The racial profiling goes on quite a bit in the city of Chicago, even out in the suburbs. About 3 yrs. ago, one of our church staff leaders (black) had talked about being racially profiled out in the suburbs,talked about this during a Sunday service, and our congregation is mostly white. So, it doesn't surprise me that Shani Davis and friends filed a lawsuit. And this happened 2 yrs. ago, not real recent.

Maybe a naive question but how can you really tell you have been racially profiled without statistical evidence. I am white and have been pulled over for what amounted to nothing (they some how got the idea I was running drugs in my bed covered beat up truck... another time I was driving slow in a rich neighborhood looking for a friends house again in my beat up truck). I guess my question unless you knew they were only pulling over a certain race on said night or had policy to do such things how do you really know it was profiling and not just stopping someone they thought was acting suspicious regardless of race?

Sorry, didn't say that he filed the suit 2 years ago. It was in today's headlines, and the article is dated from yesterday, so thought it was recent.

That's ok.
I re-read the article and the lawsuit was filed almost 3 yrs. ago(March 2003). The actual incident with Shani Davis happened almost 5 yrs. ago (March 2001). I don't know Shani Davis personally, but giving him the benefit of the doubt, I guess if he wanted to sue the city of Chicago for supposed racial profiling, that's up to him. I don't think with this lawsuit pending from almost 3 yrs. ago, it would effect his olympic medals, being taken away or anything.
