SFB Sanford/Orlando Airport Late/Early Flight Hotel Suggestion

We're flying Allegiant from Fayetteville, NC to SFB and we're staying at the Grand Floridian. We won't even be getting to the hotel until probably the 9:00 PM range. I've got a 4yo and an 18mo. So, I was trying to decide if it's worth the convenience of just checking into the GF or getting a hotel in/near Sanford for the first night.

I know to many of you this is a travesty, but at $700+ per night, that's a lot of souvenirs that my little kiddos could enjoy and it's not like we'll be hitting the parks when we arrive.

At any rate, I thought I'd share that I won a $42 priceline reservation through Name Your Own Price at Priceline at the Marriott Lake Mary ( in the Sanford area). The Marriott site lists at $189/$170 AAA. So this is like 75% off. I'm thrilled.

So for those of you who have an early morning/late night flight and are looking for a nice hotel (room service, restaurants, heated outdoor pool, etc.), I don't know you can beat this deal.

This way we get a great rate at a nice hotel that's not gigantic (i.e. easy check-in/check-out compared to lots of the mega resorts near Disney--I checked), but still very reputable.

Has lots of great reviews on Trip Advisor and Priceline.

This way we can get up the next morning early and have a better opportunity at a nicer room at the GF and pocket over $650. That way too if the kids are in meltdown mode once we get out of the airport I don't have to worry about driving all the way into Orlando, check-in, etc.

I hope this helps someone else.

P.S. I used www.betterbidding.com and www.biddingfortravel.com to see what the hotel had been winning at and $42 is normal even though it retails for at least $129 and up on any/all sites I checked (travelocity, expedia, hotels.com, etc.)

Did that price include the fees? So your total charges was $42 and your bid was $32. is there other 3 star hotels other than that one?

I would like to try the same thing, we are flying into Sanford Orlando also, but I would like to use it the night before we leave since we have a early flight out.

$42 did not include the fees. They were like $13 I believe so like $55 total. I didn't really look at other hotels as I'm a Marriott fan and liked the idea of being able to order room service at least for hubby and me when we arrive, as I'm sure we won't be looking to dine out with 2 small, tired children.

Good luck!
