This is my first time posting on this board, but I have been perusing it for quite some time. Boyfriend and I are going to Shades of Green in May. I am, in fact, hoping that he may pop the question there. Wishful thinking aside, I have heard a number of positive things about SOG, but am nervous to hear it lacks the "Disney" magic. That's what I love so very much about staying on property.

Has anyone been disappointed by this "lack" of "Magic"? And if so, do you have any recommendations?

Also, I am leaning to taking Mears (since SOG doesn't have the Magical Express) but am wondering if anyone else has any suggestions?

We made 8 ADRs for the week we will be there. :yay: We will be there over Cinco de Mayo. Does anyone have any suggestions for that?

Does anyone know what the weather is like in early May (4-11th?)

I have checked and it doesn't look like crowds will be horrible, but I am still nervous. Does anyone have any knowledge about crowds?

Sorry that I have asked so much, I am just SO excited now that the room and ADR and plane tickets have been booked :goodvibes

Okay, I thought someone else might answer since there are several of us who have stayed at SOG. I have only been in Nov so I can't help you with info about May. As for the Disney "magic", that has been addressed a few times recently and the feeling is, you get the magic in the parks and SOG is very much a deluxe resort. So what if Mickey doesn't do your wake up call? We set our alarm anyway. Besides, I hear Stitch is a pain anyway. The cameraderie, the quiet, the beauty, the size of the rooms all make SOG a great place to stay. I'm not even sure what "magic" some people are referring to anyway. You're at Disney. You're walking distance to the poly, monorail and TTC. It's all good.:dance3:

We stayed last may from the 3rd to the 11th at SOG. It was great. the weather was perfect, sunny abd not to hot. It did get chilly a couple of nights. As far as crowds. it wasn't to crowded. we were able to walk on to most rides. We hardley used fast pass. Then you have the flower & Garden show which is a great time. We would not go any other time of the year.
We will be there from April 30th to May 11th this year at SOG. Can't wait!!!

We've used Mears and it was fine, but we've rented a car the past 3 trips. If there are more than 3 of you going though, you may want to check on town car prices -- it may be cheaper.

As for ADRs, definitely try San Angel -- it's great!
