~ Sew Sweet 16 ~I’m packing your angry eyes just in case~Aug 2014~ BFF' bag 8/20!!!!

Yah - even though we have a lot of rooms in our house... Hiding things is never easy. Maybe Alli and I can start some wrapping today - eventhough we still don't have a tree, I need to get started on it.

I love that Josh surprises me - he has done some pretty surprising gifts over the years - and he goes out of his way to disguise my gifts as much as possible.

Thank you... It's never easy having them away from us - no matter how little (or big) they are.

I did - thanks! We don't do stocking stuffers for anyone but us... And I went through my entire stash yesterday - I am pretty sure I am good there. Josh may have a few things to add. I just a few small gifts to buy for - then I am done.

I planned on starting to wrap today but was just exhausted so DH let me sleep in instead. I guess tomorrow while the kids are in school I'll put a movie on for James and start wrapping things that he can see. I also now have to wrap my niece and nephew's presents since I'll be babysitting them tomorrow after Jeremy gets out of school and their gifts are just sitting in bags under the tree.

That is great that Josh surprises you. I give DH ideas all the time (even take pictures and send them to him) and he still seems to forget.

I hope V had a great weekend and makes it home safe. I read that she's still not home but hopefully she is by now.

The only one's I have to get stocking stuffers for is the 5 of us. But have to find a day I can go shopping without James. Maybe I'll go one day after DH get's home from work and he can stay home with the kids.

Great savings at Target!! Glad you were able to get some things for your trip already at such a great price!

Love the announcement!!! Can't wait to see the theme!! May have to splurge for Christmas for me.

Hi Dorine and Alison and big V

Yes Disney is fun. It would be fun seeing you again.

I saw Frozen today. I liked it.

I lost a tooth. MIts number 4. All I want for Christmas is my two front teeth. GOT $10 from the tooth fairy.

Maybe you can come visit me. But you need a coat it is cold. It even snowed today.

Luv v

D - This is the first time I have had a chance to catch up and saw your posts about V's trip - sent a prayer out that she gets home safe and sound; I know the worry of us Mom's!!!! We just have to pray over them each day and pray specifically for their needs; I know the power of prayer, it has worked in many ways in my life through some very challenging situations; let us know when she gets home please!!

I love, love, love your Castle bag. You hit it out of the park again! Maybe one of these day I can have a D original:)

There are some beautiful people here following you D - we enjoy your company!

Have a wonderful week! Stay safe.

Thanks for the prayers everyone, alli and I are sitting in the school parking lot waiting on V... She is still just under an hour away from home. :( I am very upset about this, by the time.she gets home, she will have been on the bus for 11 hours! Annnnd it's nearly 9pm here now and she hasn't had dinner yet!

IN realize that things happen that can't be helped, but for the poor driver to not have his calls answered by the bus company and leave those kids sitting on the side of the road for almost 4 hours is absolutely ridiculous!

Sorry to vent, but I am so upset for her... She's cold and hungry and tired. Sigh.

D~

But I should be happy... She is safe, and she isn't hurt.

D~

Its always hard to send our kids off on their own, but sometimes its necessary. Hope V made it home safe and sound. We got our first accumulation of snow here today. We were supposed to get about an inch before it turned to sleet and freezing rain. We have about 6 inches of snow. I guess I shouldn't complain since the sleet and freezing rain held off.

Lots of accidents on the road though. Charlie was going to come home today, but I told him not to. He'd only have to turn around and go back tomorrow morning, and its a 2 - 2 1/2 hour trip on a good day. I spent the day finishing up the quilting on Kate's quilt!!!!! Now to sew the pieces together and put the final border on it. Should be done soon.

I also shoveled snow so that I can get my car out tomorrow morning.

Poor V and you!! Glad she is safe though. I'm sure it'll be hard to let her go again. That is wrong that the driver did not have a number of someone he could call in case something did happen. I'm sure they are going to get a lot of phone calls from upset parent's tomorrow.

Sending prayers that V gets home safely.

I loved your announcement. That may be a selfish item to purchase

THank you Chiara!

Yah - I've been super excited about it for months! It's been very hard for me not to tell anyone - so my family is pretty darn sick of hearing about it. :confused3

Sending prayers for V. Would you be able to share your big announcement about your SSP on the Dis?? Love the castle bag. Be safe if you have to go out driving today!

Thank you! I am sorry that I can't... I am afraid that The Dis would consider it soliciting, and I don't want to get into trouble for it... I can try to send you a PM though - if I forget, you can PM me. :thumbsup2

My first post on the DISboards! I've enjoyed your trip reports and now your pretrip report. I LOVE your bags! What is your facebook fan page called? We're head to WDW next winter and this could be trouble!

Welcome!!! So happy to have you here, reading and following along. And to have my PTR as your first post!!! Awesome!

Unfortunately, I cannot post the name of my fanpage on The Dis, because it is considered soliciting... And I cannot PM you, because you need 10 posts to send/receive PMs... You can feel free to post 9 more random posts here, if you'd like, so you can get to your 10 posts. :lovestruc

Fly By ---saw the announcement on FB and very nearly squealed. How very cool!!

Safe journey for V

Now I'm going to try and catch up some more on the DIS.

Yah - isn't it awesome? I am soooo excited about it! I cannot wait to reveal the bag to you all - it's cool!

Thanks for the safe journey wishes. I hope you got caught up on The Dis!

That is great that Josh surprises you. I give DH ideas all the time (even take pictures and send them to him) and he still seems to forget.

Hahaha... I give Josh ideas all the time too - but whether he takes interest in them or not is a whole different story.

I hope V had a great weekend and makes it home safe. I read that she's still not home but hopefully she is by now.

Thank you - she did eventually make it home... It was a long night for all of us!

The only one's I have to get stocking stuffers for is the 5 of us. But have to find a day I can go shopping without James. Maybe I'll go one day after DH get's home from work and he can stay home with the kids.

Sounds like a plan! I hope you are able to get it done - as Alli informed me last night - only 15 more days until Christmas. :woohoo:

Great savings at Target!! Glad you were able to get some things for your trip already at such a great price!

Thanks! I was happy about it too!

Hi V!!! It's great to see you! We want to see Frozen too - I think we will go next weekend. I hope you get your new teeth for Christmas - I bet you will! It is very cold here too - I bet it's almost as cold here as it is at your house. Thanks for stopping by - We miss you!!!

D - This is the first time I have had a chance to catch up and saw your posts about V's trip - sent a prayer out that she gets home safe and sound; I know the worry of us Mom's!!!! Thanks you so much! It's so difficult sometimes, but I appreciate each and every person here and their power of prayer too!

I love, love, love your Castle bag. You hit it out of the park again! Maybe one of these day I can have a D original

Thank you! I am very happy with how it turned out!

There are some beautiful people here following you D - we enjoy your company!

Have a wonderful week! Stay safe.

Thank you! I am glad you do. I hope you have a wonderful week, as well. :lovestruc

We were supposed to get about an inch before it turned to sleet and freezing rain. We have about 6 inches of snow. I guess I shouldn't complain since the sleet and freezing rain held off.

Thanks Tess - she did eventually make it home last night... It was a long night for all of us.

We have quite a bit of snow too... We received the slush/rain last week - which is currently frozen under all of our snow - which makes for a LONG winter... The main roads are clean - but the back roads that I drive have a nice ice pack on them - I am pretty sure it will be there all winter now.

I am glad he stayed put - that is often times the best thing to do.

I am happy that you are making such great progress on Kate's quilt! I cannot wait to see it when you are done.

I also shoveled snow so that I can get my car out tomorrow morning.

That is definately a work out - and not one that I enjoy doing. :headache:

Poor V and you!! Glad she is safe though. I'm sure it'll be hard to let her go again. That is wrong that the driver did not have a number of someone he could call in case something did happen. I'm sure they are going to get a lot of phone calls from upset parent's tomorrow.

Thank you Sandra. I think I would let her go again, because despite the horrible bus trip home - she had an amazing weekend. However, I am not sure she will want to go again... The was very upset last night.

**********************************************************

I will do a V update first. I thought I posted here last night that she was home - but I am not seeing my post? Her bus pulled into school at about 9:30... She had been on a buss for 10.5 hours yesterday... Allison and I greeted her, and she was sobbing/crying... She was very stressed out about the whole thing, and I think she was just so relieved to be home, she couldn't hold it in any longer. Which I totally understand - it was a long and tiring day for her. To top it off - she was almost 2 hours past her normal bed time, and she hadn't had dinner yet... So we grabbed her dinner at Arby's and headed home. By the time she got to bed, it was almost 11pm. I've decided to let the girls sleep in today, and I will drive them into school later... Not sure how late I am letting them sleep in?

I did take a photo of her bus though, because all the while we were waiting - Alli and I were joking around that they must have sent a bus from Canada to pick them up....

20131208_211626.jpg

I worked in my sewing room just a tiny bit yesterday morning... I purchased a fleece hat and scarf set for my dad, and I purchased a design to put on it with my new embroidery machine... It turned out pretty good - it's a hair off center, IMO - but I don't think he will notice much. I think the stitching iteself is marvelous - and we all know how picky I am about that.

20131208_112854.jpg

Allison and I cleaned the livingroom yesterday afternoon... We have been having gifts trickling in from all over the world for Christmas... I am talking HUGE boxes (kind of scared to see what's in them). So, we had to move those out - since Josh went to the local boy scout tree sale lot and purchased our tree for the season... We were planning to decorate it last night after dinner - but that didn't happen. I am honestly, half-tempted to just call the girls into school sick and let them stay home today, and we can decorate the tree. LOL I know that won't happen, but I am tempted.

Allison and I watched Home Alone after we cleaned... Love that Christmas movie!

And - it's official - I am not setting up the village this year. It's my first year ever missing it, and I feel badly - but it just doesn't make sense to now... It's too late in the season, and too much work.

Alli and I went to town last night to get Victoria - we left at the same time she loaded on the new bus. Allison wanted to do some Christmas shopping, and we had dinner at Subway... Shocked - I know... but Alli had a coupon for a free sub she wanted to use. It wasn't nearly as good as our beloved Jimmy Johns, but oh well. Then we goofed off in my Target store for over an hour... Found the humongous candy section! So, I had to have my picture taken... :rolleyes1

939f82b6-f6f2-4fc5-a875-41a1445ddf6c.jpg

Then we had to kill another hour... So we went across the street to Walmart, and found a few things in there... I found myself some cute Disney Jammies on clearance... One pair of zebra Mickey pants in a size 3XL (which I plan to cut down to my size) and a pair of Micky head shorts - which are a size Large and correspond with my current size, but they look really small - so I am not sure if they will fit me or not?

Once we were done there - we still had another hour to kill (seriously???)... So, Alli and I splurged on a Ghiradelli chocolate bar and bottles of water... Then we sat in the car, texting Victoria and sharing our treat.

It was a very long night for all of us. I am just so thankful to have V home again. :lovestruc Thank you for any and all prayers I received - and even if you didn't get the chance to read before she got home, thank you for allowing me to vent. :grouphug:

Have a wonderful day everyone... Sending up prayers to all in need.

Hello my dear friend.
i was thinking about you ALL weekend! even at my intense volleyball games.

I love the castle bag it is adorable and i am in love with the interior fabrics!

Looks like i will be going for broke in your SSP your crazy days and anything else you will be throwing out there to buy!!! :rotfl: thanks for that...

as for you taking care of your family.
that just goes to show people who don't already know what a kind hearted, loving person you really are. you go above and beyond for people. regardless they take advantage, you know you did what you can to help others. Screw the takers. :rolleyes1

LOVE YOU

Mean it.

I'm glad V finally made it home after that long bus trip. I can only imagine how worried you were. My daughter was in marching band in high school and travelled to a lot of competitions. the farthest was in Virginia Beach and one was in Toronto. I worried about her every time. Especially the Canada trip.
I went to visit my mom over the weekend. She'd hurt her knee on thanksgiving. When I got home we went Christmas and grocery shopping at the super Walmart and Kohl's. We put the tree up last night.
Hope you have a great day. I'd let the girls stay home. I bet a lot of the kids that took that trip stayed home today.

All four of my kids were in marching band, orchestra or choir (some in all three!) and they traveled extensively for competitions. When Kate was a freshman the marching band went to New Orleans (on busses, no less)! When Steve was a freshman they traveled to WDW and led off the Main Street parade one day. That was the trip where they went on 4 busses and came back on 3 - one broke down in FL, so they loaded all of the kids and band equipment on the other 3 busses and of course, were late getting back.
They also went to Toronto, Virginia Beach, and Washington DC for an inauguration parade. Lots of stress for Mom.

The only long trip I went on as a chaperone was the one to NYC when Shannon was a senior - my last opportunity, but I had to ask her permission first :rotfl2:. We had a blast, but it is a huge responsibility to be in charge of several teenagers!

I just wanted to add, that it really doesn't matter how old they get, or whether they are living at home or not, you never stop worrying about them!

So sorry to hear about the bus disaster with V. That's just tragic! It does look like you and Alli had fun killing some time though! I am happy to hear that V did make it home safely...even a little late! You're a great mom for letting them sleep in...I would totally let them stay home all day though!

Happy to hear v made it home safely. From the summer after 8th grade through my sr year I traveled across the us with a small drum and bugle corps. This was in the time before cell phones........ Not sure how my mom tolerated that. I would go nuts:scared:

Also super excited for Friday...... I told my husband to hold off on Christmas shopping for me!

Enjoy your day!

After asking you yesterday, I found your Facebook page. I really think I missed my calling as a private investigator ;) I haven't had time, but I can't wait to take a look.

I'm glad your daughter made it back safe and sound. It's -42 here today with the windchill, so trust me we know all about freezing temps and car trouble!

Sorry to hear about the troubles V had getting home. That is terrible that the bus driver couldn't get a hold of anyone. You would think they would have procedures for breakdowns and such.
But it is funny the bus she showed up in, considering your conversation with Allison. :goodvibes

I want to say I love the Castle bag! how wonderful you could commemorate their engagement!

The photos of you with the candy is cute, they make you look elf -sized :)

I am glad you were able to get some rest though. :lovestruc

Thank you. It was nice to get the rest but it would have also been nice to get things done. But I'll take rest over getting thing done right now.

Sounds like a plan! I hope you are able to get it done - as Alli informed me last night - only 15 more days until Christmas. :woohoo:

Well I didn't get any wrapping done today. :rotfl: But I did get a little nap this morning and laundry folded, kitchen cleaned and some other things cleaned up before my SIL got here with my niece and nephew. Then while they were here I kept cleaning and just getting things done. Got to do it while I'm feeling good.

Thank you Sandra. I think I would let her go again, because despite the horrible bus trip home - she had an amazing weekend. However, I am not sure she will want to go again... The was very upset last night.

Poor V! I can only imagine how emotional she was. It does sound like she was just ready to be home. Glad she had a great weekend though besides the trip home.

Great job on the scarf set. Turned out nice.

Fun shopping and killing time. But I can't eat anything you were holding in that picture. :rotfl: Which I'm actually ok with. So hard to go into the stores right now and see it all but know I only have about 6 more weeks to go and hopefully I'll be able to eat a little bit more normal but plan on still keeping the junk food to a minimum.

Thank you Liz.... It is very scary to let them go.

I hope your mom is doing better.

I was a mean mom and made the girls go to school - but I let them go two hours late and sleep in. :thumbsup2

Oh wow Tess - I cannot even imagine. :scared: I was hoping that would diminish a little bit after they leave for college... not so?

I am happy to hear that V did make it home safely...even a little late! You're a great mom for letting them sleep in...I would totally let them stay home all day though!

Thanks! Yah -I thought about it. But in the end, I had to be the responsible parent. LOL

Happy to hear v made it home safely. From the summer after 8th grade through my sr year I traveled across the us with a small drum and bugle corps. This was in the time before cell phones........ Not sure how my mom tolerated that. I would go nuts

Oh yah - I would have been certifiably crazy - I don't know how your mom did it?

LOL Well, I hope I can live up to your expectations. :flower3:

After asking you yesterday, I found your Facebook page. I really think I missed my calling as a private investigator I haven't had time, but I can't wait to take a look.

I'm glad your daughter made it back safe and sound. It's -42 here today with the windchill, so trust me we know all about freezing temps and car trouble!

Wow! I am impressed! :thumbsup2 Those are some great sleuthing skills you have!

Yikes! I am NOT ready for the -42 weather... We usually don't get that until January/february... and I try not to leave the house on those days. LOL

Sorry to hear about the troubles V had getting home. That is terrible that the bus driver couldn't get a hold of anyone. You would think they would have procedures for breakdowns and such.
But it is funny the bus she showed up in, considering your conversation with Allison.

I know - I am super annoyed by it, still - but I am glad she had a good time otherwise.

LOL Yah - When the bus was driving by on the road to the school, Alli said "Mom, that bus has a Canadian flag on it"... And I told her... "No way!" And it did - LOL.

I want to say I love the Castle bag! how wonderful you could commemorate their engagement!

The photos of you with the candy is cute, they make you look elf -sized

THank you Tracy - it was a lot of fun!

LOL Well, that's pretty good then... I was hoping that HUGE candy would make me look smaller. :rotfl2:

Thank you. It was nice to get the rest but it would have also been nice to get things done. But I'll take rest over getting thing done right now.

I totally understand... I was one of those who never had morning sickness - but WOW, I could sleep all day every day through both of my pregnancies.

Well I didn't get any wrapping done today. But I did get a little nap this morning and laundry folded, kitchen cleaned and some other things cleaned up before my SIL got here with my niece and nephew. Then while they were here I kept cleaning and just getting things done. Got to do it while I'm feeling good.

I am glad you were able to get some cleaning done - Nothing ever stays clean here for long, and it seems, by the time I am done with one room and on to the next, the first room is a disaster already. Sigh. I figured it would get better the older the girls get, but it's just different stuff. LOL

Poor V! I can only imagine how emotional she was. It does sound like she was just ready to be home. Glad she had a great weekend though besides the trip home.

Yah - she is doing much better. It was just that first half hour off of the bus... She was getting so mad, because the bus driver kept circling "Robot City" (what we call an ethenol plant nearby) because he would miss his exit... She texted me... "Mom, I don't think the driver knows how to get home, we've passed Robot City 3 times"... LOL I think that was her last straw. :crowded:

Great job on the scarf set. Turned out nice.

Thank you! I am overall happy with it. :thumbsup2

Fun shopping and killing time. But I can't eat anything you were holding in that picture. Which I'm actually ok with. So hard to go into the stores right now and see it all but know I only have about 6 more weeks to go and hopefully I'll be able to eat a little bit more normal but plan on still keeping the junk food to a minimum.

LOL I don't eat anything I was holding either... Although - I was a little tempted by that Reeses - just to say that I'd eaten one. LOL But I left it behind. I am shocked you only have 6 weeks left! It is going by so quickly! It seems like just last week you told us all you were pregnant! Have you been able to maintain good numbers with just your diet?

**********************************************************

I had a pretty boring day here yesterday...

I quilted my next auction bag... I am really excited about this one! I love the character and it's one I've never done before!

Then yesterday afternoon, I finished my Christmas skirt. I tried it on one last time... I could have taken it in a little more, but I just decided to leave it. Now, I can't wait to wear it!

I also pulled out the 3xl jammie pants I bought at Walmart the other night, I was going to cut them down, but I am just not sure how I am going to do it? They attached the waistband in a sort of funny way, so I am not sure how I want to take it off? Or if I just want to cut it off? Not sure. :confused3

V is doing much better... She is happy to be home and back to her normal self... I think she was just tired/hungry/annoyed... Can't say I blame her.

Last night, we decorated our tree. It feels good to have it up and done... And it's finally starting to feel like Christmas. Now we need to start our Christmas movie marathons in full force!

e5ff23f0-98e5-47e3-9330-f7db112490d7.jpg

Today, I FINALLY get to go in for a hair cut... If you'll remember back about 6 weeks ago - I cancelled my last one due to the Federal Govt. shutdown... So, I've been dealing with no hair cut for 6 weeks now, and I am about ready to explode. I CANNOT wait to have my hair normal again! :cheer2:

I hope each and every one of you has a marvelous day! Thinking and praying for anyone who needs it today... Any updates on Gwen, Tess? I am not sure Lois will be stopping in for updates on Jennifer? She is probably pretty busy?

D~

I took an unexpected snow day today. It started snowing about 6 this morning and it is coming down hard. I tried to get to work, I really did! I got to the interstate and 4 miles up it was blocked with a long line of tractor trailers stopped on a hill. I decided I didn't really want to sit there for another hour or so, so I got off the exit. Still took me about an hour to get back home - 8 miles from my house. Now I have to adjust my vacation time over Christmas :crazy2:.

No word yet on Gwen - she goes to Honolulu today, so I should know something by this evening.

Since I have an unexpected day off, I plan to get some sewing done!

I'm finally back and all caught up! I think your PTR was the last one I needed to catch up on so now I can go back and concentrate on mine again. :rotfl: As I said on my TR, Mom and I had a wonderful time over Thanksgiving shopping. I've got all of my Christmas shopping done, now I just need to get it all wrapped and in the mail since most of my gifts go out of state. Wish I had a helper with the wrapping, it's not something I enjoy much either.

What a stressful day for V! I hope it doesn't sour her for future trips because some of my best memories are from trips like that. We did have one horrible trip to Bush Gardens for marching band. The tour guide they hired just tried to cram too much stuff into the trip and we were all exhausted by the end. Oh, and we had a bus break down oh the way there too. They just put everyone from that bus on the other two buses. There were kids sleeping in the aisles since we drove there during the night. Looking back that was probably not a good idea at all!

I loved the new bag design with Piglet! Very cute and the castle bag is beautiful too. Oh no, another crazy days auction? :scared1: Not sure my wallet can handle that. :rotfl2: Looking forward to seeing the SSP this week on Facebook.

D, I have to admit I skimmed (yours is only the 3rd PTR/TR I've gotten to since getting home Sunday afternoon). I love the Piglet and Cinderella bags. I'm glad you are able to help out your dad; family is always first in my book.

I love your Christmas tree. :)
