Just wondering if it is worth the extra money to stay at the Fort Wilderness Cabins over SOG? I have stayed at SOG and it was okay - the location was great for the price. We have 3 kids and looked into the cabins in FW. For 9 nights it is 3645.00 with the meal plan... SOG for the month of MAY has a rate of $89.00 per night - that of course is without a meal plan. You still get the other perks of disney like the extra magic hours... Just wondering what your thoughts are on the cabins and if I am missing out by not having the meal plan?

Also for those who have stayed at the cabins how is transportation to the other parks?

Thank you Heidi

I am going to move this to our Camping at Disney forum. There is a lot of information over there about all that Fort Wilderness has to offer besides just a place to sleep that may help you with your decision.

We also have a Resorts Forum that may be able to help you.

I just booked a cabin for the end of Feb, with a military disount, we love the cabins and FW itself, we have never had any problems with transportaion to other parks, the buses come on a regular basis, and the ferry ride to Magic kingdom is great. :) It is nice having the extra room especially when you have children, there is a nice deck with a picnic table,my kids were always out there. I am not getting the meal plan, I have decided to skip it this time.

Thanks so much... I see you are from Jersey (I am from PA but lived in Jersey for 10 years) I so miss it! I was wondering if you felt the meal plan wasn't a good fit... do you think you didn't get your monies worth? I have never used it as we stayed at the SOG before and couldn't.

Thanks again! heidi

We have done the meal plan several times, I just don't feel that I would be utilizing all of the meals, we will have a car with us this trip and we usually are confined to eating in Disney when we fly down. I have booked one sit down restaurant each day, but we will have a four yr old and one yr old and the four yr old is very picky, I didn't feel we would be using the counter service portion of the dining plan. What part of Jersey were you from? We are as south as you can get in Jersey, Exit 0.:)
