~~~SEWING my way to POFQ ~ American Girl outfits & Custom Park Bags! ~~~
Okay - first of all, the next time I need new frames I am totally posting a pic for Andrea! What fantastic help!!!! :worship:
Second, I hope Ruf is on the mend . . . I totally get what you mean about "if something happened while you were gone" . . . :hug:
Third, 12 days until your trip!!! :cool1: So jealous!
Fourth - Judy - do we have any ideas on dates yet? I know Megan was going to go to camp with the girls, right? I'm having to start making my summer plans (when we'll be in RI, etc) . . .
Fifth - DH & I joined the gym yesterday. Today we each met (by ourselves) with a personal trainer (you get one visit free when you join the gym). OMG! :scared1: I was SO not happy with what I discovered :( I'm currently weighing in at 148.8lbs and 31% body fat:sad2: Blech. Then, after that lovely news she had me work out doing certain things for 15 minutes so she could assess where I'm at . . . Um, yeah :guilty:
DH, on the other hand, weighed in at 174lbs and 21% body fat. Ugh! Men!:headache:
I'm not an optician -- if I were at work I'd have one of our opticians look at D's selections and they'd be able to give better opinions.
Cool that you got a session with a trainer! I think you are taller than me, but I think we have very similar figures. I weigh 10 pounds less (only because I just gained 3 lbs!!!) but again with our height difference I think we are pretty equitable. And my dh is 6 ft tall and weighs possibly 170. But you and I have each given birth twice and have earned our bodies :)
Andrea - your glasses look good on you. Eye wrinkles are also earned, it means you are happy and you smile alot.
I'll keep my eyes open for dates for the summer meet. I'm hoping I might be able to make an appearance. I am thinking about joining our local gym here but I'm not sure. I might stop over on Friday. I've had gym memberships before but I've never had success. I really want to slim down before summer. Yesterday was my first day of trying to eat better. I gave up soda (and caffine) and I am trying to eat butter. So far, so good but it has only been a little over 24 hours :rotfl2:
Pair A fit you the best, though I'm iffy on the white on the sides.
Pair B are too heigh vertically at the outer edges of the frame -- I'm not as keen on them with your face shape.
Pair C is my favorite but they are too wide. We need to see what sizes they come in -- you need a smaller size. I like the "Donald" blue color on you.
I am not sure if this is going to work but I drew vertical lines where your pupil is -- as you can see the area of the lens on the inner aspect is much smaller than the outer aspect -- this can cause you distortion when looking through the lenses because they would have to move the center of the lens to far in toward your nose. That's why you need a smaller size.
Not sure but let's see if this works:
Glasses.jpg
Pair A in the teal would be my choice. Pair C is still my favorite, but I checked and they only come in the one size.
http://eyeglasses.go-optic.com/store/eyeglasses/details.asp?id=47410
Click on that link and then select where it says to view the other colors. I personally love the teal and think this frame fits you the best. You have close set eyes like me so it's a pain to find frames that fit.
But looking back, on you the lenses do not center either. This might be the problem with the weird distortions you get.
Andrea, this is awesome!! Thank you so much for taking the time to do this! :lovestruc
Since the pair I have now are teal, and I plan to wear both pairs (since they are nearly identical prescriptions) - do you think if I did the teal pair, it would be too much teal? Because I do like the teal pair a lot - but I was hoping for something a bit more neutral this time (and yes, I know the Donald blue ones are not neutral... LOL).
Should I go back and take more pictures for you... I had about 16 pairs in my original pile. LOL
I am hoping the Rufus is feeling better today and the blood test come back normally.:thumbsup2
I can't wait to see the pirate shirts. I didn't get much done myself yesterday either. I never feel like I get much done on tues and fridays when the baby's therepists come over. I don't want to be in the middle of something when they come and than the kids come home shortly after the sessions are done and need the table for homework. My feet are really sore right now, so I took some pain meds and hope they feel good enough for me to finish my capris later today
Only 13 day for me and I am soooooo excited. I hope are rooms are close to each other.
Thank you Corrine (and everyone else)... Sweet Ruf has managed to keep all of his food down so far today, but he is still pretty tired. He did come down stairs to say hi to me when I got home from work, and sat next to me for a nice pet - then he went to lay down again. I think I will call the Vet and see if they can fax those numbers to me - maybe Judy will understand them?
I hope you are able to feel better and get to those capris today.
OK, here I am in my glasses and they don't center either -- I have really close set eyes. I can't believe I am posting a pic of me with no makeup on (though I can't say that I didn't use the retouch button for some of my eye wrinkles :rolleyes1 --- this is what happens when I will ALWAYS be much older than you!):
GlassesA.jpg
You can't see the temples on my frame so let me see if I can find a pic....
Those are such cute glasses Andrea! I love those - I definately know that our eye Dr. doesn't carry those. They are adorable though.
Oh, I'm sorry Rufus didn't keep all his dinner down. When do you expect to get his lab results back?
They said that we should get them back by friday. I did a mini-update above.
D~, as usual I am way behind and we are on our way to Lisa's voice lesson at 11. I just saw this about Rufus and I am SICK! I just skimmed the rest as I wanted to be sure and answer before heading out. How is he feeling today? Was there ANY indication that his immune system is down (low withe count or platelets? Call the vet and ask them for the results. They might/should try him on a steroid and/or immunosuppressant, in addiotn to antibiotics. Pete and the girls all said to tell you we are praying and we DO know you feel.
Ladies, more later with the fun of coming to Charlotte, I just want to say THANKS for not forgetting me. We have a guest room/Queen Bed that Lisa B has claimed for her own. :love::love: We have two twin size beds in the classroom and I am sure Megan will bunk with the girls. The boys can also bunk together, freeing up a double bed. There is always that tent in my garage :rolleyes1 or backyard :rolleyes1 option and we DO have some blow up mattresses and PLENTY of sleeping bags!
:rolleyes1:rolleyes1
ANDREA, you are adorable! So are you D~....but I don't like big sides to my frames,makes me look old. BUT, YOU are MUCH younger than me, so no worries!
I knew you would know all about this Judy... the first thing I thought of when Ruf started this was little Bandit. I am going to call the vet and see if they can fax his bloodwork results to me, I knew I should have asked for a copy of them when they showed us the print out, but it was kind of an afterthought.
I am happy to sleep where anyone will have me. :grouphug: We need to iron out some dates though... I don't think I have heard anything official yet.
Somebody needs to PM me the dates of this visit so I can keep it open just in case. I will kick Lisa out of the queen b/c I could sleep there with Alexa and then Lisa can have the tent (and let's just keep that our little secret for right now. Surprises are good -- I think Lisa B. should be surprised with that news). Not sure ds would want to come... might have to make arrangements for him to stay with grandma or auntie while dh is at work. Honestly, if I have a place to stay I should be able to swing the trip, even if it's just an overnighter for us. I'll steal dh's hybrid to save on gas :)
That would be awesome if you could come Andrea!
OK... Phew - you said a lot - which means I have to say a lot. LOL
First... I agree - Andrea is totally the person to go to when needing optical advice! :thumbsup2
Second - I sure hope Ruf is on the mend too... I just keep praying. I will admit, he is way more responsive than he was on Monday and his eyes are much clearer/not sooo tired looking.
3rd... I know... Our trip is almost over... I really dont want to write a TR - I'd rather do another PTR.
4th... Looking forward to dates...
5th... Awesome about joining a gym... I can't seem to stick with anything these days.
I'm not an optician -- if I were at work I'd have one of our opticians look at D's selections and they'd be able to give better opinions.
glasses - well I've been wearing glasses since I was 3! my left eye started to wander....I have about 5 different things wrong....lazy eye, astigmatism, near and far sighted and something else I can never remember....my left eye basically doesn't function unless I try to focus with it eye dr said its my brain's way to help protect it, I had surgery when I was 15 to re-center my left eye since the muscle had weaken so much, it is starting to wander over a bit again, so might have to have it done in a few years again...have no perifferal vision either on the left eye....luckily my right eye is pretty good, though I have had progressive bi-focals since I was 38 for reading.
I like the first set on you best D~:thumbsup2
I know, I can't believe it either.
You are absolutely right - I could take the girls to DLR to do Minnie's house. Is it the exact same as WDW's? Let's survive this trip first. LOL
Thanks! :) Ruf is not doing so well... And thanks for the opinion on the glasses. :thumbsup2
Rufus update: He seemed to be doing better yesterday. He greeted me at the door when I got home from work - not as enthusiastically as he normally does, and a bit later than normal, but I took that as a good sign. We met Josh's dad for dinner in Rochester last night, and when we got home, again Ruf greeted us - he was right there - and ran to grab a toy (which is what he always does)... Then he usually yells at us for being gone soooo long, but he didn't do that. We checked the main floor for any signs that he had been sick, and we didn't see anything. I was begining to get optimistic. Then Alli went up to bed, and he had been sick all over her room. We had fed him some dinner before we left, and it does't appear that he kept any of it down. :sad2: I am just so sad, and I know the girls are heartbroken. I really don't think he has cancer, maybe cancer does present itself this way, but it just seems so sudden. He only seems the slightest bit better than when we initially brought him into the vet... At least he has kept down a few meals and he is a bit more responsive. I wish our vet would return from vacation, I would feel so much better taking him somewhere that they know him. I am not sure what we are going to do, but it is so hard to be excited about our trip, when Ruf is feeling so horrible and uncertain. :sad2:
Josh update: He went back to work today, with his restrictions. He has a couple of numb areas near the incision, which he is going to have checked out today while he is at work. Otherwise, he seemed anxious to get out of the house.
Other updates: I didn't have a chance to get into my sewing room at all yesterday. So, V's Pirate applique is still sitting on my ironing board, waiting to be applied to her tee. I hope to get the rest of the pirate tees done this weekend. I will work on Alli's Dug wallet during the week next week (I work 3 days again), and I plan to work on my Toy Story bag next weekend. And I think that will be the end of my sewing for this trip. I would have liked to get more done, but I just don't think it is going to happen. It's really all sneaking up on me.
Also, this weekend, the girls and I need to do a bit of shopping... Each of them should have 1 more pair of capris for our trip, if we can't find any - we'll make due with what we have. I would also like to find a swim coverup... because I feel so horrible for those people that would have to see me in swimwear in the first place - a cover up might make it easier on their eyes - we don't want any burned retinas or anything - although - maybe I could drum up some side business for Andrea then? :rolleyes1
I think that is all I have for updates. Have a great day everyone! :lovestruc
D~
Boy, I don't have time to stop by Andrea's PTR for a couple of days and I am 6 pages behind!
Another super bag! I love the zebra theme!
I hope that Rufus is doing better today. It is so hard on the kids when the dog is sick. I know our dog is our baby!
I hope you can find your swim cover up but as I always say, "If somebody doesn't like how I look in my swim suit, then they should look somewhere else!"
Andrea, this is awesome!! Thank you so much for taking the time to do this! :lovestruc
Since the pair I have now are teal, and I plan to wear both pairs (since they are nearly identical prescriptions) - do you think if I did the teal pair, it would be too much teal? I thought you were an optomitrist?
D~
I am an optometrist -- I'm the one that does the examining and finds diseases. If you are diseased I usually ship you to an ophthalmologist unless it's something simple like conjunctivitis. The optician is the one who makes the glasses and is good about figuring out what frames fit you the best. Some offices have licensed opticians, some just have any old person helping you. We have one licensed optician at our office and one that is in her last of year of school to become licensed (though she's not as good as figuring out what looks good on people). So that's why I said one of our opticians would be better at being helpful.
I can't see the teal in your current glasses. On my computer they appear to have a copper color, not teal. Your hair color just goes well with teal. I also think you'd look good in a bright green or olivey green (not a drab one, but a bright one). But your eye color also go well with teal.
I think you should get pics with all 16 pairs. Front and side views please and a few with Josh in the background again for good measure so we know he's behaving.
I have no clue on dates -- no one has pm'd me and I honestly prefer discussing meet plans that way or via e-mail. I will e-mail Lisa B., then again, she may NOT tell me the correct dates since I threatened to steal her bed and have her camp out.
I am sorry Rufus isn't making great progress. At least he is willing to eat which is a good sign, now to figure out why he can't keep things down.....
Andrea - your glasses look good on you. Eye wrinkles are also earned, it means you are happy and you smile alot.
I'll keep my eyes open for dates for the summer meet. I'm hoping I might be able to make an appearance. I am thinking about joining our local gym here but I'm not sure. I might stop over on Friday. I've had gym memberships before but I've never had success. I really want to slim down before summer. Yesterday was my first day of trying to eat better. I gave up soda (and caffine) and I am trying to eat butter. So far, so good but it has only been a little over 24 hours :rotfl2:
I was going to advise you that the butter may be your actual problem -- but I see Nini and quite a few others already beat me to it!
D~ sorry to hear about Rufus....hope he continues to improve and his tests just show its a little bug :goodvibes
Welcome home! Hmmm, the tent was supposed to be a *pleasant* surprise. You look the type who would enjoy the great outdoors. I am now worried that if I e-mail you for dates that you are going to lie to me.
Josh update: He went back to work today, with his restrictions. He has a couple of numb areas near the incision, which he is going to have checked out today while he is at work. Otherwise, he seemed anxious to get out of the house.
Other updates: I didn't have a chance to get into my sewing room at all yesterday. So, V's Pirate applique is still sitting on my ironing board, waiting to be applied to her tee. I hope to get the rest of the pirate tees done this weekend. I will work on Alli's Dug wallet during the week next week (I work 3 days again), and I plan to work on my Toy Story bag next weekend. And I think that will be the end of my sewing for this trip. I would have liked to get more done, but I just don't think it is going to happen. It's really all sneaking up on me.
Also, this weekend, the girls and I need to do a bit of shopping... Each of them should have 1 more pair of capris for our trip, if we can't find any - we'll make due with what we have. I would also like to find a swim coverup... because I feel so horrible for those people that would have to see me in swimwear in the first place - a cover up might make it easier on their eyes - we don't want any burned retinas or anything - although - maybe I could drum up some side business for Andrea then? :rolleyes1
I think that is all I have for updates. Have a great day everyone! :lovestruc
What did the doctor give you for Rufus? Did he give him tagamet or anything for his tummy? I wish your regular vet would get back! Call his office now so he/she can see Rufus first thing upon returning. They will have all the lab results from the other vet and hopefully have some ideas. :hug:
Boy, I don't have time to stop by Andrea's PTR for a couple of days and I am 6 pages behind!
I hope you can find your swim cover up but as I always say, "If somebody doesn't like how I look in my swim suit, then they should look somewhere else!"
I was beginning to think you didn't like me anymore. I understand though if it's D` you're trying to avoid -- she keeps coming over here and posting eyeglass pics.
SORRY lacking time to comment on everything. Must finish lunches and take kids to school TTFN
Thanks! :) Ruf is not doing so well... And thanks for the opinion on the glasses. :thumbsup2
Rufus update: He seemed to be doing better yesterday. He greeted me at the door when I got home from work - not as enthusiastically as he normally does, and a bit later than normal, but I took that as a good sign. We met Josh's dad for dinner in Rochester last night, and when we got home, again Ruf greeted us - he was right there - and ran to grab a toy (which is what he always does)... Then he usually yells at us for being gone soooo long, but he didn't do that. We checked the main floor for any signs that he had been sick, and we didn't see anything. I was begining to get optimistic. Then Alli went up to bed, and he had been sick all over her room. We had fed him some dinner before we left, and it does't appear that he kept any of it down. :sad2: I am just so sad, and I know the girls are heartbroken. I really don't think he has cancer, maybe cancer does present itself this way, but it just seems so sudden. He only seems the slightest bit better than when we initially brought him into the vet... At least he has kept down a few meals and he is a bit more responsive. I wish our vet would return from vacation, I would feel so much better taking him somewhere that they know him. I am not sure what we are going to do, but it is so hard to be excited about our trip, when Ruf is feeling so horrible and uncertain. :sad2:
:cheer2: I'm rooting for Rufus. :dog:
hope Josh does as he's told at work and follows dr's orders!
good luck finding the last minute things for the trip!
:rotfl: Andrea! talked to Judy last night and I HAVE A BED IN THE HOUSE! NO MATTER WHAT :rotfl::rotfl: no tenting for me! not a wilderness girl :rotfl2:
we don't have dates yet, Judy hasn't gotten all the camp schedules yet for the girls, will let you all know our dates when we figure it out! hope you can come down too!
hey I want part of that butter diet too! I :love: butter, butter is gooooood!!!
D~ pretty sure the Minnie house's are the same....you will survive the trip, just threaten they'll NEVER go again! you'll go by yourself next time!
I wanted to let you all know that the vet called us a few hours ago. Rufus has gone into kidney failure, and there isn't a thing we can do to save him. There are things we can do to prolong his life, but we really can't afford that, it would be very expensive. From what we understand, we only have a matter of days... maybe a week or two left.
I am so upset... We have all been bawling for hours... He is totally family to us and our family will just never be the same with out him.
I don't even want to think about our trip, I know the girls are just as afraid to leave him as I am, because if he lives until we leave, he will most certainly die while we are gone, and how horrible would that be? :sick: :sick: :sick:
My heart is breaking as I read this tonight. I am so, so sorry. I was hoping for a good outcome for Rufus. Having been in a similar situation with our previous shepherd, I know how difficult it is to stand by and wonder if this is the last day with your beloved family member. My heart, thoughts and prayers go out to you and your family. :grouphug:
D~ My prayers will continue. I am incredibly saddened by the news and even more so by the timing. :grouphug::grouphug: Also Praying Josh is well after his long day. :hug::hug:
