True. Every time the original Pirates attraction at
Disneyland is updated, there are always upset people. It was the last attraction that Walt Disney personally oversaw. Based on his statement that "Disneyland will never be completed," I don't think he intended it to remain static forever. But so many people were upset when Disney changed the scenes where the pirates were chasing the ladies, or when Jack Sparrow made his debut.
The Shanghai version looks so spectacular, and I'm sure even more impressive in person than on YouTube. I hope to visit someday. It seems in recent years, Disney has been at its best in pushing the boundaries with the help of foreign investors (e.g., Tokyo Disney Sea would've never been built in the U.S. at that cost). But when Disney has to foot the whole bill themselves, they're a bit more conservative.
We might not get the Shanghai version in the U.S., but hopefully we'll benefit from the techniques and technology that was developed for that park in some other future attractions here.
