I know WDW like the back of my hand (maybe better) and a good trick was to head toward the que lines that had decent shade in the mid day. Its better to wait on a long E ticket during the hot parts of the day if its shaded

Looking at some of DL and DCA que areas, I am not seeing a whole lots of them inside or under cover….(maybe Indy?)

Can anyone give me an idea of some of the attractions that have shaded Que’s?

Also, any areas of the parks with decent shade? I was recently diagnoses with skin cancer and as a reault I am kind paranoid about mid day sun…well all sun but particularly mid day.

Do they allow snacks in line?

I'm very sun avoidant (mild sun allergy), so I usually take hotel break from 2-5. But some queues that I remember being at least partially shady (or mostly indoors) would include Jungle Cruise, Indy, Pirates, Space, Splash (if it is shorter line, otherwise lots of full sun), Millennium Falcon, some Fantasy Land rides (but if lines are long they can extend out into full sun), Guardians, Grizzly River Run.

In general, I feel like DCA has less shade than DL. I always get overheated/too much sun over in Avenger's Campus as there is very little shade.

Many attractions have decent shaded or indoor queue areas. The problem occurs when it gets really crowded and they start extending the queues. For example, much of the Indy queue is inside the building, but you can end up outside for awhile if the line is really long (although much of the outdoor queue is shaded by trees). A long Pirates queue will put you in the sun until you get into the building. The Guardians queue is covered, but the extended part is in the sun. Toy Story Mania has a building for much of the queue, but again, you can be in the sun for awhile if it's long. It's best to scope it out and determine if you can handle the way the queue is set up based on the current crowd levels.

DLR has decidedly less shade, for restaurants and attraction queues, than WDW. Wear sunscreen and/or UV clothing or bring an umbrella. It doesn't feel as hot at DLR, but that can lull you into a false sense of security, making you think you are not getting as much sun exposure as you are. UV clothing and a large brimmed hat are actually your best solution for most of your body. Then you only need to probably apply sunscreen to your face, neck, and back of your hands (don't forget these, they do burn easily). The clothes are not as hot as you would think. I am fair, burn easily, and have a family history of skin cancer, so I really try to be careful. Remember to reapply sunscreen often. Once a day is probably not enough.

Snacks may or may not be OK, depending upon the section of the queue. If it's a decidedly outdoor, uncovered part of the queue, snacks are usually fine. They may say something as you get into the more defined, indoor part of the queue. I haven't had anyone say anything to me at either DLR or WDW, but I also don't usually try to eat something messy, like a Mickey bar, in the queue. A pretzel, pastry, or protein bar probably won't get you in trouble. Not sure about popcorn, since I can't eat it.
