Another beautiful morning has dawned, but I slept in a bit and just started my first cup of coffee here at 8:30. I am back on the patio in my living room chair. Yesterday, I found that it fit nicely through the door, and is actually quite comfortable, especially compared to the plastic numbers Disney uses for patio furniture. I sure wouldnt mind if they upgraded to something a bit more comfortable. I love my Hilton Head rocking chairs, but I know most of the balconies here are much too small for anything like that.
Yesterday morning started out with coffee on the balcony at about 7AM, and a nice relaxing couple of hours before Sis got up around 9. Then she made record time getting out to the pool and settling into a nice lounge facing the sun. I joined her a few minutes later, and we alternately baked and dipped for a couple of hours, in between swatting at the love bugs. It was heavenly, and the few people out there were very well mannered and everyone seemed to be in a good mood. Our peace and quiet was disturbed when a lifeguard stormed past us sputtering to another that It cant be open yet! We dont even have the trauma kit out. Apparently the slide had been opened early by an overzealous lifeguard, and she was NOT happy. Her attitude was not very magical though!
We decided that we really should at least consider visiting a park at some point, so we finally motivated and headed into EPCOT. I had to get a new AP and it ran me $355 with my DVC discount. They have a new finger thingy, and it just scans your forefinger. Pretty futuristic if you ask me. We have an early ADR for Alfredos, but with the DDP it is mandatory that we eat something soon. We still have all our Snack & Counter Service credits, and we have to get chowing! Unfortunately, Yorkshire Fish is closed for refurbishment, so Sis cant have her fish. After a few quick tears we start our trek over towards Mexico to check out the Cantina. The choices here are good, and I go for the combination plate which is a quesadilla, a taco, and something else in a soft tortilla. It was all good, and came with beans (yuck) and salsa. The dessert offering was a churro, so of course we HAD to get one. I love me a churro, but I prefer it in the morning with coffee rather than when I am stuffed full of Mexican food. Sis had the nachos and a churro, and we both decided to forego a beer as we would certainly be having wine with dinner. We had a lovely water table and spent some time savoring our lunch, swatting love bugs and enjoying the birds and the water view. This was a great use of the CS credit, and I think each of our meals ran around $13 total. Mission accomplished
We strolled through Mexico and took the boat ride and enjoyed the mariachi band, wandered through Norway and took that boat ride, and then browsed the shops and admired the flowers in China. As we were heading towards the Coke place, it was time for the draw bridge to come up and let out the Illuminations paraphernalia. I always think it is pretty cool to witness this little bit of backstage come front & center. It took awhile, and then I headed for an Ice Cold Coca-Cola. Oops they only serve fountain coke there now, so Ill hold off. Well, we arrived in Germany and I completely forgot about the coke (sorry Joe) when we reached the Wine Tasting area. We decided that a wine flight (#1) would be just the thing, So Soren and TJ set us up at one of the tables and began pouring and educating us. It was fun, and although I didnt love the wines, there was one I would consider purchasing. Soren and TJ were very amusing and entertaining and made the experience more fun.
Would you believe its time for dinner? OMG, how will we keep up this pace? So we toddled over to Italy and signed in. In a few moments we were seated, and the most beautiful man you have ever seen came over to our table and introduced himself with the most irresistible Italian accent you ever heard. Sis and I were lost. Whoever assigned us to his table was definitely looking out for us on this night! His name was Valerio. Say that name aloud and listen to it. Now imagine the most beautiful man in the world saying it. We were putty in his hands, and he knew it, we knew he knew it, he knew we knew he knew it, and we were all on the same page. This meal was simply a blast. For appetizers we had the tomato caprese and it was very good. Did I mention that Valerio recommended a lovely Chianti from Toscana, the featured region so it was 10% off the steep $58 price tag? It was exquisite, and the little ritual that went along with it was also delightful. For dinner I had the shrimp vodka pasta and Sis had the Lasagna bolognese. To be perfectly honest, neither was very good, but since we werent all that hungry to begin with, and were totally smitten with Valerio we enjoyed what we felt like and left the rest. Dessert time! After a nice drawn out presentation of the dessert tray and some unabashed flirting in all directions, we ordered one of Valerios favorite, and a canoli. Sis had a Rosa Regale with her dessert, and I had a Limoncella. Valerio explained how Limoncella is made (from lemon zest and alcohol which ferments for a month in the freezer or something like that) and it was just delicious. When it came time to settle up, we exchanged sweet farewells, and of course, rewarded Valerio handsomely (via a gratuity you naughty people
) for making this meal so special. (Total bill not including adult beverages and exhorbitant tip $87.18.)
We floated back to the villa, and changed into our swimsuits and went out for some evening pool time. Do Love Bugs never sleep? The rest of the evening is a blur, but I am quite sure we didnt do anything else of interest. This is what Adult Trips are all about!
This should take you to Day 3 ... http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?p=14914662#post14914662
