~~~SEWING my way to POFQ ~ American Girl outfits & Custom Park Bags! ~~~
Both of my kids loved this outfit. They were oohing and aahing over the ribbon ruffles. I can't wait to see what's next!
Thank you. :lovestruc
Just catching up - LOVE the ribbon ruffles on the dolly feliz. You are right Goofy is such fun to work with.
Thank you. :lovestruc
I was able to get a lot accomplished on my BG outfit last night - it is super cute! I plan to finish it this morning. I am not sure what to do next? I have 3 more outfits to make for Rubberduckyranch, and 2 more to complete this series I am working on.
Southwest is one of the few remaining free bag airlines, which fortunately flies out of Albany. Oh, wait, that won't help D~ too much.
I own Disney stock, so all I can say is BUY those overpriced suitcases at the resorts. BUY BUY BUY <------- obviously in need of a little yellow headed guy throwing $ $ $ up in the air.
Southwest flies out of Norfolk as well. But if you drive to Dis you can take as many suitcases as your Hybrid will hold and only stop for gas once to fill your 10 gallon tank :) D really should live closer to me, it would make her life easier.
My sister has Dis stock though I think her dh may have gotten in it the divorce -- they made oodles off of it initially -- I think it split.
Unfortunately, no. So, in an effort to save $$, maybe the girls and I will take the Grayhound?
Cheryl... I knew it... You're loaded. I could just tell by the way you type.
D~
If you take the Greyhound chances are you will never want to leave your house again. When on a family vacation to CA we took the greyhound from LA to SD (wouldn't want to rent a car now would we) and I thought I was going to get sick. It was miserable. This was a family vacation when I was a child, planned by my mother who washes and hangs paper towels out to dry so they can be reused.
I know Cheryl is rolling in the dough as well. You saw the bike she bought for her soda bottle, didn't you?
Oh, and make one of your girls do the hair accessories as a part of volunteering to do something nice today to commemorate those affected by 9-11.
ROFLMAO!!! Excellent idea... That's how I can save $$ for Disney. :worship:
Your Mom is a total genius! :banana:
I did... must be nice.
We went out for dinner last night, and dd asked for Ginger Ale... it was delivered in a teeny, tiny glass bottle - it was so cute. So, I thought of Ginger all night. Dd wanted to keep the bottle, DH said no way, and I just chuckled, as I thought of my GA bottle sitting on my shelf in the sewing room. I honestly have no idea why dd would want to keep a GA bottle - I don't get it at all. :rotfl2:
I will try... I worked my youngest dd until 10 pm last night making hair accessories. I gave her a list... I always get lots of help when they're grounded. :rolleyes1
Lucky you! All I get is extra pouting when mine are grounded! Luckily they don't get grounded very often!
I think that's why I have so many typos, because I have to hold my pinky up when I type.
Yes, let's try and stay on topic please. :rolleyes1
D~
Let's see . . . the topic is sewing, right? I'm working on my 'one for work, one for play, one for a rainy day' series of the popover dresses. Today I hope to finish the last one. I'll be sewing it. Yesiree, this is a sewing thread so I'll be sewing.
With SW I leave Albany and arrive non-stop in Orlando 2 hours and 40 minutes later. We've talked about driving, especially when the boys were younger and it meant four airfares, but flying always wins.
You left it there? :scared1:
Can you give me directions to the restaurant? Say I was starting at your house :rolleyes1 (Andrea, weren't you going to send me the address?) how would I get there?
:moped:<---- let me warm up the old Sidetracker
Lucky you! All I get is extra pouting when mine are grounded! Luckily they don't get grounded very often!
When I ground them, I take everything away... TV, Phones, Ipods, computers, park... everything. They have nothing to do, but to help me (or bug me)... I've come to the conclusion that grounding is more a punishment for me than it is for them.
Actually, what I love even more, is when DH grounds them... because he is gone at work all day. Thanks... thanks a lot. :confused3
Me too.Luckily the girl is actually a pretty good kid right now
DD knows I am really seroius when I take the computer, Ipod and Ipad LOL
I am not very happy with how this one turned out. :confused3
First of all - it didn't photograph well at all. The red is actually dark pink. And the dress isn't lopsided - I promise - I just can't take pictures. :rolleyes1 I do love how the hair clip turned out though - I was actually in the mood to make those tonght (I usually procrastinate so long on hair accessories that it can set me back weeks)... I figured I better do as many as I could while I felt like it. :rotfl2:
Anyways... #48:
:woohoo: WOW love them all. Can't wait to see what other outfits you come up with.:goodvibes
We use the Magical Express all the time and it saved my DH's back this time as we had TEN bags we checked in plus all our carryons. :scared1:Thank God that Southwest still allows 2 bags per person:)
Yes, paddle across the lake to the boat landing. Beach the canoe. Walk 3.72 miles north, hang a left at the stop sign - and it's there on the right. Can't miss it. :thumbsup2
LOL I read that the first time as "DH"... I thought "Whoa - don't mess with Chiara". :worship:
This is good to know... I think I am going to SW website right now (probably haven't release fares for my trip yet)... but if I figure in the cost of baggage - it may be worth it to fly with them.
I just finished up my BG outfit... Now on to outfit #46. :)
I got crazy busy at work so I didn't get a chance to comment on this outfit. I'm sorry that it didn't come out as you had pictured in your mind. I hate when that happens. I think she's adorable and you don't have to love every outfit you just need to find one person to buy it who loves it and I don't you'll have any trouble finding lots who love it.
This is probably one of my favorite... I just love working with this character.
LOVE this Goofy outfit! Can I tell you a little secret I'm afraid to say here? I'm not a huge fan of butt ruffles. Wonder where my tomboy gets her non frilly tastes?:rotfl: I love the butt ruffles on this outfit though. Great job!
Excellent... Can't wait to see.
Just finished the last one so I'm popping in to ask a question -- maybe two.
Do you ever make the straps a tiny bit wider?
Think Jiffyshirts will ever make popover blanks? My delicate little fingers are steam burnt from pressing the straps.
Yes, paddle across the lake to the boat landing. Beach the canoe. Walk 3.72 miles north, hang a left at the stop sign - and it's there on the right. Can't miss it. :thumbsup2
I got out my big black Sharpie and I'm a gonna write L and R on my hands to make sure I don't take any wrong turns.
Here I come 'dorable little GA bottle. :boat:
And SW flight attendants will sing if the passengers have been good, but they don't serve full cans of soda -- gotta hold out for JetBlue for that.
:drinking:
OK, I'm all caught up on your PTR. It was fun to watch your ticker change as you finished dresses since it took me a few days to read it.
:worship: I can't believe that you just started sewing again when you first started posting on the disboutique page. I think I can picture you digging in the closet to get that sewing machine. Your skills are amazing and I love all the dresses you have made so far. I think Goofy might be my favorite but the Jasmine is beautiful. Glad to see you are putting your girls to work when they are grounded!
The pictures from your previous trips are so cute.
As for flying, SW is great especially if you want to check your bags since the cost of checking a bag adds so much to the cost of the flight (x3 in your case). There used to be thread on the DIS about SW and their Ding fares. They had some good tips, one of them was to book both parts of your flight as separate transactions so if you come across a sale you can rebook the one segment and get a credit with out having to mess with the other half of your flight. When using ME be sure to bring a carry on bag with everything you need for the first day just in case - I usually pack our toothbrushes, PJs, bathing suits and first day outfits. Sometimes you bags don't get delivered right away so it keeps you from waiting to go to bed in case your bags have not arrived yet.
Can't wait to see your next creation.
This one is an order for Rubberduckyranch.
Not usually... Most of the time, I cheat. I used the double fold bias tape that you can buy almost anywhere in a bunch of colors - saves me about an hour of cutting/folding/ironing. I didn't realize you were making so many of these, or I would have told you sooner. :lovestruc
Yupper, I am a sewing newbie... I haven't even been sewing a year. :thumbsup2
Glad to see you are putting your girls to work when they are grounded!
Might as well make them useful. :rotfl2:
Those are some excellent tips! Thanks so much.
Fares are really high right now... $200+ one way. Ouch... No thanks. If I can't get a cheaper fare, I will seriously reschedule our trip. Free dining or no free dining.
D~ <--- waiting for the fares to drop.
I :love: Ariel -- especially the skirt. The teeny tiny stitching, the color choices, the design. Yummy!
Did the smiley company make the little yellow guy hitting himself on the head yet? I need him.
Good to know about the bias tape. I sorta wondered about it.
ROFL... Yah - you go get that 'dorable' little GA bottle. :rotfl2:
And quite the sacrifice I'll be making, because -- just to review -- I don't like soda!
I just made my first flower for Dorrrine's hair. It's sewn. It's wonky. Is hot glueing allowed?
:confused: <----- see how I'm being proactive asking before I make 500? (While my delicate little fingers have burns from the steam iron I may as well add some hot glue burns.)
Luckily my DH mostly works from home. He hates it the most when the kids are grounded because the disrupt his work. I usually only have to threaten to take away cell phones before my two shape up.:rotfl:
So what is a popover blank???? And I love the pre-made bias tape. To be honest, I've never made my own bias tape. I guess I am a lazy sewer.
Hi, boy you were popular 3 pages to get caught up on since yesterday afternoon :thumbsup2
love the new Ariel and saw something else you created for a special little girl , she is going to :love: it! you are so sweet to do that!
ROFL... You are so nice. I just go for it, I don't do one thing at a time, I just take it all. I have them deliver everything to me - so then I have a pile of phones/ipods that I have to hide. Or better yet - I turn their phones on "meeting" so they vibrate - and that drives them crazy because then they know they are getting messages that they can't check. Honestly - they only thing they ever get grounded for is being mean to eachother. Otherwise they are very good kids. :lovestruc
I guess I didn't realize how many pages I go through - I just pop in here when I log in - are you sure it's not just me talking to myself? I do that a lot.
Thank you - I love the other one you are referring to also... It just turned out so sweet.
I am not sure I will get to my machine very much today. I have to work - believe it or not. :rolleyes1 And then DH's back has been doing better the last few days, so he is going to try and work on my old van - which means he said he needed my help this afternoon. I am hoping to get progress on something tonight after dinner, that way I can work on it all day tomorrow.
I have 4 outfits I'd really like to complete by the end of the week - but I am not sure it will happen. :guilty: I want to finish up my newest Fab 5 series, and I want to finish up my order for RDR - I will be able to complete them all by the end of the weekend for sure.
On a trip note... the girls are so excited, so am I. We've never taken a vacation alone anywhere - and to be honest, I am not sure I would do it anywhere else, other than Disney. I just always feel so safe there. I told the girls I was nervous to be traveling alone with them - because I am such a worry wart - and they just rolled their eyes.
Sounds good - I will PM you later today. When did you need it by?
do you think you could fit it in before we leave in Oct? if not that's okay can be a xmas gift!
I can't wait for the reveal! she is going to do this :banana:
good luck with all your projects today!
don't stress about travelling with the girls, I have done lots of trips by myself with Megan and Disney is a great place for you to "get your feet wet" so easy, safe and fun what more can you ask for!
