~~~SEWING my way to POFQ ~ American Girl outfits & Custom Park Bags! ~~~
:
WOW what a great job she did. Weird though how Chiara's post posted first.:confused:
The Dis has been up to some weird things lately... :confused3 I've had that a few times in my PTR, where things get quoted before the actual post shows up. :surfweb:
:
Everything looks so cute but I really love those reindeer pops:lmao:
THanks, I think I gained 20lbs alone yesterday... D~ was very naughty and only snacked on Christmas goodies until dinner time - then I was craving meat - I wonder why. :rotfl2:
The dress is awesome! I love that she made it all by herself. The whole dress is great but the Tink embroidered on the chest is amazing. I can't write that neatly with a pen and she sewed that on! Amazing!
I agree, I was just so impressed with it. I keep telling her that she did a marvelous job.
Your Pooh cakes are adorable. I've never done any cake decorating. I don't think I have the patience for it. :rotfl:
Those Pooh cakes took me FOREVER to make... If I recall correctly - it was 2 full days of decorating... I think those were the last cakes I have ever done. :confused3
I would like to jump into the computer screen and snack on some of those cookies you made yesterday. They all look delicious! YUM!
Be my guest... I can't stop eating them. After I get home from work today, I plan to put a lot of them in the freezer, hopefully that will keep me out of them for a while? :rolleyes1
I think that the last time I posted I asked if you remembered me because it had been so long. (I think you recognized my face but couldn't remember my name.)
I'm too far behind to ever get caught up so let me just say WOW to all of the sewing. I'll have to go back and at least skim through all of the photos. I still can't believe the hours your creations must take. It's enough to do the construction without applique, too.
Who are you??? And what are you doing posting in my PTR???? :surfweb:
Cheryl... How have you been? We've been missing you - it's just not the same with out you. How is Ginger???
All of the pictures of the goodies forced me to go grab a piece of fudge I brought home from Goofy's :) Everything looks yum yum yummy!!!
:worship: And V's Tink dress :worship:
Thanks, I will pass along everyone's kudos to her... she will be thrilled. :thumbsup2
I loved seeing your cakes! I used to decorate cakes too! The woman who took care of me when I was little taught me . . . I still LIKE to do it, but these two little boys of mine make it VERY difficult!!! I think the last one I did was for a friend's son's 2nd birthday - a Mickey Mouse smash cake :)
Awwww... I can see where those 2 little boys make things difficult - but they are sooo adorable! :lovestruc
We are back :sad2:. I did nothing but clean & bake...clean & bake today! Not fun! Well the eating part. Made sugar cookies, caramel layers, & gingerbread men.
I see you have been busy in the kitchen too!
Welcome home - I hope you had fun! :)
Yes, I was busy - thankfully it wasn't my kitchen. :rotfl2:
Wow Victoria did such a wonderful job!
How did she sew so straight?? I never do unless I go super slow!
Patience's stitching is perfect:lovestruc!
I am not really sure. Lately, I've been having her do some of the quilting on my bags - so she has lots of straight stitch practice under her belt - but other than that, I have no idea how she did it??? :lovestruc
I made dd a pair of PJ pants tonight. I messed them up...
They have mermaids swimming in one direction on one leg...and the other direction on the other one!
Ooops! Oh well at least they are only pj's!
Time for bed!
No one will notice, if they do - just tell them they are the ultimate PJ pants - you kept the wearer and the observer in mind, so they could both see the pattern right side up. :thumbsup2
No sewing for me today - must work and make the big bucks. :rotfl2: Not even sure what my hours are this week... :surfweb: I am hoping to get started on Alli's bag tomorrow, so I have it all assembled for when I get the front flap back from "the amazing Diser with an embroidery machine". :cloud9: Then, once it comes back, all I will have to do is applique the front of it and assemble the bag. :lovestruc
Cheryl so nice of you to pop in. Are they still filming at your house or are they finally done?
We miss you.
D~ I love all your creations. They are things near and dear to my heart--dolls and bags!
I used to decorate cakes before my hands gave out on me. I have even done 5 wedding cakes for different family members (including my daughter's.) That one was trying to say the least! She lives in Oakland so I brought all the ingredients with me on the plane--fortunately before limits on baggage! Her in-laws live in a castle (yes a real castle) in the Berkeley Hills. Fortunately, they have a chef's kitchen with several ovens so I could bake all 3 tiers at once. http://www.hewnandhammered.com/hewn_and_hammered/2010/10/hume-castle-in-.html#/ http://www.dupontcastle.com/castles/hume.htm
They were married in the courtyard in the center of the castle by the wrought iron canopied well. I also made her dress which had a chapel length train and all the decorations for the reception (which was held in the covered area around the courtyard. Even though her brother-in-law had been married the year before in a wedding costing about 10,000 times as much as hers (literally!) hers was beautiful.
All that to say that I wish I could still do that level of work in both sewing and cake decorating...but I'm leaving that in your capable hands!
I can tell you what Cheryl has been up to -- take a look at Barbara's auction and see the $100 bid Cheryl has going on on her creations.
And Cheryl, you at least need to post pics on the Disbout!!!!
That is an awesome house/castle!!! I can't even imagine.... Gorgeous - I would love to see some of the wedding pictures too.
Soooo... Some more trip ramblings... :lovestruc
I had a couple of down minutes yesterday, here and there at work... So, I began jotting down items for our packing list.
Each of us will have one backpack to carry-on and one bag (the girls will have their messenger bags).
In our backpacks, we will each of one change of clothes (shorts, tshirt, socks, undies, 1 pair of pajamas, swimsuit and a pair of shoes). In my backpack, I think I will also pack my park bag and all of it's "stuff" along with a power strip. Oh and our ziplocs with our toiletries.
In our messenger bags, we will have things to do on the plane... The Ipods, DSis, books, my trip journal, camera - things like that. I have a more thorough list, but it happens to be upstairs right now, and I don't feel like going to get it. :worship:
I know a lot of people have issues with their phones running out of charge at the end of the day... I think I have a solution for this - for us anyways. The girls and I all have the exact same phone... so we will charge them all during the night - and since I will use mine for the Lines app - I can just steal their batteries as needed through out the day. :rotfl2: I am sure they won't mind. :rolleyes1
I have already decided that we are checking 2 suitcases. I am just concerned that we will run out of space??? I might bring along my Vera Bradley weekender, or large duffel bag just in case???? I guess I will have to see what our suitcases look like after they are packed and see what kind of room we have left in them???
I was also planning on bringing some breakfast items.... The "Quaker Oatmeal to go" pastries are really good for this sort of situation - they aren't pop tarts - so they aren't dessert posing as breakfast. We took them on our last trip - and even though they aren't wonderful, they will (hopefully) tide us over until our first meal. :confused3 I was going to take all of them out of their boxes, and just sprinke the packages where ever they will fit in our bag. :confused3
I also really want to go through our ADRs and figure out how many extra meals we may need to do OOP.... :confused3
D~ <--- Who has been married to her wonderful husband for 14 years, today. :lovestruc
Happy Anniversary! I hope you are able to celebrate tonight!
Bringing along your VB weekender sounds like a good idea that way if you need extra packing space then you will have it and if you don't need it then you can put it in your suitcase!
Happy anniversary!
I will see if I can get my daughter to email me a couple of pics. Mine were lost in a flood, but I know she has lots. Now I just need to get her to send them! There is one of her on the iron stairs with the stone wall behind her that I love! Maybe she will send pictures of the bride's cake and groom's cake, too. I'll have to take what I can get!
Thanks everyone! :)
Well, I called Disney this morning and added our flight information to our reservations for ME... All they asked for is the Airline and flight #... Is that weird??? I thought they'd ask for our flight times, as well - especially for our return flight???
I've started assembling Allison's bag today... So far, so good. She happened to be with me the other day when I found the new fabric lining - so I hope she likes it. LOL I am doing a couple of humorous things to her bag - which I will probably think are totally funny and she probably won't. LOL Well, actually - maybe she will - since we have the same sense of humor. ;)
D~ <--- Back to work!!!
Happy Anniversary!!!
we got married in 1997 too! must of been a good year :goodvibes
good idea bringing an extra bag....you will have souvenirs to bring home!
ME only needs that info since they will know the arrival/departure times...ME will be scheduled to pick you up at least 3 hours before your departure time which gives you plenty of time!
Thanks everyone! :)
D they ask so they can pick up your check bags.
I can't wait to see your newest bag. I am trying to decide what I can work on while at work since I did what HAD to be done LOL
So, if ME picks you up 3 hours before your flight, and our flight leaves at 7:35... We can expect to be picked up from our hotel at approx 4:30pm? I was just surprised that Disney did NOT ask for my flight times, as well. I thought they needed more info than what they asked for?
And MARIANNE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I got your package today... put a smile on my face, for sure!!! I can't wait to show you all what she sent! Some of it was my request, but then she snuck in some goodies for D~ too...
D~
D~
When we went in April,2010 our flight was at 7:00am and we needed to be down there at 3:30am:scared1: DH said never again would we leave that early and the sad part we couldn't even use the RAC for our luggage :sad2:
yup that's right....you will get a notice from ME with your pick up time the day before....make sure you keep the return voucher you get in your ME book which should come in the mail about 3-4 weeks before your trip. no, they just need your flt # and day....what we do is pack up and bring our luggage down for check in, they will give you your boarding passes and put the luggage tags on....you are flying one of the airlines they do check in for aren't you....they will also hold any of your carryon in bell services...we then check out and head to the park or dtd....make sure you are back in plenty of time...you CAN NOT be late for your ME check in time! we usually plan at least 30 minutes early...get a snack don't want to leave any of those snack credits behind :rotfl: get your carryon, check in and get on the bus! easy peasy....get to MCO, go up to security so quick and easy!
what did you get? need to share with the class!
Who are you??? And what are you doing posting in my PTR???? :surfweb:
Whoops. I thought this was Andrea's PTR. My mistake. :guilty:
Cheryl... How have you been? We've been missing you - it's just not the same with out you. How is Ginger???
D~
I'm just sitting in a corner of the basement and pouting because I don't have any trips to WDW planned. I haven't seen Ginger since she went to get some head shots taken before my son's film shoot. Don't think it ended well.
Cheryl so nice of you to pop in. Are they still filming at your house or are they finally done?
We miss you.
Done. BUT. . . my car is still with my son in NYC. If it's no trouble, ask your husband to keep his eye out for a gold Honda CRV with a Navy sticker. If he sees it when he's working (I think you said he worked in some less than desirable neighborhoods) I'd appreciate it if he could ask for license and registration -- unless the driver looks like my son.
:drive:
HA HA HA your son might stick out in the neighborhood DH works in LOL:rotfl:
FIRST....HAPPY ANNIVERSARY a little late!!!
Second...GULP....:guilty::guilty::guilty::guilty:I was SO far behind...Lisa B told me of a gorgeous bag you made for Megan for their trip (I have bag envy, Lisa has my bag~it is actually what I saw first when I met her IRL, then realized it was her as I was staring at her bag saying to myself...SHE HAS MY BAG)!
So I went back pages and pages for an hour and saw BEAUTIFUL bags you have been designing, Andrea looking as if she had stepped off of a runway, Read Cheryl's DS was OUT of the Navy :woohoo:, got excited about your incredible plans and added days to your trip with fabulous savings and an American Girl collection that would make my Lisa drool (I had already seen Megan's beautiful stuff).
As always, your PTR made me smile and drool...of course, the candy treats were causing the biggest drool factor for me...I just had to let you kow I had been by and say hello...so hello...:wave2:
I think I would have to agree with your DH on this one too... Even though I am normally up almost that early - I am really not in a functioning mood. :rolleyes1
You guys are all still newlyweds...we got married in 1977....
LOL
Nini
Wow Nini... 34 years... Impressive! :lovestruc
Oh Lisa... Ok - I have a bunch more questions for you...
1. How does ME notify us the day before? Do they slip something under our door?
2. We are not flying on a participating airline... What happens then?
3. What happens if you are late for your ME check in time?
4. Where is the ME check in at POFQ?
5. So, a return voucher will come with all of our Micky Mail - which I need to keep around for our entire trip, and than not lose it?
:surfweb:
Oh no.... I am very concerned about Ginger. Have you even gone looking for her yet? :surfweb:
JUDY!!!!!!!!!!! I am so glad to see you here! I just posted in your TR this morning. (((HUGS)))
[Second...GULP.... I was SO far behind...Lisa B told me of a gorgeous bag you made for Megan for their trip (I have bag envy, Lisa has my bag~it is actually what I saw first when I met her IRL, then realized it was her as I was staring at her bag saying to myself...SHE HAS MY BAG)
Thank you so much for your kind compliments. :lovestruc LOL about Lisa having your bag... I would have walked really close to her, so it appeared that I was carrying the really fabulous bag. :rotfl2: Thank you so much for stopping by, I know you have a lot on your plate right now, and I've really been praying hard for you and your family. :hug: The Christmas card you sent was beautiful... It is going to go in my (now) very large stack of cards to someday get put up on my "memory board that has yet to be made". :rolleyes1
Well, I do have pictures to post today... Which I will do shortly. All this time I've been making Victoria's and Allison's bag, I've had to have a side project to work on, to make it look like I've been doing something else aaaaaallllllllll day. You all are going to laugh at this project, because I've been working on it for quite a few days, and in all honesty - I could whip it up in a few hours... So, I think it's kind of humorous that the girls think it's taken me this long to make it. :wizard: Tis the season to be sneaky. popcorn::
Today, I plan to finish up the portion of Allison's bag that I can finish. I did almost all of it yesterday. These messenger bags are really awesome to make, and I just love how "finished" they look when they are done - but there are A LOT of pattern pieces - which takes me hours to cut out. So, it's pretty labor intensive. I also plan on working on Allison's applique. I have it all drawn out, so I just need to cut out the pieces - so it's ready when the main flap returns home from the "really awesome Diser that's helping me out with this project". :banana: Once that returns, I will still have about a day's worth of work to complete on it.
Meanwhile, I plan on starting another "fake" project this afternoon. :rolleyes1
