Ohhhhh, so that's what happened!

Hi Jackie!
Love, Love, Love the print, well, all of the art from Food and Wine this year was so charming! You picked some great souvies!
Now I need to see what I can do about my thread.....

Sounds like in all, it was a great little escapade for the two of you! GREAT souvies!! That is truly the best part! I LOVE your plans for the summer!! Chelsea will be SO excited! I can't imagine having to hold in a secret like that for SO long!!!! :) I can't wait to hear all about the details though!

great souvies! :thumbsup2 i really want to go to the festival sometime. even though i'm ready now, i secretly hope i will get preggo in april, may or june so that we can change our december 2010 trip to october 2010 and go. although no dragonberry coladas will be consumed by me. but can you imagine being pregnant and being able to graze on all that food????

Okay - LOVE the goodies from your trip! I am kicking myself for not grabbing a few things for me! That cookbook is great! Christine sent me a few recipes, I also really love the print, it would make me smile too!!! Looks great! And I am sure fab on the wall! The grand floridian was amazing to see all decorated for Christmas, btw! I am sure it will be a grand time! AND I have to say a "surprise" Disney trip is great fun! AND you only need to keep the resort "quiet" YOU can do that! ;) Have you had breakfast at 1900 Park Faire? Hands down a FABULOUS time with the characters -- we all really enjoyed it! Not sure if Chelsea would like that one -- the people characters interact so differently! IT was a hoot!

Maybe trying some new recipes will help get you through the long winter!

Can't wait to start your new PTR!

There are a few recipes I plan on trying including the one for Sachertorte -- after reading the recipe, I wish I had tried it at Food and Wine.

Love all your souvenirs. Can't wait for the PTR!! The subterfuge with two binders is going to be great!!

I have been working on the "theme" of the PTR in my mind all weekend. I am pretty excited to start it!

You are always so good at taking souvenir pictures!

I love the print. I want a great Disney print for my house that isn't overly Disney if that makes sense.

This time, I took all my souvenir pictures as soon as we got home (except for the one of the print which I took when I bought the frame).

I am in love with my print -- I love that it is food themed with all of the pavilion icons in the background. :lovestruc

I like your cookbook and your print. I also like the magnet. Looking forward to your next update.

Thanks! I promised myself that I would only buy Food and Wine souvenirs, and aside from the earrings, I think I did pretty well.

Ooh, that print would look great in my kitchen. Do you think desire for one Disney print is reason enough for a Disney trip? Nevermind, I can hear my husband's answer already.

That was my reasoning behind the trip in the first place. Kind of...

Wow Jackie, Chelsea is going to go ba-na-nas when you tell you you'll be doing Disney in such a GRAND manner! Can you video her response for us? What a fun, fun, fun surprise!:goodvibes

July seems an awful long way away. I want to go now! :goodvibes

I hope Santa was good to you and your family. We've done nothing but play games, build Legos and do art in our pajamas for the last 3 days, with occasional breaks for food, church and seeing The Princess and the Frog. This is definitely the life!:goodvibes

Santa was good -- I love that you were able to play for the three days -- we had family here so it was pretty hectic until yesterday -- the next couple of days are going to be our pajama days. :thumbsup2

You brought back some good stuff. Love the picture. I bought a picture for my dining room that reminded be of the cafe area in France (Epcot's France :)). I think that's a nice way to decorate your home with things that remind you of Disney without having Mickey Mouse wallpaper and all your guests thinking you are nuts!:rotfl:

I also tend to buy things for others and then wish I had gotten one for myself.

Can't wait for all the details of your new trip! You must be so excited. Half the fun is the planning and anticipation!

:lmao: There's a good bit of Mickey in our house as well, but everyone that knows me knows I am slightly obsessed with Disney. ;)

The planning is going to be a lot of fun -- I need to get started on that.

LOVE that print! And the spoon rests are adorable. You can always get a different one during your week at the Grand. I don't even bother getting stuff like that because my kitchen is for decorative purposes only :lmao:

I can't wait for the PTR to start.

:rotfl: Our kitchen is definitely used at our house -- it's my favorite room. I want to paint it again at some point this coming year.

Grand Flo....Sweet!

I couldn't resist that 40% code even if it meant a slightly shorter trip. I will say Charles is pretty excited we are only staying five nights this time. I don't know what to do with that man sometimes.

Love the spoon rest and the print. I know it's not themed after that, but it reminds me of Ratatouille. :goodvibes

It reminds me of Ratatouille as well. ::yes::

Wow Jackie! A short but oh-so-sweet Trip Report! I love the fridge mag. and the glass! I went to the food and wine last year...why did I not see those :confused3 Possiby because I was traveling with a 10 month old :lmao:

I am so super excited for your new PTR!!! The grand is GRAND!

Traveling without the kids definitely made it easier to browse and see everything. It was quite nice. :goodvibes

the spoon rest are great...I know how you feel about wishing you had bought one. There's always something i wish I'd bought when I get home.

There is ALWAYS something I wish I had bought when I get home. It happens every time!

I hope you and your family had a very Merry Christmas, Jackie!! How exciting about booking at the Grand Floridian AND that it's a SURPRISE!! I can't wait for the PTR!!! LOVE all of the souvenirs--especially the cookbook!! :goodvibes

Thank you, Becky! I am pretty over-the-top about the Grand. I have been drooling over pics of it on the resort thread. Can. Not. Wait!

I agree! I really like the print and the spoon rest!

Thanks! Me too!

Oh I covet that cookbook!

It was on my shopping list to buy even before we left home.

Great souvies...I would love that cookbook. Bet there's yummy stuff in there. Can't wait for the new PTR.

There's lots of yummy stuff in there. I should make more use of it than I have done so far.

On the road at 7am?????? I would have pouted and said, "No. I'm not leaving yet!" Better yet - I would have gone on my run and not come back!

I love all your great souvies, especially the print! :thumbsup2

:lmao: This is why I should take up running -- to prolong my Disney trips! :thumbsup2

Love the souvenir pics!!!! I want a spoon rest now too LOL!!!!! I am with you on the cookbook, bought it but have yet to make anything out of it! Of course it all looks so intimidating and the only thing I can think of to try in there is the bread pudding...maybe I should come up there and we can make it together LOL!!!!

Can't wait for your PTR...going to be so awesome watching this secret and special revelation take form!!!

Yes, everything does look a bit intimidating for someone like me who is used to cooking with casseroles and the crock pot. :rotfl:

We're the same as Charles on the last day -- we always catch an early flight home. Kind of like taking off the bandaid quickly.

Every visit I say we are going to stay later on our last day, but we always end up leaving early -- I think part of it is that we know we are in for a long day of driving.

That cookbook looks awesome. I also know how you feel about wishing you got the spoon rest -- there always seems to be something that I come home and regret not buying.

I'm really looking forward to your new PTR :thumbsup2

I thought about buying a spoon rest for myself when we were standing in the Festival Center, and then, for whatever reason, I decided not to -- sigh.

Your Tutto meal looks delicious and I love all your souvenirs :thumbsup2

You are so going to love the Grand, we've just returned from 10 days there and loved the hotel, good luck keeping it a secret :goodvibes

Hi, Jo! Tutto was scrumptious! I am so excited about the Grand! I really hope I am able to keep it a secret and Chelsea doesn't find out until we want her to.

I almost bought that same print! :thumbsup2 I really wanted it but aside from shipping it home it would have been hard to travel with!
I took home a lot of memories in my stomach and alcohol though!
Can't wait for your PTR!! :woohoo:

Tracy

You also came home with that great Dooney and Bourke purse, Tracy, didn't you? I'll trade you my print for your purse. :rotfl:

All of your sovies are awesome!

Thank you! I was pretty pleased with them all.:goodvibes

Okay just trying to catch up!! They moved my PTR already!!! :headache: I mean I just checked out yesterday! WigD's is moved too!!! I have asked them to give me access so I can at least "end it"!!!! HA! Anyhoo, got major TR and PTR to read but I will be back! :surfweb: WigD told me you announced your vacation in July -- how exciting!! Congrats!!! Looking forward to that new TR!!! I have lots to share too, so I guess I will have to start that TR soon.... ;)

Welcome home, Happydog!!! :yay: I can't wait to read your TR and see all of your pictures! I am sure you had an absolute BLAST down there. How crowded was it?

I'm sorry your trip had to come to an end.. as they always do. But I love the picture you bought.. its soo cool!

I am a huge souvenirs kind of person so I feel your kids when they wanted them right away! hehe

I look forward to your final thoughts! Thanks for sharing your trip with us.. it was very relaxing and I REALLY wanted to try many of the food and drink items! hehe:goodvibes

I am a huge souvenirs person, too, so my kids come by it honestly! I really wanted to have more of that food and drink while I was writing about it all. :lmao:

Shocker and his visual commentary are back!!! Hurray!!! :woohoo:

Ohhhhh, so that's what happened!

Hi Jackie!
Love, Love, Love the print, well, all of the art from Food and Wine this year was so charming! You picked some great souvies!
Now I need to see what I can do about my thread.....

Thanks, Wigd! I am so glad you are home again -- the DIS just isn't the same without you around! :goodvibes

Love all the souvies. The GF, how exciting! Can't wait to read all the details!!

Thank you! There will be lots of details, I can promise that!

Hi, Jen! Thankfully, I have all of you to share the details and trip planning with otherwise I don't think I could keep the Grand Floridian a secret. I would be dying to tell someone (Charles tries to look like he cares, but you know my hubby ), so I would probably tell Connor and that's practically like telling Chelsea. Connor would be unable to resist dropping hints. So, it is truly a wonderful thing that I have you to regale with all of this! :goodvibes

great souvies!

Hi, Dawn! Food and Wine would be a pregnant woman's paradise!!! :rotfl: I hope you are able to go because you would just love it -- not to mention the weather was just perfect for us while we were there, so you wouldn't be miserable. :thumbsup2

Okay - LOVE the goodies from your trip! I am kicking myself for not grabbing a few things for me! That cookbook is great! Christine sent me a few recipes, I also really love the print, it would make me smile too!!! Looks great! And I am sure fab on the wall! Not sure if Chelsea would like that one -- the people characters interact so differently! IT was a hoot!

Yeay, you're all caught up again! The print does look good on the wall, but it makes me want to redo the kitchen, and I worry because the morning sunlight touches it a little bit, and I don't want it to fade. Not sure where to move it to though.

I will probably need your help thinking of ways to "reveal" the trip -- you always have the best ideas!

We ate at 1900 back in 2007 and loved it. The kids wore their ears to breakfast that morning, and the Mad Hatter was a hoot about them. I am planning on eating there for breakfast again since we are big Alice and Mary Poppins fans. Not to mention, it would be a shame to stay there and not eat in any of the restaurants.

Isn't Mad Hatter the funniest? I don't know how he comes up with it all so quickly but he had us in stitches the last time we ate there....

Oh I can't wait until the last day of my TR.......you will LOVE the story about our Mad Hatter experience.....it was TOO cute!

:rotfl: Our kitchen is definitely used at our house -- it's my favorite room. I want to paint it again at some point this coming year.

What color are you thinking? Are you going to do it yourself? Hmmm, I sense another reason to head over to Home Depot for Mickey head paint chips :rotfl: I love painting, but have had enough after painting my classroom in August. Teachers where I work usually paint their own classrooms to get rid of the institutional colors. My room was the color of the psych ward of a hospital I volunteered at in college. That was NOT going to work.

When's your ADR date? I see 1900 Park Fare may be on the list. I should post a photo of the cake I ordered there for my parents' 35th anniversary. It's not expensive and would make a perfect 13th birthday cake. Maybe I should save that for your PTR :goodvibes

Our ADR date is at the end of February and my family leaves that to me. I have to figure it all out this week because once I get back to work, it's Wizard of Oz casting, rehearsals, set building, and costumes. I'm seriously considering another PTR so I can get help with the planning details :lmao:

Hmmm will the PTR start before the new year?

Some how I lost your TR, glad to have found it again & have been doing a lot of catch up. I'm hooked on TRs, find a link on one & I'm off on another.
How neat to go to the GF, that is where I would most like to stay. I have loved it since it was built.
Your daughter will be so happy & I for one will enjoy reading all of the plans that will be made! :cloud9:

I love your framed print! It is so cute! We were at Food and Wine in 2008. The weather was sooo nice. The Grand Floridian sounds wonderful! I would have a hard time keeping it a secret.

All caught up! And just in time for your last post it looks like! Sounds like you had a great trip! Congrats on your upcoming trip! Sounds like a great Birthday surprise!

I really like that print! You're right, it's a nice way to remember your trip and it's not all screaming "MICKEY". I'm looking forward to your PTR and seeing how you manage to keep a secret like that from your kids!

Come to my TR and see my tiny secret I kept from my kids. It's in the next episode!
