~~~SEWING my way to POFQ ~ American Girl outfits & Custom Park Bags! ~~~
Oh yes, the puppy is actually being good. Sleeping and chewing on her toy. Did I mention I caught her chewing on my Princess D&B? I cried! :sad: But I caught her before major damage was done.
Lesson learned! Do NOT leave expensive, favorite leather bag on floor! (You'd think that was common sense? :confused3 )
ANYWAY, I even got an update done! :thumbsup2
..... And - I just couldn't handle having a mismatched lanyard - I was going to make one out of the matching fabric, and then I happened to find this grosgrain ribbon when I was looking for the lanyard hardware that I just (ahem) happend to have...
And with the wallet:
On to my next project... The Up! bag, that I know I've been dragging on... :rolleyes1
D~
Oh I LOVE this too! :lovestruc And I am DYING to see The Up! bag! That is one of my FAVORITE movies! :cloud9: It so precious!
ATTENTION D~!!!!!!!
Zulily has the zebra shoes on sale today for $44 -- hurry -- sizes go quickly -- I lost a pair of boots and a pair of legwarmers (for dd) while I was still shopping for other shoes. Bad thing is though there are no returns. I ordered two pairs of boots and a pair of flats for myself so I am very hopeful they all fit.
Shoot... I missed them!!! Thanks for letting me know. :thumbsup2
So cute! I don't know how you can applique those tiny letters though! I do well with hand applique on large things, but little details aren't my friends.
I am not sure how I do it either (like most things). I just do.
ACK!!! Don't let the puppy get the Princess bag - that would be horrible!
Oooh headed to look at your update quick...
D I love the Wallet it is adorable.
Thanks Chiara! :thumbsup2
D~ <---- Back to work again, lunch is over.
I love all your newest creations!! I thought that was my Mickey bag until you said it had some small changes, then I noticed it was a little different. That's OK then, mine is still one of a kind :goodvibes I can't wait to try it out next week!
....
In order of importance:
1. Alli's Up messenger bag
2. Alli's matching Up zippered wallet
3. Victoria's pirate skirt (done)
4. Alli's pirate skirt (almost done)
5. D's pirate skirt (not started)
6. Victoria's Goofy pirate appliqued t-shirt (still need to buy the shirt - thinking brown or green)
7. Alli's Mickey pirate appliqued t-shirt (still need to buy the shirt - thinking red)
8. D's Donald pirate appliqued t-shirt (still need to buy the shirt - thinking black or grey)
9. D's Donald appliqued sweatshirt (already purchased, just need to applique)
10. D's smaller TS bag
11. D would really like to do a "surprise theme" Epcot bag
12. V's Icecream dress
13. A's Icecream dress
14. Something with the Donald squares Marianne sent... ??? Not sure what yet.
Depending if I get the much wanted zebra shoes...
15. AK bag
16. AK skirt
17. Maybe an AK shirt too???
I can tell already - only half of this is gonna get done... I still have a few bag orders in here, which I need to do, because I still need more $$. :rolleyes1
I've been trying to work on my bag orders during the week, and then work on our stuff on the weekends. If I am able to finish the bag orders earlier than intended, I've been using the remainder of the week to finish our projects.
D~
:confused: That is a long list!
Love the wallet. I think it turned out really cute.:goodvibes
Thanks Diane! :thumbsup2
Oooh and I really want to thank you for your Allegria review... Which pair do you have? I have heard that they run big. I know I need to order them really soon (like before DH has surgery and he is here all the time - no sneaking in pkgs then)... I am just trying to time the order right, so they don't come on his days off. :rotfl2: I must do it soon, because I need time to break them in...
D~ <---Back to work - honest.
Love the new TS wallet and the lanyard. They look super! I agree with Andrea that I just don't know how you applique those tiny little letters!
The back of your sewing room door is definitely starting to look pretty full. I can't wait to see what it looks like a month from now.
I did not find my Allegria shoes needed very much breaking in. I put them on and wore them every single day for a week when I first got them. My feet didn't hurt at all. I do wish I'd ordered one size down since they are just a tad looser than I'd prefer. Next time I order from their website I am going to order down one size.
Yes, yours is still OOAK... I am going to do my best to have every bag I make to be OOAK, I don't enjoy doing anything twice. I hope to hear a review when you get back... and I hope you'll post a few pics too! :thumbsup2
Thanks... Yes, the list is scaring me.
I wish I could tell you what I do - I just press the pedal and go...
I'll probably have to steal the back of the girls' doors too. :thumbsup2
This is good to know... I ordered them today... I got a Eu 38... which they said is a women's 8 - 8.5. I usually wear an 8.5-9, so I am hoping that they aren't too big, as I have heard that they do run big. I have free return shipping, so if they are too big, I'll just exchange them.
I made excellent progress on the Up! bag today... I've managed to complete almost all of it, now I just need to do the applique, and assemble. I even cut out Alli's matching zip wallet... Not sure what to applique on it though??? Can't wait to cross this huge project off of my list.
I plan to work on a bag order this week, then next on my list is to finish our pirate skirts, and applique my Donald sweatshirt... That should take me through the end of the week. popcorn::
good luck getting through all your projects! you can do it D~ :cheer2::cheer2:
I was thinking the head of Kevin the bird for the wallet...but the balloons would be good too,,,I think Doug needs/deserves a larger surface:rotfl:
OK... Allison and I figured out who is going to be the *star* of her bag... Appearantly, she thinks her mom can do the most difficult applique in this entire world... I guarantee this will be more than a 1 day applique.... I will be crying by the time this bag is done - I just know it. Athene... I think I'll be using some of the items from the box you sent...
D~
Awww... Thanks Lisa. :hug:
I just had to come on and give an Up bag update...
The applique took me 3 hours of cutting and piecing this morning... It's insanity at it's best. Now, it's time to go bond with Mr. Rocket and pray he doesn't wreck this applique. :wizard: I know that I won't finish it today - like I'd hoped... I will probably have to set it aside for a few days, so I can work on an order.
D~
This sound like a fabulous appliqué. Can't wait to see.
I have been finishing some cleaning and figuring out how to put a pocket on easy fits
The screams echo through the arena, as the crowds anxiously await the unveiling....
:rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2:
Totally kidding, of course. Well, maybe not. We shall see.
So, most people that read my PTR, know that I have this OCDP issue. They also know that I love the Vera Bradley Hipster, it is my preferred bag to carry at all times, however, there were some quirks that I just couldn't get over.
I really thought about writing to VB, but who was going to listen to me? Probably no one. Even if they did modify my favorite bag to fit with in my criteria - it still wouldn't be Disney. See where I am going with this?
So, the strange person that I am, I decided that I would take it upon myself to create the perfect Disney park bag for me.
1. It had to be Donald
2. It must be supurb in quality
3. It must be quilted
4. It had to have a padded & adjustable crossbody strap
5. It must have a LGMH
6. It must have a zipper closure
7. It must have a slip pocket for park maps
8. It must have a small front zip pocket
9. It must be a bit bigger than the Hipster
10. It must have a clasp inside to attach my wallet to
11. It must have some sort of contraption to hold my water bottle upright
12. It must have a pocket to fit my Mini-Planner
13. It must have a pocket for my Sharpie
14. It must have quilted interior pockets
15. It must be FUN!
I wasn't sure I could live up to my requirements. But I think I did pretty good.
Requirement #1 - It must be Donald
Requirement #2 - It must be supurb in quality
Requirement #3 - It must be quilted
IMG_21443.jpg
Requirement #4 - It had to have a padded & adjustable crossbody strap (which I didn't photograph well)
Requirement #5 - It must have a LGMH
IMG_21498.jpg
Requirement #6 - It must have a zipper closure
IMG_215211.jpg
Requirement #7. - It must have a slip pocket for park maps
IMG_21465.jpg
IMG_21487.jpg
Requirement #8 - It must have a small front zip pocket
IMG_21476.jpg
Requirement #9 - It must be a bit bigger than the Hipster
IMG_215413.jpg
IMG_215514.jpg
Requirement #10 - It must have a clasp inside to attach my wallet to
Requirement #11 It must have some sort of contraption to hold my water bottle upright
Requirement #12 - It must have a pocket to fit my Mini-Planner
Requirement #13 - It must have a pocket for my Sharpie
Requirement #14 - It must have quilted interior pockets
IMG_21432.jpg
(back side of quilted interior pocket)
IMG_21411.jpg
Wallet clasp and water bottle contraption (which neither can be seen very well)
IMG_215312.jpg
Requirement #15 - It must be FUN!
(The back - who can really resist a Duck Butt???)
IMG_21509.jpg
(And Donald's hat as a zipper pull?)
IMG_215110.jpg
And in case you were wondering... You could carry a heavy Passporter in here - if you were so inclined... Which I am not.
IMG_215615.jpg
And, just because I can, and he's cute...
You have my email? it is the same ido....at aol.
You have NO idea how happy I am that you can/might use some of the stuff I sent.... I found more! And I can NOT wait to see more of your great stuff, I am in AWE of everything you do!
Hope Mr Rocket is behaving himself! You saw the craziness I got into today . . . (I had three projects going at once - laundry, house cleaning, and reorganization of sewing area . . . sewing area won) :rotfl2:
This sound like a fabulous appliqué. Can't wait to see.
I have been finishing some cleaning and figuring out how to put a pocket on easy fits
Interior or exterior pocket? Where did you end up putting the pocket??
I've done a couple of different things with putting pockets on easy fits . . .so I'm interested to see what someone else came up with :)
Now don't tell me that! I absolutely CANNOT go to Mary Jo's tomorrow yet now I want to so I could meet you!
And I agree - I'm constantly finding myself in awe of what D~ can do with fabric and a sewing machine!
mphalens- I am "really" going up to RockHill to take stuff to my DS at winthrop U...but if I am going to be that close...
So I am going to Mary Joes AND IKEA....'cause I need to? Also there is a store in Gastonia that sells thread and interfacing and stuff, about 10 minuets away. And DS said that there is a Disney store in one of the malls. So I might "need" to to hit that up also. I only hope I have enought time! Cause it is going to take at least 40 to 60 min out of my day to get the stuff to DS. If he is up, and IF he gets the list of stuff he left home....which is the "real" reason for the trip.
Or so I told my DH...heheheh.
OH, and is there any places near Charlotte that has discount ribbon/trim/notions? I will need to find stuff for the local High School show, we are doing FAME in 6+ weeks, and have 37 kids x 6 costumes...I only need some stuff to fix the things the kids come up with. Like elastic to make legging out of sweaters from the thrift store. And some hair scrunchies. And a bunch of white zippers and white buttons so I can dye them the colors I want, plastic ones.
just have to share.....look what we got today
most is gone, but was pretty to look at....supposed to get more tonight and tomorrow....Megan is hoping for no school Tuesday too!
WOW! Love your travel organizer! And the Mickey bag and Figment bags too!
DH took a look at my laptop today and was able to fix it.:banana: I've been without my laptop since early November. Great to have it back.
I'm back from my marathon trip and happy to report that I did complete the half. You would LOVE the medal! Now my friend & I are trying to decide if we do the DL half on Labor Day to get the Coast to Coast medal. I won't try to do another half without training like I did this one. I thought it would kill me around mile 11 but I couldn't give up at that point.
I booked a bounceback trip for May for my birthday with just my youngest at ASMovies. So I should start thinking about what I can make. We are hoping to get a Dalmation room so maybe I should making something do go with that. She loves dogs and I've always wanted to make her a strip skirt with Disney dogs but not sure if I have the time to do that.
Can not wait to see your Up bag!
