@BigBlueWho thank you!
You are welcome!!@BigBlueWho thank you!
Anyone belong to the SOG fans on FB? Don't bother answering with a factual answer or especially after someone "edits" their answer. I just got blocked/deleted with NO explanation because someone didin't like any answer. OP edited their answer AFTER I asked a question about their original post. No explanation from admins who are too chicken to take a stand. Apparently unless you kiss *** you get "reported". I have never reported ANYONE on any FB page I've been on because I'm not butt hurt by the fact that others have opinions other than mine. Funny thing is, this particular post wasn't about opinions. If you changed your post/edit it, don't get butt hurt because of responses you get BEFORE your change it. I'm sorry, but the US military is not what it used to be.
Fortunately doesn't change the fact we can stay at SOG. I'm just so tired of people who are butt hurt about everything, regardless of my feelings.
I know there are areas within the resort where the cell signal/Wi-Fi are not that great. Has anyone had success in getting a ROTR boarding group from your room? We will be there in July, and I was wondering if I would need to attempt this from the lobby, or outside. We were also planning on walking over to the Poly to catch an earlier bus to DHS, has this worked out for anyone?
From what I can see on the SOG bus schedule, the first bus to DHS departs 45 minutes prior to park opening, which IMHO is not early enough. Not to mention the first bus could fill up, and we could possibly have to wait for another bus. That said, I think we may stand a better chance over at the Po!y. Thought about driving, but from what I understand you can no longer park until a designated time. I have seen photos of long lines of cars waiting to get into the lot. I was also a bit concerned with a very long walk from the parking lot if the trams are not running. I know I'm probably overthinking this.![]()
We're here now! We're in the Magnolia Wing ALLLLLLL the way at the end, overlooking the Mickey pool. We had 2 DHS days and both days got Boarding Group 3! I had my 13 year old daughter ON the Wifi in the room, my husband and I were both on the balcony and had wifi OFF - using data. I was the one who snagged the boarding group for us - so I was successful on data, out on the balcony. I ran speed tests both in the room and out, on wifi and off to see which was the fastest.
I can share our experiences. The first day we all walked over to the Poly (already had our boarding group) and were on a bus around 7:40 or 7:45. We were there before they started letting people in, but we weren't at the very front. I think the skyliner has an advantage there. Today my youngest and I walked over to catch a Poly bus because we wanted to rope drop Slinky before our boarding group got called. My husband and other two kids planned to catch the first Shades bus at 8:15 and meet us there. The Poly bus didn't come til 7:53 and the Shades bus was early so we were both on our way at about the same time. We were in the same line at the tapstiles, they were maybe 20 people back from us. DS and I booked it straight for Slinky, got in line by 8:27 and were off by 8:50something. So the difference between the busses was negligible today - but it's variable.
The first DHS day I want to say we were at the bus stop by 7:15 or so and we were definitely the first ones there for DHS. The CM at the stop called us Early Birds and we waited awhile. Today DS and I arrived by 7:30, we were the second people there for DHS and the bus was later than it should have been.Thank you so much, very helpful information. Congratulations on snagging that awesome boarding group! We have two DHS days, so I'm hoping we can at least get a boarding group for one of those days. Yes, I think it will be the luck of the draw with the bus at the Poly. How early did you arrive at the bus stop?
I was thinking of getting there by 7:15. There are 'unofficial ' reports about the Poly reopening around July 19, which happens to be our first DHS day. If the rumors are true, we may have plenty of company on the bus.![]()

My DH got on with the admin and tried to get an explanation out of her. All she said was there were "complaints". So, he dropped out of the group after not getting anywhere. There seems to be a bit of "group think" going on with that page. They recently instituted a rule that if you respond to a question with "I think" they'll delete it. They only want verified information, yet it changes all the time so "I think" or "I remember" is perfectly valid a lot of the time. One thing that always bugged me was a lot of the members opinion that SOG is a Disney Resort. I, and others explained that it's a DOD resort that just happens to sit on Disney property so Disney extends some benefits. Some of those people should have been gong back when we first started in 1998 and they would appreciate everything they get instead of whining about what they don't. They forget we're lucky that Disney offers what they do instead of complaining or questioning why SOG doesn't get ALL the Disney benefits. There's a lot of entitlement.i didn't last long in that group, someone posted that do not disturb signs where moved onto other doors, i laughed, they didn't. then i said something about dod civilians and whelp i was gone. karens gone wild.

On another note, I got my spouse ID renewed (DH is retired) last week. I had to book an appt in April to get this appointment at Ft Myer which is about 25 miles from where I live. Several DEERS offices are currently not taking anyone and some are taking only employees of the site they're at. We used to do ours at a joint agency where I retired and DH was a contractor at, but they're only taking current employees at the site. I called that morning because it's supposed to be within 30 days of expiring so I was confirming since I was 32 days out that they would do it, they said yes. I get there and the woman looks at my ID and tells me it's too early. I told her I called and she backed off and took care of it. I was of course very polite and thanked her for doing this for me. I have a bad knee and DH took off work. I needed it renewed because after my MRI tomorrow on my knee, I may be having surgery and my old ID expired on July 4 so Tri care (our secondary insurance) would have not paid and we would have had to chase that down. Anyway, for our trip this Dec, I have one of the new ID cards.
I had my own run in of sorts with the admins, I posted a thread asking about why September was fully booked.Verified, or what their admins think is right, even if it's wrong.
I've spent way too much time on this, but SoG is supposed to be sending emails out today with ticket purchase info. They will start processing them tomorrow; they told me today if you don't receive the e-mail by 1200 today, to call. WDW said they aren't selling directly to SoG tomorrow. (They initially said they would.)On the official boo bash thread there is some discussion about if SOG will be selling tickets. Disney says yes and that they must be purchased AT SOG if you’re staying at SOG. Another poster said SOG told them they were not selling.
The same thing is happening on the SOG FB group. The biggest post about boo bash has a comment stating they will NOT be sold at SOG. Of course that thread has been locked so no further updates can be posted.
If you dig you can find the post where someone contacted SOG and were told they were selling them and the admin confirmed this. Of course admins haven’t updated the biggest post with this info.
So I guess we will all see what happens tomorrow!!!
Thank you so much for this info! I’ll be watching for an email.I've spent way too much time on this, but SoG is supposed to be sending emails out today with ticket purchase info. When Brian was admin, it was a much better run page.I had my own run in of sorts with the admins, I posted a thread asking about why September was fully booked.
I was lucky enough to grab a reservation early on but soon after it was totally booked by a “group”. There had been other posts speculating which remained open for comment. I was simply asking if there was any new info about it. People had some reasonable speculations but the thread was locked. Shortly after was the post about only posting verified info.
I think it’s silly to remove friendly discussion from the site. Also by locking posts you’re actually making information HARDER to find, as you said earlier info changes! Now instead of everything being contained to one post it’s spread in different posts.
Really disappoints me. It hasn’t always been like this either.
Do you still need the prices? I submitted my form and hopefully they get to it tomorrow. I also contacted a friend who is a travel agent.Got my email but no attachments included as they state in the email. So I don't know pricing that they ask for in the form.
I'm not who you're quoting, but have they published the prices? I doubt we're going, but it's fun to think about if the price is right! lolDo you still need the prices? I submitted my form and hopefully they get to it tomorrow. I also contacted a friend who is a travel agent.
I did finally get the email with prices and we got our form sent in! Thank you!!Do you still need the prices? I submitted my form and hopefully they get to it tomorrow. I also contacted a friend who is a travel agent.
