~~~SEWING my way to POFQ ~ American Girl outfits & Custom Park Bags! ~~~
I am replying on my phone...
Just wanted to tell Liddy that the girls and i are only able to upgrade handsets, we are still in our plan contract intil sept. So we ca't switch providers. That, n josh loves his ohone, not sure it will work with atnt?
Hey friend!
Not sure where you found your Donald case, but it's the same one I sent you a text pic of from WDW AND I've found that (at least around here and what I could find online) CHEAPER to buy it at WDW!!!! Which shocked me, because I'd assume that it'd be more expensive.
Okay - that said, the rumor going around that I've heard is that AT&T is working to BUY T-mobile . . . now, this was a while back and told to me by our account rep at AT&T (he comes out to the office, etc. instead of us going to the store, to help us with our account). . . :confused3
Finally - If you at all like the iphone 3GS, I know that $125 is a super price provided this guy is jailbreaking it FOR you and you don't have to pay an additional cost to have that done later. Before the iphone 4 came out and DH still worked at his old job, most of the younger guys that worked outside for him had iphones. We all were in two camps about jailbreaking vs not - but all the guys that HAD jailbroken phones were very happy and they (smart guys, really) were taking the $10 a month they'd BEEN paying for insurance on the phone through AT&T and were saving it instead - so that if anything happened to the phone, they at least had a small nest egg to help them buy a new one :thumbsup2
Okay - so enough about phones from me - Did you see that Keira and Cooper got their pirate outfits???? :cool1:
AND - I think I figured out shirts for the boys for Valentine's Day! A conversation heart that says Kiss Me for Finn and two hershey's kisses with 25¢ under it . . .now, to figure out if I can actually applique said items :confused3
But first we're off to Ikea with friends this afternoon . . .
I found it on Disney online... It's $31. :confused3 I would think - and I am not sure - it would be the same price online vs. the parks? :confused3
Gotta squash the rumor mill. :wizard: The plan for ATnT to buy Tmob fell through right after Christmas. So sad. I was hoping that once the buy out occured, I would finally be able to get the Iphone.
I am pretty sure he is planning to jailbreak it for me... My bff is meeting with him today to put her Tmob sim card into the phone to verify it works on Tmob's network...
Not sure how hard jailbreaking is, but I wasn't aware that the software to do it costs $$? I do know, that every time I have to update the OS, it will have to be jailbroken again. So, it is something that Josh or I will have to learn how to do.
Okay - so enough about phones from me - Did you see that Keira and Cooper got their pirate outfits???? :cool1:
I did not... Off to stalk! :)
The outfits sound adorable!
Have fun at Ikea! :)
OMG! You all are confusing me with all this phone talk. We just upgraded our phones to whatever Sprint would give us for free. I tried to talk dh into a text plan but he refused. I live in the 90's. Besides, I don't know how everyone can afford all these phones and plans -- my dh and I make a decent living but I'd really have to work more to justify affording such luxuries.
D~ I've heard the Kindle Fire is awesome!
Me <------ who needs to work on a BG (I think I can stay in my jammies to do that :) ) and who has to help my ds with his president's speech :eek:
Darn! That would have been awesome if they did :(
:-)
Thanks! - not too "girlie" right???
Let's hope Ikea goes well - 6 kids ages 7 and under . . .:scared1: yeah, we might be crazy! (oh yeah, and we're 99% sure only 3 of them are tall enough to go to the Smalland play area)
I know you're still locked in a contract. But the contract does end and then you can switch to a provider that offers up the iPhone. :thumbsup2
The Accounting major is jumping in! We had to do a Stocks project, and I originally picked AT&T because of their potential merger with T-Mobile (since if it went through, while it would have been risky, it could have potentially won the game for us). However, the further I dug, I discovered that the merger fell through. While I can't state it's fact, but from brokers I've spoken to, they have all stated the merger was a bust. :thumbsup2 I'd love to hear facts though. :yay:
P.S. Right now, my team is winning the Stocks project. :woohoo:
Yeah - the last time I spoke with our rep was around Christmas. :rolleyes: Darn those mergers!
But :woohoo: for being in the lead on the Stocks project!
Andrea - I forgot to grab your quote! The only way we can afford iphones is because we're on a business plan with my parents and my Dad's business. We both do work for my Dad when he needs us (I actually need to do some and have been putting it off :sad2: ) and our upgrades to new phones are almost always our Christmas presents. Being part of the business plan keeps our part of the bill down considerably.
If you're ever going to get to page 250 on Andrea's PTR you'll need to do more sewing and posting and less phone shopping.
I know, I shouldn't be shopping for a phone that I don't own yet... but it's in my cart and ready to ship the second I find out if this Iphone works for me. LOL
D~ <--- who really needs to get in her sewing room.
Ahhhhhh, how cute.
I've been following along on the whole phone stuff. My son's currently snowboarding in Oregon -- can't wait for him to get home so I can ask him what jailbreaking is.
I'm sure y'all can guess what kind of a whimpy phone I have. Yes, that's right I DO have a cell phone. :woohoo:
I've been half-heartedly looking at a book thingy. I have a hard time making decisions (and spending money) so it may be a while.
Really, you think she'd get her act together and sew something for her trip.
Are you talking to me???? I started reading Nini's ptr one day and was all teary eyed hearing the story of her ds and his tbi -- I knew he had one, I did not know the circumstances. And then I couldn't even comment b/c Dis decided not to let me load any more pages. It has been better lately so I should head over there. I can't even keep up with Lisa's and Marianne's trip reports either. I'm worthless. And I haven't sewn a thing today and have to wok on my ds's president speech. We got a 100% on the Civil War newspaper -- err, uh, I mean HE got 100%. I really wish he could do it all on his own -- he needs tons of prodding though. And I soon as I start working with him I know dd is going to bring me her script and want me to work on lines with her -- how dare I give ds attention and not dd.
I am hoping that the phone works out for you. My dad just got the new iphone and he loves it. He gave his old iphone to his girlfirend which made me a little sad. I really wanted it. Some day I will get an iphone, but until that day I will be happy with my wildfire.
I am know what you mean about the phones for the kids. I gave my 9 1/2 year old my old phone. It's also a presmart phone with a touch screen. He keeps wanting me to add things to it, but it's not for him to go on the internet or play games on. It's for phone calls and texts. I like for be to be able to contact him when I need to especially with his CF.
I also want to let you know what I just bought at the Goodwill store. A singer 401A sewing machine. It came with a table and a stool and guess what I I found in the stool . . . a button holler, a dozen bobbins, sewing excessories, and the original manual.:banana::banana::banana: I blame it all on you by the way. Now I just need to figure out how to take it apart to clean it.:thumbsup2
Um . . . you might want to run and hide NOW! D~ has been coveting a 401A for as long as I've known her . . . it's actually one of the initial reasons we've buddied up ... so just fair warning she might show up and try to steal your new machine away! :rotfl:
I have a 401A and I LOVE IT! :woohoo: Cannot say enough good things about it!!!! let me know if you have any questions and I'll try to help you out! Did it come with any of the embroidery cams? GREAT find!!!! I wanna see pictures!!!
Thanks Marianne, I will try to take some pictures later today.:thumbsup2 I have no clue to wear to even begin to fix it up (quite dirty) so if you can point me in the right direction it would be very helpfull.
I guess I lucked out with this machine. I kept going back to it but wasn't sure because it was $50 and I wasn't sure what they are worth. Finding the manual and other goodies in the stool is what won me over, not to mention the 5% off with the Club Goodwill card.
I DO NOT miss helping my sons with homework. :crazy2:
More phone talk but I love my phone I got at Walmart. It is the Tmobile plan which we have never had a problem with but it is the $30 plan with 100 minutes and unlimited Texting and 4g network.
Since I don't talk much on the phone I just love it for surfing and texting when I am out:goodvibes
And I thought I posted in here yesterday but don't see my quotes.
I love the Donald shorts :love:
My DD has a phone and she is great about only texting me or her dad. She has had it for over a year because I am not always able to get out and walk her into places when I have J and I am a nervous Nelly here in NY.
What a great find! I know on Nini's ptr D has all the links posted for cleaning up a machine -- it's fairly early in the ptr -- I would guess maybe pages 3,4 or 5?:confused3 Definitely before page 10.
I stop at two Goodwills at least once per week and have yet to see a machine. Well, they had a kids small sewing machine NIB at one, but I have two machines now so dd can claim one as her own if she ever really gets into sewing. I mainly go looking for AG doll things (which I don't find either -- other than books, but dd loves to read so I buy them). What's a GW club card?
Well, honestly, I can't afford to buy an unlocked Iphone from Apple... That is why I am looking into used. I guess, I could afford it, if I wanted to - but until I actually get to use one myself, I am not sure it is worth the investment. Also, I don't own an Ipod touch (the girls do) - and they are always using theirs. And with us leaving on our trip in a few weeks - I see having the smart phone as a necessity - considering I need something to run the Lines app and my resort now has Wi-fi. But, since we are leaving in a few weeks - I want to spend the least amount of $$ on it as possible.
If I purchase the Iphone used, like Marianne said, I can pull off the insurance plan on my phone (brilliant - I wouldn't have thought of that). So, that actually saves me $$ monthly. But I would have to add a 2gig data plan - which would make it a wash.
D~ I've heard the Kindle Fire is awesome!
I hear that a lot too. I am not sure it is something I would want to carry around the parks though, and it is more expensive than the Iphone I hope to get.
Me <------ who needs to work on a BG (I think I can stay in my jammies to do that ) and who has to help my ds with his president's speech
I hope you were able to get everything done yesterday! :lovestruc
I swear they were $19.99 or $24.99 at the parks . . . hmm . . . I wanna say that info is somewhere in my PTR because, if you'll remember, my Mickey shoes came from the Mickey version of this case . . .
They had Donald in the large Emporium shops on the left hand side of Main St. as you're heading to the Castle. . . they also had him in DTD and a few other places. . .
THanks for the tip! :thumbsup2 I just hope they have the 3G version still when we go.
I'm pretty sure you just get that online, however, those guys that worked for DH always said to make sure it was done "correctly" So I don't know
Well, I hope it's being done correctly. :confused3 I guess we'll find out.
Thanks! - not too "girlie" right???
Nope - absolutely AWESOME!!! And a totaly inspiration for one of my projects in progress... :lovestruc
I know you're still locked in a contract. But the contract does end and then you can switch to a provider that offers up the iPhone.
Yup - I do realize that. But first, I really want to have a smart phone for this trip - but I don't want to put a ton of $$ into it. :) And also, I really super duper like my carrier, and I really don't want to have to leave - but paying for an Iphone OOP would give me that option later. If we can get it to work.
I've been half-heartedly looking at a book thingy. I have a hard time making decisions (and spending money) so it may be a while.
There are lots of good ones out there. As Andrea said, I have heard great things about the Kindle Fire too.
Really, you think she'd get her act together and sew something for her trip.
I know, I am a total slacker. :surfweb:
Are you talking to me???? I started reading Nini's ptr one day and was all teary eyed hearing the story of her ds and his tbi -- I knew he had one, I did not know the circumstances. I know, it's so hard keeping up on everything. That is awesome that DS got 100% on his Civil War paper! Congrats to him (and you)!
I am hoping that the phone works out for you. My dad just got the new iphone and he loves it. He gave his old iphone to his girlfirend which made me a little sad. I really wanted it. Some day I will get an iphone, but until that day I will be happy with my wildfire.
Yup... That's why we don't pay for the girls to have data on their phones, and I have it shut off in Family Allowances - so they can't accidentally hit the button and have extra charges.
[I also want to let you know what I just bought at the Goodwill store. A singer 401A sewing machine. First of all - as you've heard from everyone else... You've found my dream machine! You are such a lucky duck! And I am jealous beyond belief! And for $50 - with everything you got - that's a steal! I paid $65 for Patience, and she came with her original table (no stool), all of her original feet, the button holer, but no original manual. I paid $10 for Mr. Rocket - he came with his original table, all of his original cams and feet in their original box, with his original manual... but I spent several full days restoring him and getting him to work properly - and as we all know - he is still quite tempermental and a general PITA. :rolleyes1 I have more info for you - but I am going to start a whole new post. :thumbsup2 Let me know if you need cams for your new machine... I have extras - and I'd be willing to trade them for some orange dot fabric. :)
I do want to give an update on the Iphone... My bff was able to put her sim card into the phone yesterday, and it did not work - so her x-bf is trying to jailbreak/unlock it. I may or may not know anything today. I am still keeping my fingers crossed though.
I did spend the day in my sewing room yesterday. :lovestruc I am working on a fun little project. It's actually a bag, a smaller version of the UPB - and it's super cool. I might have to add it to my available bag line up, and depending on the finished size - I might make one for myself as one of my intended bags for this trip (probably the Toy Story one). I can't tell you any more about the bag I am working on, but I plan to spend a good chunk of time today in my sewing room too... Unless I get the call to go get an Iphone - then I will have to take a break to go get it.
D~
OK, so before I post all my links... I wanted to answer all these posts.
Um . . . you might want to run and hide NOW! D~ has been coveting a 401A for as long as I've known her . . . it's actually one of the initial reasons we've buddied up ... so just fair warning she might show up and try to steal your new machine away! :rotfl:
Marianne, you are so right... It was so nice of you to warn Corri - poor girl probably had no clue how badly I've been wanting a 401a. Although, you really do have to admit - I have simmered down a bit since I've had Mr. Rocket... And I really haven't been out there looking for a 401a, because I really like the look of Mr. Rocket - what can I say??? Sometimes it is all about the looks and has nothing to do with personality. :eek:
Thanks Marianne, I will try to take some pictures later today. I have no clue to wear to even begin to fix it up (quite dirty) so if you can point me in the right direction it would be very helpfull.
I will be posting a bunch of links for everyone shortly - then I will link to them in my ToC - so you all can find them again... That will save the trouble of having to go hunt them down in everyone's PTRs.
Since I don't talk much on the phone I just love it for surfing and texting when I am out
I know, I have the same problem - I love Tmobile and I really don't want to switch. Honestly - I am a girl who HATES change, and just the thought of changing providers makes me incredibly nervous. I am really hoping we can get this Iphone to work, that would truly make me a happy girl.
And I thought I posted in here yesterday but don't see my quotes.
I love the Donald shorts
Thanks Michelle!
Here are the pictures I promised.
OK... So yes, the machine is dirty - but I have seen worse. Does everything move freely? How does the wiring look? If it's cracked or dry anywhere, it will need to be replaced before you even plug it in.
This machine must always have a cam in it when you run it!!!! Very important!!! It should tell you that in the manual. The "0" cam is your basic zig zag cam - so make sure you have that one, it's the most used and most important. They are all numbered, and they have a design on them to tell you what stitch they do. Did it only come with the 4 cams shown, or did it come with more you didn't photograph?
Just from the photos... I can tell you are going to need to order a new slide plate (I have a website for that), also, it came with bobbins... awesome!
It looks like it came with some awesome feet too... Just from memory... I see a button foot, and bias trim foot (which I haven't been able to figure out yet), zipper foot, applique foot and ruffler... Just the ruffler foot on a new machine costs upwards of $50... You got a great deal. :lovestruc
I will also put up a list of cleaning supplies... Most of which are avalable at Wal-mart or an auto parts store... It's kind of expensive to get all the cleaning supplies - but once you have them - you'll have enough to restore machines for the rest of you life. LOL
Stay tuned for your "grocery list" and links page.
My DD has a phone and she is great about only texting me or her dad. She has had it for over a year because I am not always able to get out and walk her into places when I have J and I am a nervous Nelly here in NY.
the machine looks fabulous and I think you got an amazing deal. Here is a blog that D had pointed me too and I am sure she will chime in too.
I don't blame you for being a nervous nellie in NY... I would be the same way.
Thanks for posting the link - that is the main one.
What a great find! I know on Nini's ptr D has all the links posted for cleaning up a machine -- it's fairly early in the ptr -- I would guess maybe pages 3,4 or 5?:confused3 Definitely before page 10.
I stop at two Goodwills at least once per week and have yet to see a machine. Well, they had a kids small sewing machine NIB at one, but I have two machines now so dd can claim one as her own if she ever really gets into sewing. I mainly go looking for AG doll things (which I don't find either -- other than books, but dd loves to read so I buy them). What's a GW club card?
I hope you find something wonderful soon Andrea... :lovestruc
FYI ... 2 GB of data is nothing. :guilty: My DH, who claims he never uses his phone, goes through about ... well, lemme look.
He used 5GB last month. We have WiFi at home. (We're also grandfathered in on a true unlimited plan.) So consider how much data you'll use at WDW running lines, if you use your phone a lot at work or out and about, etc. I used about 1GB last month, but I primarily use my phone at home and school right now (which both have WiFi). I just don't want you to end up with a massive bill and be shocked ... so reminding you about data usage at WDW. ;)
If you don't use it much outside of WDW, and play with it on WiFi, you can get by with 2GB pretty easily. I'm just worried you'll go well over at WDW. I know I will with checking email, FB, Lines, and doing a live report. So keep that in mind. :thumbsup2
