~~~SEWING my way to POFQ ~ American Girl outfits & Custom Park Bags! ~~~
It might give her the idea of what she'll look like in her shorts. Oh wait, Donald isn't wearing shorts....that could be a problem. I hope D's PTR doesn't get censored!
:scared1: he doesn't :confused3:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:
:eek: :eek: OMG!!! ANDREA!!!!!!!!!!!!! :rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2: I was LOLing at work, but I couldn't comment!
D~ <--- If only I looked that good in my Donald shorts...
Since you are busy working today and have a sick dh to take care of at home I thought I'd help you out:
D.jpg
Let me know if there's anything I can help you with :)
You are a true blue friend!
Thought I replied about your Donald shorts but anyway I love them. Josh sounds just like my husband, he can't sit still and mixing concrete in the sick.
OMG Josh sounds just like my G. He would do something like that. He hates not being busy.
Good luck with the Cell Phone quest.
Oh yes, Josh is driving me officially crazy... Just wait until you hear what he did yesterday... :eek:
Um - what on earth are you working on that has you :rotfl: ??? Hmm?
Ummm... Yah.... I haven't touched it since that night, because I am just not sure if I want edit what I've done, or if I want to keep going and try to fix it on my way???? I've been trying to brainstorm it, and I just can't see to come up with anything.
Glad to hear Josh is starting to feel better - right? If he's making concrete volcanoes, etc. Ooooh! I know! You can give him sewing projects to work on for you while he's home! : what? not a good idea?
I am not so sure that this is the best idea... :confused3
Hope work is okay today . . . I have to clean up the dining room table so I can cut and sew a little later (hopefully the boys will cooperate). I still need to figure out what I'm doing for Valentine's shirts for the boys and I have YET to make them their Star Wars outfits from that fabric I bought at Jo-Ann's . . .
Work was fine... it went really fast. Some (totally wonderful) person dropped off 12 rolls of film for me to process and one of them was APS... it was fantastic and kept me busy all day. :lovestruc
Oh! Which cell provider do you currently have?
I have Tmobile - the only major cell provider in this world that doesn't support the Iphone... because I really want an Iphone....
Happy to hear Josh slept better :goodvibes
oh my, concrete in the kitchen sink....that could of gone SO wrong
Tell me about it... Just wait until you hear what he did yesterday...
ok, so what are you creating now?...you could never make anything hideous!!
Well, it's something for me to wear in Disney... I'll tell you that much, but I am just not sure what to do with it, because in my head, it looked SUPER AWESOME... IRL, it's quite obnoxious... :rolleyes1
good luck with the cell phone issue....that seems like a good deal! do you have Best Buy close by? they carry all the different phones and plans
Thanks for the Best Buy idea - I didn't even think to look there. I'll tell the story below - but I think you might have saved my phone dillema. :hug:
Cute! I have always done mine with frayed edges but I may have to try a pair like you did. And I really like that pocket!
The more I look at them, the more I like them - they really have a fun and peppy flair to them... I would be tempted to make another pair - but I am out of jeans to chop off. :rotfl2:
I'm getting the idea that you like Donald Duck.
I am not sure where you got that idea from??? :confused3
Hope Josh is doing OK today. Hey, I have an idea!!!! You work at Target. Target sells thermometers. You are at work. You get an employee discount BUY A THERMOMETER
You are soooo smart.... But I have a problem buying more of what we already have (because we have 2) that are lost in this house somewhere. :confused3 I'll do a Josh update below anyways.
Since you are busy working today and have a sick dh to take care of at home I thought I'd help you out:
Let me know if there's anything I can help you with :)
You know Andrea... It's not all that often that I am speechless... :eek:
:rotfl: You guys kill me sometimes!
D~
Can't remember if I commented on your capris and shorts yet, but they are both really cute!
And you can add me to the short brigade. I'm 5' 2.5". The last time we measured him, my DS was about 1/2" shorter than I am. He is definitely gonna pass me this year. Sigh.
Thanks! :) Isn't is horrible when they pass you up??? My oldest dd likes to say "Hellloooooo dooooowwwwn theeeeerrrreeee" in her best echoey voice... It's so hard to shake your finger at them, when you are looking up to them, and then they do something crazy to make you laugh... :rolleyes1
Looks like a great trip planned. I'm also doing a solo trip with my daughter the same week. Hope we have good weather!!
AWESOME!!! Where are you staying?? I am hoping for good weather too... I really hope it's a bit crisp in the mornings so I have an opportunity to wear my Donald sweatshirt. :thumbsup2
Do you know which parks you are doing on which days? If you happen to see me anywhere, please say hello - I'd love to meet a bunch of Disers this trip. :lovestruc
thanks for the laugh Andrea ....not sure if that's what D~ was thinking of
You are right Lisa... I was thinking more like a super model body - that would have been nice...
Oh crap, I misread and thought you said Minnie The kids are home from school right now and I work tomorrow, but hopefully I can get it done over the weekend. Hopefully this will hold you over for a bit (and I don't have photoshop so these are not done well):
th_dam.jpg
I like how the name of this photo is "dam"... :rotfl2: I think you should take the time to do it over today, since I know you have oodles of time.
It might give her the idea of what she'll look like in her shorts. Oh wait, Donald isn't wearing shorts....that could be a problem. I hope D's PTR doesn't get censored!
I am surprised it hasn't been censored yet... And yes, I agree with you - it is my PTR afterall??? :worship:
Thought I replied about your Donald shorts but anyway I love them. Josh sounds just like my husband, he can't sit still and mixing concrete in the sick.
Thanks! LOL Sounds like I am not alone with the antics of my DH... Just wait until you hear what he did yesterday...
Josh update: So, as most of you know, I worked all day yesterday. When I left for work, he still wasn't up. I've been trying to let him catch up on his sleep (since he's sleeping through the night now). Well, I texted him on my first break, and I never heard back... So, I texted him again and threatened to have someone come check on him (because, on a normal day, he never answers my texts either - so this is nothing new). Finally, he answered and said he was fine. FF to, I get home from work... He asks me where V is, because she isn't at home - and never came home from school (her school things weren't here)... So, of course - I had a major panic attack... Freaking out... About to call the authorities... Allison - the voice of reason (sometimes) offers to go check the neighbor's... Finally found her. Get this, she was at the neighbor's house, cleaning their basement, to earn $$ for Disney. :thumbsup2 LOL... I told her next time, to leave a note or something, because she scared the cr@p out of her momma. Yes, this story does relate to Josh... So, V comes home from the neighbors and I asked her why she didn't come home... she said, "Dad's truck was gone - there wasn't anyone at home"... WHAT!!!!! :eek: Josh was soooo busted... The turkey DROVE TO TOWN yesterday - he isn't supposed to drive for, at least, another week. He was bored and wanted to get some groceries for dinner - and I will admit, he did make a nice dinner... but he is still soooo naughty!!!
Cell phone saga: So, thanks to Lisa, I checked out Best Buy.com yesterday... If I upgrade at BB, all the phones we want are free + each of us gets a $50 BB GC (wonder if they sell Disney GCs there???). So, I'd walk out with $150 in GCs. :) If they don't sell Disney GCs there, I think I might try to see if I can get an extra battery for my phone, since the only consistantly bad review on this phone, is that battery life is poor.
My bff happens to be off of work today - so we are spending the day shopping... I was going to take Josh with me, but he has no desire to go phone shopping with me... :confused3 So, maybe bff and I will go out for lunch somewhere or something????
So, if I get into my sewing room at all today - it won't be until later this afternoon.
D~
Andrea this is so funny!
D~ it sounds like Josh is feeling better. I guess he doesn't understand the concept of "take it easy". Marianne's idea of putting him to work for you might not be such a bad idea. Maybe he can do some hand sewing on the new couch.
:eek: I'd take Josh's car keys away from him....saying it again "MEN" :confused3
wow I bet you were freaked out about V....nice she's doing something to earn more $$
yay, I helped D~ :banana::banana: I don't even remember seeing Disney GC there, but you never know....you could save them for xmas and buy CD's and DVD's
have fun shopping today!
So. . . are you getting an iphone? and which carrier do you think you'll go with?
I know everyone can always share a "Well, I had cr@ppy service with ____, but I LOVE ____" but - switching from Verizon to AT&T (we made the switch in the fall of 2009 before Verizon had the iphone) has been the best thing going for us as far as customer service. We haven't had any issues with reception either (no more so than we did with Verizon) - AND, since I know you'd want to know this, remember, I even had good enough reception in Missoula last summer to surf and post on the DIS from my phone!!! So reception in Montana is a-ok!
(MIL likes to tell me that ONLY Verizon gets reception there :rolleyes1 )
AND - if you have an iphone then we can text FOR FREE!!!!! :woohoo: I love iMessage :lovestruc
So, good luck with the phone search today! I wish I could go shopping with a friend and have lunch! That sounds like so much fun right now!
I have until 1pm to decide if I'm going to make anything for the boys to wear for Valentine's Day (and the Valentine's Party we have to go to tonight) and make it . . . I have ZERO ideas :sad2:
:eek: I'd take Josh's car keys away from him....saying it again "MEN" :confused3
Maybe you could buy an itunes card or two with one of the BB gc's? I know they sell some other giftcards at Best Buy . . . but I can't remember which ones.
LMAO sorry I am so laughing because I swear Josh could be related to my DH.
LOL :lovestruc And how can you be mad at them??? It's almost impossible.
Andrea this is so funny!
D~ it sounds like Josh is feeling better. I guess he doesn't understand the concept of "take it easy". Marianne's idea of putting him to work for you might not be such a bad idea. Maybe he can do some hand sewing on the new couch.
Well, he is being a good boy, for now, laying in his recliner and watching TV - I am sure that once I leave to go shopping - he'll do something he's not suppoed to...popcorn::
:eek: I'd take Josh's car keys away from him....saying it again "MEN" :confused3
I would, but then that will make him crabby... I don't want a crabby DH - if he goes out driving and gets in an accident - I will hold it over his head foever. :rolleyes1
:wow I bet you were freaked out about V....nice she's doing something to earn more $$
I was, and she was super ornery yesterday morning... We are still on her really hard about her grades - and she doesn't like it one bit... She has an "I don't care - what are you going to do about it" attitude - so we get into fights about it all the time. It wouldn't have surprised me if she had run away yesterday... :sad2: She doesn't realize (at all) that we wouldn't be on her about it if we didn't care, and truly care about her future... :sick:
:yay, I helped D~ I don't even remember seeing Disney GC there, but you never know....you could save them for xmas and buy CD's and DVD's
Lots of stores have the kiosks now with GC from other places... So, I am definately going to look. I could also use a new ear bud, because mine was dropped in a glass of kool-aide last summer, and it survived, but it only holds a charge for about 2 hours... :headache: And no, I didn't drop it in the kool-aide, and this was a super rare occasion that we even have kool-aide in the house... Figures. Dropping it in kool-aide was better than the phone I dropped in the toilet (clean)... after I dried it out and disinfected it a gagillion times - I continued to use it for another year. :wizard:
:have fun shopping today!
Thanks... I think I will... As long as I can get all the phones for free. LOL
So. . . are you getting an iphone? and which carrier do you think you'll go with?
I don't think so - I really want one, but we can't switch carriers right now. :headache: See... The girls and I are all due for a handset upgrade, but Josh got an upgrade about 6 months after we did (grrr... I wasn't happy about this) and upgraded our plan... So even though our handsets can be upgraded - we are still locked into our 2 year contract for another 6 months... Since T-mob doesn't support an Iphone (stupid) - I don't think I'll be getting one. I could just buy a phone OOP so I don't mess with our contract, but they are rediculously expensive, and I hate to pay that much $$ now to have it be worthless in 6 months if we switch carriers. Make sense?
As far as service goes, we have been very happy with Tmob... Rarely have any problems. The only issue I have with them, is their phone selection - they really need to get with the times and offer the Iphone - it's a huge mark against them that they don't, and I am really surprised it does't affect them that much.
The only other issue I've ever had, is when I tried to upgrade last week, and they were not accomodating at all - even though I have been with them for 7 years and never ever paid a bill late - I think that should be worth more than how I was treated, and I am still a bit miffed about it.
It would be nice if one of the other carriers would offer a "switch now, and we'll pay all your cancellation fees" deal... It would be huge for them and they would get a ton of people on to their plans. :confused3
I know everyone can always share a "Well, I had cr@ppy service with ____, but I LOVE ____" but - switching from Verizon to AT&T (we made the switch in the fall of 2009 before Verizon had the iphone) has been the best thing going for us as far as customer service. Are you telling me that you are paying for all those messages I send you???? Why didn't you tell me... I have free texting, so I don't pay for any of them.
So, good luck with the phone search today! I wish I could go shopping with a friend and have lunch! That sounds like so much fun right now!
I wish you could come too - it would be so much fun! :lovestruc
I have until 1pm to decide if I'm going to make anything for the boys to wear for Valentine's Day (and the Valentine's Party we have to go to tonight) and make it . . . I have ZERO ideas
I wish I had some ideas for you... Google valentines shirts and see what you come up with???
I agree about the iPhones and AT&T. I love, love, love mine! And while I have a text package, I can text other iPhone users without it using my messages. :love: And DH doesn't have a text package, so I can text him all day long and not let him do his job. :lmao: Which iPhone do you have? I'm hoping to upgrade to 4S this weekend. :goodvibes (I currently rock the 3GS)
I love my iPhone 4s I was so happy when Verizon finally offer it.
I am trying to talk dh into one next month but he wants the new Razor
oops! didn't grab quotes! Oh well :)
So - D~ no worries! I have unlimited texting, so no, I don't pay for any of those text messages we fire back and forth :)
I still don't have any ideas for the boys, but they decided they'd rather go see Star Wars Episode 1 in 3D with Daddy than us all go to the MOMS Club Valentine's Party - so I've got a couple more days now.
Would have LOVED to have gone shopping with you today :)
Liddy - I have the iphone 4Gs - 32GB in Black. LOVE it! I have previously had the iphone 4G - 32 GB in White and before that the iphone 3Gs - 16GB in white.
If you do upgrade and are looking for a great case, I highly recommend buying the NEWEST otterbox iphone 4Gs case from Amazon. LOVE mine :) Be sure to buy from Amazon though, they're SO expensive at the AT&T store or Target or Walmart. . . mine was only $30 on Amazon :)
I'll be getting a Disney-inspired case. :rolleyes1 Preferably the same one I have, but for the 4S. :thumbsup2 DH did the otterbox case when we first got the 3GS and loved it. But since he moved to the office, he hasn't used a case at all. :confused3 (And yes, they are expensive! We bought his at the AT&T store.)
OK - I am so sure you are all sick of my phone ramblings... I do apologize - honest.
I did go out yesterday, and I intended to come home with a new phone for each of us (except DH)... But that didn't happen... Read on...
Girls' phone saga:
There were a few major (to me) sticking points on the girls' phones. Currently, all 3 of us have Nokia Neurons:
99498-nokia_5230_nuron_03_lowres-300x288.jpg
Although, they are not smart phones - they are the precursor to smart phones - so they have decent web access and a touch screen. The web access is optional and we have had the girls' shut off (through family allowances) since they got them. No biggie.
So, while shopping for the girls' phones yesterday, I've decovered that technology has advanced considerably since the last time we purchased phones, and what we want for them just doesn't exist anymore.
I believe that the girls should have phones, and for the most part, they should be used for emergency situations - and not so much for social interaction. We've been down that road, and recently discovered that so much social interaction is really not what we want for our girls or our family. It's just too distracting for them and us - not to mention that it escilates peer pressure 10 fold. So, through family allowances, the girls are allowed 10 phone #s that they can communicate with (4 of which are us). So, basically they choose 6 of their best friends, and I enter their #s in online and they are "allowed" to communicate with them.
I am so sorry this is getting long... we haven't even gotten to my phone saga... :eek:
Since the girls currently have touch screen phones, we really wanted them to have touch screens again - not that it's a necessity - but the screens are bigger and they are easier to read. The non-touch screens are quite small and very hard to read the words... Besides, once you've had a touch screen - it is SUPER HARD to go back to a regular screen.
The ONLY touch screens available currently are smart phones... We don't want the girls to have smart phones. They have Ipod Touches, and that is good enough. We do not want them to have internet access on their phone, there is no reason for it - and it's almost impossible to monitor. But, TMobile requires you to have at least a $10 data plan on all smart phones. Period. Which is not OK with me - sure, I can shut off all the data through Family Allowances, but why in the world should we be required to have a data plan that we have to pay for, but we are going to shut off. :sick: I can't wrap my mind around that.
As of now, their Neurons are the perfect phones for them - and they will be keeping them.
I believe there would be a huge market out there for a basic phone, that's not a smart phone, but is a touch screen.
D~'s phone saga:
Well, I didn't come home with a phone either. :confused3 Read on if you aren't bored to death already... :rolleyes1
I learned many things yesterday.
First of all... I really want an Iphone in the worst way. It seems that everyone that has them loves them, and would never get another phone again - unless it's an upgraded Iphone.
Tmob doesn't have an Iphone... but while we were at the Tmob store, I found out that about 10% of people on Tmob DO have an Iphone. This was told to me directly by the store mgr. Hmmm.... :idea: He told me what I'd have to do... basically an unlocked Iphone from the Apple store or a Jailbroken one from AT&T.
So, my bff called her x-bf, who happens to be quite knowledgeable about Iphones. He started doing some research for me... It's a bit complicated, but it can be done, he is also willing to jailbreak it for me and get it set up. It also happens that he has an Iphone 3 that he is looking to get rid of - he is willing to loan it to me for the trip - with the option to buy it if I like it. I will know more about this sometime this afternoon. To be honest - if they can get it to work (I am sure they can), I don't think I will be loaning the Iphone 3 (It's a 16 gig, btw), I think I will just buy it from him. The price he offered is more than fair - it's actually a spectacular deal ($125) - and I am sure I'll be hooked.
There are a few benefits to doing it this way... First of all, if I buy the Iphone outright, we will not have to enter into another 2 year contract with Tmobile. This relieves me.
Secondly, I would have the best of both worlds, I would get to stay with the provider I like, and use the phone I want to use.
Thirdly, there are some pretty heavy rumors that Tmobile will be getting the Iphone "soon" - when that day comes, I will be free to upgrade to the version that they offer, because I won't be tied into a contract from a handset upgrade.
If this doesn't work out, I will just go into tmob and upgrade to the original phone I was going to get in the first place. :sick: But I have faith that it will work out, because so many people are already doing it.
I'll bet you never put so much thought into a new phone in your lives? LOL Sorry about the huge ramble.
Back into my sewing room today...
D~
Sounds like your phone shopping was productive but not in the way you expected. I have an iphone 4 and I love it. I waited until it came out at Verizon and then pre-ordered it. I could never go back to another phone. I definitely understand about phones for your girls. My younger daughter has the touch screen phone because she got her phone after my older daughter. Older daughter's phone us MUCH less nice but we're not about to replace it. It would be great if the jailbroken phone works out for you. I hope it does!
Sounds like your hubby is doing a lot more than he is supposed to at this point. My hubby is the exact opposite. He'd still be sitting in bed and expecting me to wait on him hand and foot. Bring me this, make me that, fluff up the pillows, etc. At least you don't have to deal with that.
It is interesting that they used the plastic skin to close Josh's surgical wound. I had that used in two minor surgeries. I don't really care for it because it leaves a bigger scar and on me it was somewhere that shows in a bathing suit. However, it does work quite well and I would be satisfied with it if it hadn't been somewhere prominent.
I know, I shouldn't be shopping for a phone that I don't own yet... but it's in my cart and ready to ship the second I find out if this Iphone works for me. LOL
D~ <--- who really needs to get in her sewing room.
OR....
You can switch to a carrier that has the iPhone and pay $100 for the 4 (or $200 for the 4S -- which has Siri, which I'm excited for). :thumbsup2
The biggest thing about having a jailbroken phone is it's not under warranty and if it breaks, you're SoL. I've never jailbroken my iPod or iPhone. I'm scared to! But I know lots of people do it every day. Murphy hates me, so I try to stay away from things that would make him pounce on me. :lmao:
My mom is kind in the same shoes your girls are ... only without the touch screen. I originally bought her a touch screen phone (it was free -- oh, she's on my plan, which is why I'm buying phones for her lol). She asked after a couple of days if it can be taken back. So I took her to the store and asked the clerk what can be done. Mom hated her phone. (He was so great, he didn't charge me any fees -- but I was willing to pay whatever to get her something she could use.) She finally found something she could tolerate. It wasn't free, but I paid the difference (and the clerk even gave me a huge discount on the asking price because mom was so unhappy with everything and was "settling"). She's repeatedly asked if she can get her numbered transferred to her old phone (it's from another provider, the answer was no). She only uses her current phone for calls. She still uses the features on her old phone (alarm clock and such). When I told her we were probably upgrading this weekend, she got upset. It's so hard to find a basic phone. She doesn't have internet, but sometimes uses a text message here and there. So we understand how hard it is to find a phone WITHOUT bells and whistles. And of course, any smart phone requries a data package. Lame. I think you should have the option to NOT take the data package, if you aren't going to use data.
Oh ... Oopsi must have left this dadgum soap box laying around. But I feel ya D. Lame. :rolleyes:
Totally love the iPhone case!
hope the new/old phone works out for you!
I agree that the kids don't need all that access on their phones! I got megan a basic pay as you go just recently...she can only call me, grandma and her aunt....told her we will revisit the phone issue when she turns 13! so still have a year to go! Verizon called me yesterday saying I was eligable for an upgrade, but decided to hold off for now.....thinking about getting a Kindle Fire first for when we travel....don't have a smart phone, but it does what I want!
love the Donald phone cover!
