We are flying into SFB. We only need a car to get to Disney with a stop at Publix on Day 1 and a car to get us back to SFB on the last day. We have a 7:00PM return flight. I'm looking at Alamo for both ways. I have a Sun Pass portable transponder. How does it work with car rental?
When I start to book the car with Alamo I do not see any option to add/pay toll fee.
Any advice would be great.
Thanks
Robby

We have a portable SunPass transponder too. When we get our rental car, I stick it to the windshield and enter the car information in our account on the website. There’s a place to enter that it’s a rental car and a date and time when the rental begins and ends. That was especially useful the time when I forgot to delete the car from our account after we turned it in - when I remembered later and looked at our account, the car had disappeared from it, but the tolls were billed correctly.

Thanks for the info. Does it go in the front or the back window? We have not used ours in years. Do I have to tell the car rental people I have my own? How easy are the toll roads from SFB to Disney?

It goes on the windshield, in the center up behind the rearview mirror. If you look on the SunPass website I think it will tell you. I don’t think you have to tell the rental car company that you have your own, but we haven’t rented from Alamo so I don’t know if there’s a place to indicate that you don’t want to charge tolls to your bill there.

We’ve never driven between SFB and WDW, so I can’t help there. Sorry. I’m sure you’ll get help here, though.

ETA - be sure your online account is set up so you can enter each car’s make, model, license plate, etc. when you pick it up.

Put the transponder in the front window. From the Sunpass website:

You just drive through the toll booths. If there's lanes that say "Sunpass", use them. There might be a slight slow down, but that's about it. Not sure how much easier it can be.

What the best way to travel from SFB to Disney using toll roads?

We always fly into Sanford and rent from Alamo. We were just there in May and always take 417 to avoid using I4. There was a notice that the first toll booth heading towards Disney would be cashless. We were debating on purchasing the Sun Pass transponder this time but we did. We purchased it at Publix. I made an account, entering the rental car information. When it was time to head back, we crossed our fingers hoping it would work. When the Alamo attendant looked over our vehicle, we made mention that we purchased the transponder. While waiting for our flight, I kept checking to see if it worked. I am happy to report it did. Not having to stop at the toll booth shaved off about 30 min. We can also use this transponder in PA where we live.
