~~~SEWING my way to POFQ ~ American Girl outfits & Custom Park Bags! ~~~
I have to wonder where his 5 trips in recent years ? If so then perhaps he went during slower periods or had good luck with walk ups. :confused3
I will tell you we went maybe 7-8 times between 1989 and 1997, the only ADR we ever made were for HDDR, Horse back riding, and King Stephens Banquet(CRT) and Aladdins breakfast oh and breakfast on the Lily Belle and (Fultons now). We always ate at sit down restaurants as walk ups no problem getting a table at all. Even in 2006 when I was there for a weekend I ate at Coral Reef no reservation at prime dinner time 6-630.
In 2009 I got the shock of my life to find out everything had changed so much and there we were with just one ADR HDDR and had to beg to find a table anyplace, was a total nightmare and being it was SB the lines and no table availabilty once we did get our food has turned me off CS for life I think
I hope your co-worker will not be disappointed once he gets to WDW, it sure can be frustrating and put a big damper on an otherwise great vacation if you have no place to eat or take a nice break.
We did the character breakfast on the Lily Belle on my first ever trip to WDW! It's where Pluto decided I looked good enough to eat and put my entire upper body (I was sitting in a chair and didn't know he was behind me) in his mouth. Needless to say, I was more than a little afraid of Pluto for many many years to come. :rolleyes1
I also have to wonder if maybe they don't do TS meals when they're at Disney. . . especially since I read ahead and saw they're staying off-site with a large group - maybe they do dinner at their condo or whatever? :confused3
Both pics are awesome -- I think I like the first one best though. I love P's hat! I wish my ds would wear one.
Thanks! Yes, Phalen likes hats. I can usually find them on clearance for him, since he wears an ADULT MEN'S medium/large :scared1: The hat he has on in the pictures was a $3.00 find at Target on clearance :)
I am not sure that they were in recent years? I didn't ask. I do know that he is going with his family (parents and siblings)... Staying in a house off site.
I agree, the difference between our 2003 trip and 2008 was immense. I think a lot of people discovered the Dis and learned how to plan. :confused3
I hope so too - but it doesn't seem like he is as "into it" as I am... He just laughs when I give him our countdown for days.... He told me that he'd much rather go to Hawaii. :confused3 I told him that Disney is in Hawaii now... ROFL.
Yes, I seem to be adding stuff to the suitcase every day now... I bought hairspray for our trip yesterday. :banana: High humidity, extra hold. :thumbsup2
I know, I have not been too impressed with JoAnns lately... They have no colors of the fabric I use for my bags. So I find myself driving 40 minutes one way to JoAnns for my Gutermann thread (because Handcocks doesn't carry it), then driving 45 mintues the other direction to Handcocks for my fabric... Super annoying and wasteful!
Thanks. :lovestruc We spent the evening at our neighbor's/bff's house - she is an attorney and was kind enough to update Josh's will and redo his POA and living will... We feel better now that we have all our ducks in a row.
Well, my plans for the day are to cut out V's Goofy skirt. Then I plan to hand stitch the couch cushions... Maybe go back to assembling V's Goofy skirt (if I have time). I would also like to cut out appliques for some of our shirts... I should draw them out today and put them on fabric - then take them with me to the hospital tomorrow and cut them out while I am sitting there. :confused3 LOL - I don't think I'd actually do that.
I also plan to surf the net for a possible new cell phone provider, because I am angry with mine today.
D~
Now, we all know I love me some WDW . . . but Hawaii does sound nice :)
Love the hairspray :)
Jo-Ann's - well, you know how my trip there went yesterday - SO NOT HELPFUL!!! I was thrilled when they opened, but I expect them to have what I need and they don't :(
Stuff with wills, etc. freaks me out. . . but I'm glad you have all your ducks in a row!
Here's hopin' you get all your planned stuff done today! I need to work on mine!
OMG!!!! And I thought we were bad off! I hope you had a good downpayment and a lot of it paid off. *IF* we sell it for close to our asking price we won't have to put any money into the house at closing, but I am expecting to have to possibly put a little in depending on the offer. The best deal would be for our realtor to have one of his clients buy the house then his commission is lower which would be very beneficial to us. I am just scared b/c one house has been on the market in our neighborhood for four years now and it's similar to ours (ours is phase 2 so it's larger, but otherwise same floor plan).
we did put 20% down but still owed about $370,000 on our loan (was interest only) so they are cancel about $210,000 of my debt, just don't know how this all works out with the taxes and haven't met with my tax lady yet since still waiting on other paperwork first!
hope you won't have to fork out any extra $$ on your house!
Geez, how did I fall so far behind?!
Love the TT bag and the Goofy dress. It will look so cute with leggings and converse. Can't wait to see it in your TR :)
I wasn't planning on starting and finishing this today - but it happened, so I am OK with that. :cool1:
OK... So now I have to explain the shirt... Victoria made it in her tech ed. class... She even brought in an extra dollar so she could have the back done. :) She designed the back herself in Photoshop, and for some reason, the teacher's printer didn't print the green??? But she did a great job, I am very proud of her and she is proud of herself. :lovestruc
THAT IS FABULOUS!!!! And I just love that she screamed when she saw the skirt :woohoo:
I am just loving that skirt. I am with your DD, I nearly screamed with delight when I saw it and it's not even for me.:lmao: I especially love how you did the trim at the bottom.:love:
That is a super cute skirt and I love her reaction when she saw it. I love the shirt she made too! Good job!
Wishing you and Josh good luck tomorrow with the surgery. I'll be thinking good thoughts for you all day.
I'm a little far behind but wanted to say that your Test Track bag looks great. The Goofy ice cream dress is going to look great on your DD. For some reason I had something else in mind when you were talking about an ice cream dress. V's skirt came out really cute and I love the trim on the bottom. Her t-shirt is awesome!!! I'm so impressed that she designed that herself. :worship:
Congrats on the Mickey Mail! You girls must be really excited now.
Good luck to Josh with his surgery. I hope he has a speedy recovery.
Lisa: I hope you are not in for a surprise on your taxes this year. Such a bummer that the housing market took such a huge downturn.
Popping out of lurkdom to say:
1.) EVERYTHING you sew just seems to turn to gold. :worship: I love it all!
2.) I am praying that Josh's surgery goes flawlessly and he has a super fast recovery.
I started sewing on the Brother SE-400 it is a great little machine. I gave it to my mother so she could use it on her dining room table. I need ot show her how to use the embroidery part. Just be prepared you will eventually have hoop envy.
Yeah I already know that I will want a machine with a larger hoop but figured this onevwould be a great starter machine.
I don't know anything about the first Brother you listed... but I do know the Brother SE400 is the little brother to the PE770 (that I want)... the 400 is the 4x6 hoop and the 770 is the 5x7hoop. Both of them have the USB hook up which is very important... unless you want to carry your machine with the usb connector to your pc every time you want to put a new design on it. LOL I am not sure if the other machine you listed has a USB port or not????
D~
It definitely has the USB port but I can't remember if there were any big differences or not except the 2nd one comes with a carrying case which is nice for my sewing classes.
I wasn't planning on starting and finishing this today - but it happened, so I am OK with that. :cool1:
Love the skirt and it goes so well with the shirt which she did a fantastic job on. She definitely got her design talents from her mom.
Good luck to Josh. I had a lumbar discetomy 4 years ago. The day after was the worst for me.
Adorable! Love the fabrics (I'm a sucker for dots). She did a great job on her shirt too!
Just wanted to let you know I am thinking of you all today and sending prayers for your family.
Good luck with Josh's surgery.
We did the character breakfast on the Lily Belle on my first ever trip to WDW! It's where Pluto decided I looked good enough to eat and put my entire upper body (I was sitting in a chair and didn't know he was behind me) in his mouth. Needless to say, I was more than a little afraid of Pluto for many many years to come.
I can't imagine why Pluto would scare you?? :eek:
I also have to wonder if maybe they don't do TS meals when they're at Disney. . . especially since I read ahead and saw they're staying off-site with a large group - maybe they do dinner at their condo or whatever?
Maybe... I've just come to the conclusion that I love Disney more than the average person, and there really aren't any people IRL that want to talk about it as much as I do. But seriously, don't ask me how many days I have left until I leave, unless you want to hear about my entire trip. :rotfl2:
Thanks! Yes, Phalen likes hats. I can usually find them on clearance for him, since he wears an ADULT MEN'S medium/large The hat he has on in the pictures was a $3.00 find at Target on clearance
I find this super humorous... Because Josh has a small head - I actually used to buy his hats at Gymboree when I managed the store - they seemed to fit him the best. :laughing:
Now, we all know I love me some WDW . . . but Hawaii does sound nice
I agree, maybe we should do our Dismeet there??? :confused3
Jo-Ann's - well, you know how my trip there went yesterday - SO NOT HELPFUL!!! I was thrilled when they opened, but I expect them to have what I need and they don't
I remember when I first started sewing, I could sit in there for hours and just be overwhelmed... Not so much anymore... I can never find exactly what I want - which really sucks when you have a distinct visual in your head.
I used the last little bit of the orange dot on V's skirt yesterday. If anyone is at their JoAnn's and finds the orange dot fabric like on V's skirt (the dots are about the size of a quarter - they have a new dot which is much smaller, and that is not the right one) - please let me know and be prepared to buy me a couple yards of it. It's not imperative that I get it right away, but I would like to have some on hand because it makes the Goofy stuff perfect.
Stuff with wills, etc. freaks me out. . . but I'm glad you have all your ducks in a row!
I agree, I don't like doing it one bit... :sick:
Here's hopin' you get all your planned stuff done today! I need to work on mine!
I was happy I got a lot done yesterday.
we did put 20% down but still owed about $370,000 on our loan (was interest only) so they are cancel about $210,000 of my debt, just don't know how this all works out with the taxes and haven't met with my tax lady yet since still waiting on other paperwork first!
hope you won't have to fork out any extra $$ on your house!
I really hope your taxes go well for you this year Lisa.
Geez, how did I fall so far behind?!
Love the TT bag and the Goofy dress. It will look so cute with leggings and converse. Can't wait to see it in your TR
Thanks so much! I am pretty excited to see everything in action too. I really hope that V gets some extra lovin' from Goofy - that would just make her day!
How precious! She looks adorable in her outfit!
Thanks - I will let her know. :lovestruc
THAT IS FABULOUS!!!! And I just love that she screamed when she saw the skirt
Yup, she screamed! :banana: She's been beggin' for a skirt to go with her Goofy t-shirt for a few weeks, but I'd never planned to make the skirt. I am super glad I did, because even though it was so simple to make, it really turned out fun... Even Allison said she might want one for Mickey. :lovestruc
I am just loving that skirt. I am with your DD, I nearly screamed with delight when I saw it and it's not even for me. I especially love how you did the trim at the bottom.
Thanks Corri... The trim on the bottom was an after thought... I did buy it a couple of weeks ago with the lime green dot - but I really didn't know what I was going to do with it??? I wasn't even sure it would work sticking out of the hem like that - but I really like how it turned out too.
That is a super cute skirt and I love her reaction when she saw it. I love the shirt she made too! Good job!
Wishing you and Josh good luck tomorrow with the surgery. I'll be thinking good thoughts for you all day.
Thank you so much! (I don't think I know your first name... And I like to address people properly... Or I could just give you a name, like I've done for a few others??? :rotfl2:)
And thank you for the well wishes for Josh today. :hug:
I love love love the skirt and she did a fabulous job on the shirt.
Thanks Chiara... I will be sure to tell her!
I'm a little far behind but wanted to say that your Test Track bag looks great. The Goofy ice cream dress is going to look great on your DD. For some reason I had something else in mind when you were talking about an ice cream dress. V's skirt came out really cute and I love the trim on the bottom. Her t-shirt is awesome!!! I'm so impressed that she designed that herself.
I know - I think there was some confusion about the icecream dress - I don't think I was clear that it was the name of the pattern I was using and not necessarily the theme of the dress. :rolleyes1 Sorry about that. However, I do have an actual icecream themed outfit planned for the girls' sweet 16 trip in 2014... I've even purchased the fabric for that one already.
And thanks for the compliments on the other stuff... I just keep pluggin' along. However, I've really been working hard this last week, since I know I won't get much done with Josh in the hospital. I will let V know that you are impressed. :lovestruc
Congrats on the Mickey Mail! You girls must be really excited now.
We are getting really excited! We are just trying not to think about it too much right this minute, since we have kind of a big week coming up with Josh and the furniture being delivered (I still need to repair ours - I was gonna do that last night, but I was too tired).
Good luck to Josh with his surgery. I hope he has a speedy recovery.
Thank you.
Popping out of lurkdom to say:
1.) EVERYTHING you sew just seems to turn to gold. I love it all!
2.) I am praying that Josh's surgery goes flawlessly and he has a super fast recovery.
Sunshine
Welcome Sunshine!!! Thank you so much! I hope you'll continue to stick around and follow along. :lovestruc
And thank you for the well wishes for Josh. :hug:
Yeah I already know that I will want a machine with a larger hoop but figured this onevwould be a great starter machine.
I agree... I keep debating on what to get. I know I am going to get something. I also know that I can't afford to get the 5x7 hoop right this minute, but I could probably squeeze in a 4x6 pretty easily. I am just afraid I will have hoop envy right away. It would sure make my life a lot easier though, because something is better than nothing??? :confused3 I am going to give it some thought. I have not purchased a brand new machine since my serger last spring - and honestly, I don't use my serger as much as I thought I would. I did use it for the first time in months on V's Icecream dress and Goofy skirt though - so I am very glad that I have it. :lovestruc
It definitely has the USB port but I can't remember if there were any big differences or not except the 2nd one comes with a carrying case which is nice for my sewing classes.
See, and this is the thing I am a stickler on... My new embroidery machine must come with a USB port. DH doesn't get it - because every time we are out and about, he comes across an embroidery machine and says "You should get this one..." and I look at it and say "No" flat out. He almost looks insulted when I tell him that - but I just say... "It doesn't have a USB port - I need a USB port." I am not going to haul my embroidery machine up and down the stairs every single time I want to put a design on it. I am hoping that if he ever decides to buy me one - he will remember the necessity of a USB port. :wizard:
Love the skirt and it goes so well with the shirt which she did a fantastic job on. She definitely got her design talents from her mom.
Thanks! :) Yah, they say that kids learn more by watching than anything else - so a lot of things just come very naturally to V because of watching me. I've never once sat down and taught her how to use Photoshop, she just does it on her own. :thumbsup2 Same with sewing, except for the initial few days, she has just learned by watching me (which isn't always the best way to do things). The other day, she sat down at her new Christmas machine (which she hasn't done for a few weeks) and she asked me how to thread it - I told her to pull out her manual and look. :rotfl2: That's what I would have had to do, since all of our machines thread so differently.
Good luck to Josh. I had a lumbar discetomy 4 years ago. The day after was the worst for me.
Thank you... Yes, I am very worried about the day after. That's the day he is supposed to be released... :eek:
Adorable! Love the fabrics (I'm a sucker for dots). She did a great job on her shirt too!
Thanks! :) I will let her know.
Today is the big day for Josh. I just wanted to say, again, how much I appreciate your prayers and support. I don't ask for prayers often, because I understand that many people have many belief systems, and I don't want to offend. But if you pray and you feel inclined, please send some extra our way today. :lovestruc
I have been trying hard not to think about Josh's surgery, I don't do well with being put under myself, so just the thought of Josh going under makes me :eek: I am sure it will be fine though. We have to leave for the hospital at 8:30am and I am hoping to be home by about 5pm... I am going to wait for Josh to get out of surgery and settled in his room, then I need to head home to make dinner for V (Alli will be at a bday party tonight). I plan to go back to the hospital tomorrow with the girls, but I have to run and get groceries in the morning first - becuase of Josh - I am not sure when I will have the next opportunity. We will spend the day there and hopefully he will be released, as well. I will try to update when I can... I will probably be trying to surf the net all day with my phone, but I know I have really awful reception at the hospital, so I don't know how productive I will be.
So, have a great day everyone. :grouphug:
D~
I already said it on my PTR, but going to repeat myself here (and you should know I :love: ya, because I hate to repeat myself :lmao:).
I'm thinking of Josh and your family today. I'd love to see a post or text tonight to keep us all updated on how awesome things went. :hug::hug::hug:
My thoughts and prayers are also with you and your family today.:hug:
Hoping that Josh's surgery goes well.:thumbsup2
I will check JoAnnes today and get you a couple of yards if I see it. I will let you know and bring it with me to WDW if I see it.:goodvibes
Both of the Jo-Ann's here are out :( I really thought the Mooresville store might have it (near DH's work) because they had a ton the last time I was in there . . . but no such luck.
Now, that said, do you want me to check MaryJo's the next time I'm there? No coupons, etc. but it's generally $6 or so a yard, so not horrible (not great either). The other option is to have Mimi check Just Fabrics next time she's in there (but Michelle would probably get there sooner than Mimi ;) )... I got some FABULOUS red Minnie dot there that is so much nicer than the Jo-Ann's stuff.
Sent you a text, but know you are all in my prayers and thoughts today. :hug:
Do you sell those park bags? How much are they? Do you have other characters? I have missed some of your reort and will try to go back and catch up soon.
First and foremost, my thoughts are with Josh, his medical team, and you and the girls today. (My sister used to say people paid her to wake them up when they were at the hospital. She was an anesthetist, so she put people to sleep, but what they REALLY wanted was to wake up afterwards.)
:goofy: The ice cream dress.
:goofy: The t-shirt
:goofy: The skirt.
WONDERFULICIOUS!
