~~~SEWING my way to POFQ ~ American Girl outfits & Custom Park Bags! ~~~
Thanks everyone... I just complained to the mgr when I called... They are completely refunding my $$. :thumbsup2 I was able to improvise and make it work. :cool1:
I will be posting pics shortly, uploading them right now.
Hey D, if you have any old yarn you might be able to use it as cording...or if you have kitchen twine. I have even used some cheap nylon closes line from the dollar tree store, 'cause it was the closest thing I had to 1/4 in cord late, late one night.
Finally got oldest DS married, still recovering. No pics yet...did a lot of work and today is the first day back online in over a week.
AND what I missed here! I am in total LOVE with the Figment bag! I have rarely lusted so much for anything, DH included... ok, not really. But that Figment bag is a very,very close 2nd to him. And he buys me sewing machines every few years...so that is saying a lot! I've loved everything you have done, but WOW!
And I do need to get some pics up. The Flower girl and my DN, Jr.B'maid, both wore Tangled dresses for the wedding rehersal. I made DN's and have scraps, hint,hint...
Also found several dozen 3-4 inch zippers in a few colors...could be used somehow on one of your bags? Ready for some more stuff? Not that I am trying to off load the overload in my sewing room, but it would be nice to be able to walk into the room and get to the sewing table without being attacked by stuff...
Keep up the great work, hope to be on more soon!
Hey stranger - I am glad to see you back! :lovestruc
As usual, you have some great ideas... I was able to make it work - I ended up using the cording out of one of my prepackaged piping. It worked and I was able to do what I wanted to do. :lovestruc
I can't wait to see all of the wedding pictures and the practice pictures - I am sure that everything you made was wonderful!
Annnd... You know me, I will always take whatever anyone is willing to send - you never know how it will inspire me. :wizard: I still have some great ideas of what I want to make out of the last box you sent me - but I have just been so busy... Hopefully after Christmas, I will get to do more creative things. :lovestruc
Anyways, great to see you back... I hope we'll see more of you now. :hug:
So D~ was brainstorming last night....no comments please :lmao: and thought of a new series for AG outfits! different disney movie's
Mary Poppins
Lady and the Tramp
Aristocats
Bambi
the old classic's! and ironically these are our favorites of the classic films ;)
So, this bag has taken me much longer to finish than I would have liked. Between having some minor health issues and some annoying machine issues - I seem to have gotten both figured out, and back on track.
I have been looking forward to making this bag for a long time... One of my favorite little people is going to test it out for me, in a few weeks, and I am anxious to get her opinion...
This bag is themed after my 2nd favorite "Disney" movie - which isn't a Disney movie at all - Pixar, of course. I picked the theme and my tester picked out the characters, even though she doesn't know it.
As usual, the exterior of this bag is fully quilted. The interior is fully lined with a fun and coordinating fabric... There are a few added features that I tried to tailor to this age bracket.
Front:
IMG_22621.jpg
I like to use exterior fabrics that are lighter colors, just in case the person carrying it wants a character to autograph the exterior of the bag (and make it into a true Disney souvinier) - it is easy enough to see:
Main zipper pocket interior:
IMG_22643.jpg
I did include a wallet strap on this bag, just because my tweens would carry a wallet, and as a mom, I would feel better if we could attach it to something.
Close-up of the cow print piping:
IMG_22654.jpg
Interior of the back quilted slip in pocket for park maps:
IMG_22687.jpg
THe finished size of this bag is approximately 10.25"wide x 8" high. This is a perfect park bag for a Tween, Teen or smaller adult that doesn't like to carry a lot into the park.
The strap is fully adjustable - I tried the bag on myself - and it fits me.
IMG_22632.jpg
Which leads me to why this is labeled the "Medium Autograph Park Bag" - I really like this simple style a lot, however, when I tried it on - for a larger adult (like myself) it looked a bit small, so I feel a "Larger" one in my future... However, I have several orders to finish up for the holidays, so I probably won't get to the larger bag until those are done.
D~
D~ LOVE IT!!!!! you did an amazing job! they don't look like they got smashed in the face!
I know a very lucky girl is going to LOVE it too!!! can't wait to see it in person and Megan's reaction to it...yes I will take lots of photos!!!
AWESOME! I love all of those!!! Phalen went through a Lady & the Tramp phase . . . and an Aristocats phase . . . Even DH is pretty sure he could recite Aristocats at this point ;)
Adorable!!!!
Now, Marianne must get OFF the internet and get some outfits made! My trip is commencing in 10 days and I am NOT ready!!!!:scared1:
I love the new bag. All the details are fantastic. I really want to learn how to do applique before my next trip (but need to plan my next trip I guess:confused3).
:love: It's wonderful. Such detail. I love all the thought that went into it. I'd probably be needing one myself if I had any trips to Disney World planned. Which I don't.
Maybe you and Patience should switch names, because you sure go a lot if it!
Hmpf to D~ for trying to blame me for the pole dancing you tube tut when it was Ginger all along -- you can even see the camcorder filming her!
Thanks Cheryl ;)
Me <-----who certainly had nothing to do with the picture of Ginger pole dancing
Of course, Andrea had nothing to do with me finding out about this whole pole dancing episode.
It's not like she could Facebook me, I'm too old to learn Facebook.
It's not like she could twitter/tweet/twoot me. (See above.)
It's not like she would PM me about something so trivial.
She doesn't have my home phone number so she couldn't call me.
She probably thinks I don't have a cell phone. (See above.)
She knows where I live (south of the A in CANADA DRY for you newbies) but didn't have time to get a letter to me.
Money's tight for her, so I know she wouldn't send me a telegram.
She certainly wouldn't drive up here to tell me about it.
It's been cloudy so smoke signals would have been useless.
Mental telepathy's highy overrated, so that's out.
IF, and it's a BIG IF, IF Andrea had anything to do with me finding out about D~'s sordid pole dancing past, it would have to be that she had access to my email address from a mass Big Give mailing. Now come on, seriously, does anyone think Andrea would actually contact me that way??
Let's see a show of hands.
Lovely! Some of that fabric looks familiar!
We had a big Aristocats phase at our house too, and we go through 101 Dalmatian spells as well.
I can't believe your trip is just 10 days a way! I see some late nights in your future. When we did our early Dec trip dh was at sea for two months prior so I just stayed up until all hours of the night sewing -- shopped during the day for fabric while the kids were at school and sewed when they went to bed.
You have e-mail Cheryl? Now you tell me. That poor pony did all tht work and I could have just e-mailed you?
Seriously D~, we don't have a pony. I think the video on you tube just leaked when Ginger was about to announce her announce her bid in running for the GOP nomination.
:lmao::lmao::lmao::lmao::lmao:
wait I know how....the pony express :lmao::lmao::lmao:
Only ponies in our house are stuffed -- though we may have enough to team up and do a run to upstate NY!
ME <------ NOT a pole dancer like D~ and Ginger.....I just sit at home and sew G rated items.
Thanks everyone... I really do like the TS bag myself - so I wouldn't be too surprised if I end up with one for our trip.
Dd tried it on last night (she is about the same size as Megan) and it fit her perfectly... She loved it so much, that she requested one for our trip... I also need to get to work making a couple of items for the girls for Christmas. For as much as I sew, my girls really have nothing that I make - which is pretty sad.
:love: It's wonderful. Such detail. I love all the thought that went into it. I'd probably be needing one myself if I had any trips to Disney World planned. Which I don't.
Cheryl... we have room in our room if you want to join us??? Then we could, for sure, book an extra 2 days. :banana: And I am sure my girls wouldn't mind bunking with a total stranger that they've never met. :rolleyes1
:Maybe you and Patience should switch names, because you sure go a lot if it!
Not really... I just had an annoying week. I am happy to have the old Brother back on the counter top, and sewing sort-of half-way decent appliques.
Cheryl... I just think you found out on your own - I know how you enjoy stalking my PTR. :surfweb:
I am more concerned how Andrea found out I had a pole in my room, in the first place. :rolleyes1
Lovely! Some of that fabric looks familiar!
I have been so anxious to use this fabric - it is some of my favorite TS fabric out there. :lovestruc
We had a big Aristocats phase at our house too, and we go through 101 Dalmatian spells as well.
Sleeping Beauty and Strawberry Shortcake were ours... My youngest dd would watch Sleeping Beauty for MONTHS in a row, multiple times per day. :headache:
When we did our early Dec trip dh was at sea for two months prior so I just stayed up until all hours of the night sewing -- shopped during the day for fabric while the kids were at school and sewed when they went to bed.
I am so jealous... 10 days away.... :lovestruc And then to be able to shop for fabric all day long and sew all night long... I could only dream of that. You must be married to an Officer. LOL
I might get a bit of sewing done today... I have to work for a little while this afternoon, and then I am off for the weekend. I know I won't get a lot of sewing done this weekend though, because we will be busy prepping for TG. Josh's brother and his wife fly in from The Netherlands on Sunday (not staying with us - her parents have a house here) and Josh's parents fly in from LA on Wednesday (also not staying here, they have a house here)... But I will still be busy cleaning...
D~
In my frantic attempt to finish the Medium Autograph Bag, I forgot to post my Pixie Dusting from Marianne...
It's not often you hear D~ squeal with delight - but I am sure you heard it.
First of all... Marianne found a Donald Duck T-shirt for me... Isn't he cute???
IMG_22745.jpg
And then, about a month ago, she approached me with a T-shirt idea she had... So, I worked on designing her idea, so she could make a t-shirt for her trip. I had planned to have her make one for my trip, but I had no idea that she was going to make it for me now... I just love it! :lovestruc
IMG_22734.jpg
And probably my favorite item in the box - because I am such a dork... She sent me a Donald Duck pen for my purse. When you click the pen tip out, his body pops out of his head - just super fun and I get great joy from clicking it. :lovestruc
IMG_22691.jpg
IMG_22712.jpg
And here he is, hangin' out in my Duck Butt purse, with my other Pixie Dust, until we leave for our trip... Just adorable!
IMG_22723.jpg
:lovestruc Thanks Marianne!!! I am so excited! :lovestruc
D~ (or Marianne) send that idea to Miss Heather Sue please...then maybe she can make us a n embroidery design similar to that...I would LOVE one of those for the park!
Nini
We tried... She doesn't have time right now... Maybe if enough people request it - she might, but I have a feeling that the design is quite complicated??? I dunno - I don't digitize - but I agree completely that it would be MUCH better as an embroidery (Marianne agress too).
And I am not sure how that would work... It wouldn't be completely fair if it was Marianne's idea, my design and HS digitized it - yet she would get all the profit from the idea - KWIM? Because there would be 3 people specifically involved in that design, but only one person would reap the rewards? Make sense? And that might be the other reason HS didn't want to do it? I dunno. :lovestruc
D~
Love the donald shirt and pen! what a cute idea for the disboutique shirt too!
here's an idea if HeatherSue did make it up....send all the proceeds to GKTW!
