~~~SEWING my way to POFQ ~ American Girl outfits & Custom Park Bags! ~~~
Here
I am not a huge planner. Well, I am - but not by the minute or anything. I like to go with the flow - for the most part. But I don't plan which rides to ride at which times. :lovestruc
D~
Hope you can get the VA issues worked out soon!
Happy your DH is feeling better....Megan started today too,dropped her off and guess who at the curb....her BFF from 5th grade! made her day soooo much better!
love all your photos, its so fun looking back at our babies isn't it!
Thanks for the info y'all. The last trip I took to Disney was with just me and my parents and I was 16. I really had a great time. But I'm super stoked to be taking my own family now. My hubby is NOT an early riser (or much of a Disney lover) so I talked my parents and uncle into coming too... So I told Brian if he gets up and we're not there I'm in a park somewhere. :)
I've heard not so good things about AK but I'm really excited about it.
:love: the photos. I love looking at pictures, even of other people.. hehe does that make me a weirdo?..lol I catch myself on friends of friend's facebook just looking away and have no idea exactly how I got there.
D,
We always use the dining plan. I don't see how we could ever do Disney without it! If you have any questions...I'll try to answer.
For us, the portions are so large, that we usually get two CS meals for the three of us (of course, DH gets his own meal!) We don't 'cheat' like that for TS meals, because we do a lot of buffets, but we can usually get at leat one more meal out of the plan....
Nini
Thanks for the info Nini. :) If I think of anything, I'll be sure to ask. :thumbsup2
Glad Megan's bff was there - how awesome is that?
I know - I miss my babies... Sometimes I am just way to nostalgic.
I do the same thing.
Good idea for your Dh - that's what I would have done for mine too. But why pay for them to go if they don't enjoy it? That's why I'm leaving mine home. :rotfl2:
Question: Does Disney take Paypal as a payment? LOL I'm dead serious... or do I need to transfer to my bank acct?
WE LOVE AK!! the shows are wonderful....Exp Everest is the best coaster IMHO at WDW, hope you enjoy it!
I don't think they take paypal....mine goes on my Marriott cc, then I earn the points for other trip hotel rooms....love when one vaca helps pay for another :thumbsup2
I think you have to transfer the $$$ to your bank account and then pay the bill. I doubt Disney would like paypal taking out all those fees. We also put big expenses like trips onto a credit card that we can get frequent flier miles or some kind of perk from using. Then we pay it off as soon as the bill arrives.
OK - so the next question is...
I signed on to Disney.com today, and tried to make a payment on my trip. It would let me make a payment of the full balance or $20. Nothing in between. Is this normal? I can't imagine paying it off in $20 incriments... :confused3
Almost done with outfit #49! Just need to put together the top and make the headband. :thumbsup2 Hopefully I will be able to get pictures up tonight. :lovestruc
You can't pay with PayPal BUT you can get a PayPal debit card for free through PayPal and then make your payments with that card... the money comes right out of your PayPal account! You can learn more about the card on the website
Welcome! I am so glad I have inspired your dd... Could she possibly inspire either of mine? :worship:
I would love to see what she has made so far. :) My youngest dd does a lot of AG sewing - and it's her favorite thing to do - that, and pin cushions. :thumbsup2
Not sure if what she is sewing yet has reached the level of "inspiring" (lol), and I have never before posted a picture on the Dis, but one of these days I will figure it out and post some of her sewing creations for you. I hope you'll put up pics of your daughter's AG sewing if she'll let you! I just realized we will be at POFQ at the same time. DD(10) and I will be there from Saturday March 10 to Tuesday March 13, then catching the Dream for our first Disney cruise. We were booked for ASMovies, but when free dining came out I switched to POFQ. So glad I did it quickly, because now my start date is no longer eligible in the offer. Oh, and we are also leaving our "military dad" at home this trip!!
I've been trying today to get some idea of park days and ADRs since our ADR date is Saturday. I was hoping that park hours for March would come out before we have to make our ADRs this weekend, but no luck so far. We did Cape May dinner for the first time during our June 2011 trip and LOVED IT! My daughter has requested to go back in March. Tusker House breakfast (still not sure if going to AK), Ohana dinner, and Cali Grill are 3 of our favorites and will probably round out the rest of the ADRs. I know we are only doing two park days using our leftover military tickets from June plus a waterpark day, but haven't made a final decision about what parks yet. Your plans look great!
Hi! :wave2:
Just wanted to let you know I'm subbing to your PTR!
Your outfits are amazing! I never would have believed that you haven't been sewing that long! You're such an inspiration! I have no idea how to sew, but it's something I'd like to learn but never thought I could! I'm pretty intimidated by sewing machines... but your PTR is starting to make me think that there's hope for me yet!
Your PTR also makes me nostalgic for the American Girl dolls I had as a child!
"Pretend you love each other girls" :lmao: That reminds me of DBF's sisters! Growing up they NEVER got along! But now that they're both in their 20's, they're actually very close! In fact, the younger sister just moved in with her older sister and her boyfriend. And she recently called her mom to tell her that it's weird when her older sister fights with her boyfriend because, "That's the way she used to yell at me, so it's weird hearing her yell like that at someone else!"
Anyway, I'm loving your PTR so far! I can't wait to read more! And I can't wait to see more outfits!
I'm not sure about Disney.com....I book ours through Dreams Unlimited and you have to make at least $100 pmts...it does seem strange...have you tried it again maybe it was having a little hick=up!
popcorn:: will check in later tonight to see if its posted!
Loved all your photos!
Great park plans but I don't think I could take a whole day off.:laughing: I think the incremental day is only about $8.
Can't wait to see the next outfit.
And, remember how I said, every picture of the girls together, is preceded with the phrase "pretend you love each other girls"...
Love seeing all the pictures of your past trips. I am a sucker for any Disney pictures:lmao:
:woohoo: I saw you posted that you sold your Splash Mtn dress and your Minnie dress is already sold too:yay:
Random, I know, but if you have time and feel like it, the Walmart (NOT the SUPER WALMART right off 93 - the regular Walmart that's actually IN town on Rt 3) in Laconia had a decent fabric section and over HALF of it was on CLEARANCE!!!! I happened to go in there looking for something else and swung on by the fabric section and lo and behold they had that sparkly pirate fabric I'd tried to find in RI and it was only $2.50 a yard! There was only 5 3/4 yds left on the bolt and I'd planned on getting 4 yds - the guy cutting wrote the tag for just over 4 yards and told me his eyes were "bad" :rolleyes1
Our vacation cabin is actually in Lovell,Maine (next town over from Fryeburg)so we never go past North Conway when we go up there.:lmao: We might go to Santa's Village though, depending how we feel:santa:
Do you go to the Fryeburg Fair?
I have been a few times but I really don't get the attraction:rolleyes1 But I think it had to do with all the hype when my mom first bought the house. Everyone kept talking about the "Fair" and how great it was I just think I was expecting more.:confused3 Have you been before?
princess: <------ my stylin' dunce hat
Ho boy am I far behind. I've actually been sewing -- imagine that -- and as you may recall there's quite a bit of travel time involved in my getting to your thread. :snail:
I :love: the fairy godmother outfit and all the photos of trips gone by. My Project Runway for Week 5 involved some vintage photos, but I scrapped the project when I realized I had been spending way too much time on it, and sewing one of the photos sideways was the final straw.
Anyways, I wanted to post outfit #50... Sleeping Beauty for Carol (Rubberduckyranch)... I was so excited when I got home a few minutes ago, and saw that V had finished the clip for me. :lovestruc
aIMG_1868.jpg
And just so everyone knows... I am never making this outfit again. :rolleyes1 It takes me 6 hours if I hand embroider it, and it takes me longer to applique. If you realllly ever want this outfit - you'll have to sweet talk me for a long time. :lovestruc
D~
Can't wait to see and read more.
I promise to go through all the posts in the morning and welcome everyone properly... Until then WELCOME!!!!
I just had to hop on here and post outfit #49... Jasmine.
The "thing" hanging out up in the neck area is actually a headband - in case you were wondering. :lovestruc
Starting outfit #48 tomorrow.
Updating my siggy and heading to bed. :lovestruc
Welcome! :thumbsup2 Thanks so much for this info. I thought that Paypal had a debit card, but I couldn't remember for sure. This helps me immensely! :lovestruc
I hope you figure out how to post pics - if you need help, just let me know, I'd be happy to give it a whirl. :wizard: The fact that your daughter wants to learn to sew and is sewing is inspiring as it is - trying is half the battle. :lovestruc
I hope you'll put up pics of your daughter's AG sewing if she'll let you!
I will put some of her sewing items up here... I will probably do it next week, when I work all week and won't have time to post my own outfits. :lovestruc
Please flag us down if you see us. :thumbsup2 I would love to do a Dis meet while we are there. :banana:
Awesome that the military dad is staying home - us girls need a trip of our own once in a while. I've always wanted to do a Disney cruise - but man, they are expensive... I would have to sew non-stop for a year just to pay for it. The girls really want to stay at the Poly for sure, and that's almost as expensive as a cruise... I sure hope they like POFQ - it will save me a lot of $$ if we can just keep staying there. LOL
Hi!
Just wanted to let you know I'm subbing to your PTR!
Your outfits are amazing! I never would have believed that you haven't been sewing that long! You're such an inspiration! I have no idea how to sew, but it's something I'd like to learn but never thought I could! I'm pretty intimidated by sewing machines... but your PTR is starting to make me think that there's hope for me yet!
Welcome! :hippie: And thank you - that is so nice of you to say. :lovestruc I was so intimidated by sewing machines, as well. I was so afraid of everything, but once I heaved that bugger out of the closet - I knew there was no turning back. Find yourself a used one, or even a cheap one from Walmart (which I would never recommend to anyone normally) - just to learn the basics. Then once you are confident, and know what you enjoy making - you can choose a machine that fits your needs better. You can always sell your first machine - you might not recoup all your costs, but you should get something. If you ever have any questions, I am happy to help... Otherwise the Disboutiquers are an awesome bunch of people and there always seems to be someone lurking over there that can help you out - they are located in the "Disney for Families" section. :lovestruc
Your PTR also makes me nostalgic for the American Girl dolls I had as a child!
I am a firm believer that going back to your childhood as an adult keeps you young (at heart). :lovestruc
"Pretend you love each other girls" That reminds me of DBF's sisters! Growing up they NEVER got along! But now that they're both in their 20's, they're actually very close! In fact, the younger sister just moved in with her older sister and her boyfriend. And she recently called her mom to tell her that it's weird when her older sister fights with her boyfriend because, "That's the way she used to yell at me, so it's weird hearing her yell like that at someone else!"
LOL... Everyone has been telling me for YEARS that, "next year" they should grow out of it... I wonder when "next year" will actually get here? Probably when they move out. popcorn::
Anyway, I'm loving your PTR so far! I can't wait to read more! And I can't wait to see more outfits!
:lovestruc
Loved all your photos!
Great park plans but I don't think I could take a whole day off.:laughing: I think the incremental day is only about $8.
Can't wait to see the next outfit.
Thank you... I know - I just hate to take a whole day off. But we never have, and we just come home exhausted. Besides, I'd really like to check out DTD - and the pools look like a lot of fun too. I'll probably get anxious and want to go into a park... we could always add another extra day to our passes and sneak into a park in the evening to take on the show or fireworks at one of the parks???
Love seeing all the pictures of your past trips. I am a sucker for any Disney pictures:lmao:
:woohoo: I saw you posted that you sold your Splash Mtn dress and your Minnie dress is already sold too:yay:
Thanks... I was planning on doing a post from our 2008 trip, as well.
Whoo-hoo, I am still so thrilled that my SM outfit went! :banana:
Hi Cheryl... so glad you came back... There's hope for my PTR if readers keep coming back. :worship:
I :love: the fairy godmother outfit and all the photos of trips gone by. My Project Runway for Week 5 involved some vintage photos, but I scrapped the project when I realized I had been spending way too much time on it, and sewing one of the photos sideways was the final straw.
Thank you. :) I find that if you sew with your head straight up (rather than sideways), you get a straighter line. Just sayin'. :rolleyes1
DH update: He did go back to work this morning. He said his back has loosened up (from the meds, I am sure) but he still has a lot of pain. I hope he takes it easy - like he said he would - and doesn't make the situation worse.
On to outfit #48 today, after I get the girls off to school.
Also, I woke up with an idea of what I want to make the girls and I for our trip. Of course, it will have to wait until I finish all these outfits, but my best ideas come to me when I am laying in bed trying to fall back to sleep... and if they are really good ideas - I can't fall back to sleep because I am so excited - which is why I am up much earlier than normal this morning. Hopefully, I can eek out enough time that I can get the girls' made in time for Christmas. :rolleyes1
I love jasmine :lovestruc How did you find such a perfect color fabric?!
I think you are selling outfits faster than you can make them. Maybe I need to start making AG clothes too!
Oh, and I LOVE all the photos you posted from your earlier family vacations! They are awesome!
