Still no concept artwork besides a blurry picture on Micechat?

That's the only oen I've seen. I'm interested to see if the park has a Marvel themed section and/or attractions. The details should be coming soon.

If there is any actual money from the Disney Company itself going into this,
I'd rather see them take it and use it to improve and enlarge and refurbish what they already have at WDW.

If the parks division wants money to use in Florida it needs to come from somewhere. Why are you against them haveing more money to spend in the future?

Keep in mind WDW exists because DL paid for it.

Because I'm never going anywhere near Shanghai, but I do go to WDW!! Very selfish, of course.

If I thought this would be a big money maker, I might feel different. But I'm not all that optimistic that the new park will generate much if any profit for the Company. Something tells me it'll be pretty much a bust and they'll need to find "innovative" ways to get the Chinese people actually interested and going to the new park.

I could be wrong of course--and they didn't consult me anyway:)

It will be very interesting to see how this project goes. Shanghai will be the most challenging "sell" I think, even more challenging than HKDL....HKDL just was never built big enough, there's such gaping holes in the attractions list vs. all of the other parks. (Despite this, I will be spending a few hours there in 2 weeks, at least they have a good space mountain)

But unlike HKDL, Shanghai doesn't have traditional western influences for the past century and is just starting to westernize. I am really curious about what they're planning to build vs. the standard Disneyland model.

Even if I don't visit for a few years, I'm very anxious to see the concept sketches/plans/etc.

I don't know Shanghai is a pretty big tourist destination. As far as I know being less westernly influenced might be better for attendance. More alien and mysterious that way. It's probably hard to go wrong with a local population of 14mil anyway.

Exactly. I think there's 20 million people in the immediate vicinity, and something like 100 million + who could get there easily using ground transportation. The park can succeed purely on that population if it appeals to them.

There's the key--IF it appeals to them.

Somehow I can't see the average Shanghaian buying armfulls of Mickey souveniers.

But the ball is rolling so we shall see.

And about Hong Kong--is that park generating tons of profit, breaking even, or losing money??

Interesting...According to Bloomberg News, Shanghai Disneyland will have a “Magic Kingdom,” “Epcot” and “Animal Kingdom”.

Also, Here is a Map of the property from the Shanghai Government (I hope you can read Chinese):

There was a lot of talk of adding a Marvel Theme Park in Shanghai, but the Chinese Government does not seem to have heard that one. Maybe saving Marvel for Hong Kong?

I did see somewhere that a French Official did say they have had discussions of adding a Marvel Park in Disneyland Paris one day.

Hmmm,
Looks very squarish and forbidden city looking. It even has a moat.
Now if we knew what all the colored blobs meant...
