~ Sew Sweet 16 ~I’m packing your angry eyes just in case~Aug 2014~ BFF' bag 8/20!!!!

V did an awesome job with the blanket - Its always nice to finish a project and I love the colors she used.

I do have pictures of the drunken Barbie - I need to upload them from my phone. I also have pictures of the wristlet I made for Kat too. I ended up putting in $21 dollars, 21 quarters, 21 dimes, 21 nickels and 21 pennies for her gift since I forgot to buy something for her :rolleyes2 I'm soooo bad at that.

I'm hoping things are going well at the Doctor this morning. Jennifer is seeing her doctor this morning as well to see how her leg is doing. Praying for both of our girls!

I am finally feeling better, but have been so busy trying to get caught with my life, I haven't taken the time to get caught up on everyone's ptrs or to start my TR. Bless Dan, he cleaned the house for me while I was at a bridal shower on Saturday, so I could relax instead of come home and work. I'm still getting my strength back.

I did love that pic of you and Alli in the mirror! Also, until you mentioned them, I never saw any spots on the mirror. lol You crack me up!

We did not get the new mugs that someone mentioned and i'm bummed! I asked if new mugs were about to come out because they only had two colors to choose from and there are usually at least four. The CM said no new mugs were coming. Maybe they are at certain resorts, but not all yet?

I love all the suggestions for bags and glad they inspired you. I have a suggestion, but am saving it for my bag if I ever get a slot. Hope you have a fabulous day!

ETA: Oh, and what a great job V did on the blanket!! Glad she's enjoying crocheting. She's very skilled!

Wow D- that is what I call a winter wonderland. Glad you were able to get a few errands done.

I thought of you when eating my sweet potato last night. Tyler slices his sweet potatoes, puts them in a Ziploc bag, adds a little olive oil, salt and pepper, shakes them up, then spreads them on a baking sheet and bakes about 20 min at 425. They are delish.

Anxiously awaiting news about Alli's appt. I hope the doctor gave her a very thorough visit. Sometimes docs seem so rushed. Fill us in!

Well, this is the end of February, and you know what that means - we get to see your ADR's soon! Cannot wait to see what you have in store. You are so right, you are going to see more chefs than characters. Keep them on their toes D.

I had to tell you what the postman said when I mailed your Dad his postcard. "We hate postcards. They are such a pain, and have to be hand stamped. I hope it gets there." Wow, I was speechless. I do hope it gets there.

Have a wonderful week. As always, prayers sent you and your family's way.

Hope things went well with dr this morning and he was able to talk some sense into Alli.pixiedust:

V did a great job on the blanket!

Did I tell you how much I LOVE that Dumbo bag?

I have a bag idea that I thought might be really fun to try but I've such a long list that I don't know when I would ever get to it. How about something Britto inspired? Have you seen his work? Very bright, multi patterned patchwork. You could have a lot of fun with that.

I’m a bit embarrassed to tell you I booked a May trip for my birthday. I really struggled with the decision. DH said to go, I have my pass, I got a great bounce back deal on a room at Pop but it still feels selfish to book a solo trip. I am not at all concerned that I won’t LOVE being there alone-just concerned that it feels or appears to be selfish. I finally booked because I know I need it and as the sole wage earner under a lot of stress think I even deserve it. I won’t be completely alone. My friend and her DD will come for the weekend-she’s a professor and will be between spring and summer sessions so I’m trying to talk her into taking her DD out of school for 1 day so they can go to the 25th Anniversary celebration at DHS. I have one coworker who will be there for 6 of my 7 nights and another coworker (that I’ve traveled with before) who will be there for 4 of my nights. I’m looking forward to going at my own speed and doing exactly what I want to do. It will enhance my family August trip to go in May-in May I get to do only what I want to do-in August I can be more charitable with what others want to do.;)

Have you seen the decorate your Magic Band thread? Someone did an awesome Stitch one (on page 19) that I may try to do for Emma.:stitch:

I promised I would stop by with an update from Alli's appt... It went well, she is doing well, and she is healthy. :woohoo: The Dr. doesn't seem too concerned with her vegetarian eating... asked her all sorts of questions about the kinds of foods she is eating... Maybe I am blowing things out of proportion? Maybe? We will see what the bloodwork says when it comes back, because it will tell us the truth.

The Dr. said I should have results of everything (except the Vitamin D) by this afternoon. I"ve been anxiously awaiting the phone call, but as of now, it's silent. :/

Now, I am off to research some recipes, to see if I can find anything good to make for dinner tonight... One of the big comlaints at our family meeting (from Josh and I) is the craziness of me making 3 different meals per night... So, I am going to attemt to see if I can streamline things a little bit better? So far, on the menu is pork chops and brussels sprouts... Need more for Alli, and add a potato for DH and V. :thumbsup2

Have a great afternoon all! :)

D~

What a fun weekend. The hockey game sounds exciting - "lots of fighting" :rotfl2: The best part. LOL. No comment on Alli's guy friend. Good luck with that one :scared:

V's blanket is wonderful. I'm so impressed that she picked up crocheting and that she finished the blanket. I can imagine getting overwhelmed with such a big task. She did a great job. The girls look so cute in their hats!!!

Sounds like Alli is doing well and I hope the blood work turns has good results too.

Looking forward to your calendar pages. :surfweb:

I bet you are tired all the time, but the pictures you are posting of him on FB just make me want to fly over and cuddle him - he is just so little and adorable!

Thank you Sandra... One more month... (I know, I've been saying that for 2 months now... :rolleyes1)

How about a couple more then? I know you've seen these on FB but they are just too darn cute to not share again. :lovestruc

 Wow you guys did get a lot of snow!!! Hope it clears up and soon. I'll say I'm loving our weather these last few days!! We've been in the 70's!! But the rain is coming which we need so I'll enjoy our gorgeous weather while I can.

Glad to hear that Allie's appointment went well. Now hope the blood work all come's back good too.

Love the blanket V made!!! She did an awesome job on it!!!

Thinking of you at Alli's appointment this morning. I hope it helps her to move in the right direction for herself. My husband and I have both had bloodwork this year and for each of us we were able to get the results in a week or less so you might not have to wait too long for answers.

Thanks Jennifer... I hope so too. They were supposed to call yesterday with the results, but they never did call. :confused3 Hopefully today.

We went for another nice long family walk yesterday morning. It was very nice, although Charlotte decided she wanted to walk (instead of ride in her stroller) very early on in the walk. Then she wanted to be carried which left my husband pushing the empty stroller and trying to control our 150 pound Great Dane. It didn't last long before I had to strap Charlotte all the way into the stroller so she couldn't climb out again. She was not a happy camper but she ended up falling asleep for a few minutes before we made it home.

I love family walks... But poor dad - sounds like the walk was more of an adventure for him?

I love that you had a family meeting and that it should help. I find it's so easy to put those kind of discussions on the back burner and often, when you get around to them, you find out everyone was pretty much on the same page anyway and delaying the conversation just delays things getting better.

I've found - the older the girls get, we are much better off if we are just honest with them and explain our reasons for why we do and make the decisions we do. They may not always agree with us - we don't expect them to - but hopefully they understand. For the most part - it seems to work well... Or at least better than "because we are the parents - that's why"... LOL

And like I said in the family meeting... We are a family. We won't always get along, and we will drive eachother crazy, but we are stuck in this same house for a few more years, so we must do our best to try to get along, and make things easier on eachother. We will all be happier in the long run if we just open our eyes and try to help eachother out. It's a great theory... Hopefully it works. :wizard:

Exciting news here! If we can work the budget out, we may be going to Disney next month for Spring Break! I'm very excited as we are officially taking a break from Disney (we've had annual passes 3 out of the last 5 years - we took some time off when I was pregnant and Charlotte was small). We wanted to do something with the girls for Spring Break and when I started pricing stuff out, it seemed like Disney would be the most affordable option. We have budget and details to work out but my husband got his vacation time approved this morning. I'll keep you posted.

That is very exciting! I sure hope you get to go! I wish I could just plan a spur of the moment trip like that - I feel like, because we live so far away, it's so much more expensive... So, I always have to plan and save forever. popcorn::

I hope things go well at the doctor's today and you get some answers. Maybe he can get through to Allie about the importance of good nutrition.

Thanks Liz... Unfortunately, the Dr didn't think much about her eating... So, I am hoping the bloodwork makes her take it a little more seriously. Otherwise, I just don't know what else to do?

I It sounds like you had a good visit with Brian's in-laws. Victoria did a good job on that blanket. The colors look really good together. My daughter is into crocheting, too. After we got back from the airport she went to JoAnn's for more yarn.

Thank you! I am very excited for Thomas to get it... It's so fun/bright/colorful...

IWe survived the trip to the airport. There was no traffic and the roads were clear. I wish I could say the same about my daughter's boyfriend and mother. They got lost on the way to the rental house the company got them. His mother kept arguing with him about the directions the gps was giving them. I'm glad I wasn't there. Hopefully the rest of the trip is better.
Liz

Oh wow... I also hope the rest of their trip is better. That is the reason I let Disney pick me up at the airport and drive me all over - no chance that I will get lost. :rolleyes1

V did an awesome job with the blanket - Its always nice to finish a project and I love the colors she used.

Thanks Tess! It turned out really awesome! I want her to make one for me now. :woohoo:

I do have pictures of the drunken Barbie - I need to upload them from my phone. I also have pictures of the wristlet I made for Kat too. I ended up putting in $21 dollars, 21 quarters, 21 dimes, 21 nickels and 21 pennies for her gift since I forgot to buy something for her I'm soooo bad at that.

I cannot wait to see it! Hahaha... What a great idea for a gift! :woohoo:

I'm hoping things are going well at the Doctor this morning. Jennifer is seeing her doctor this morning as well to see how her leg is doing. Praying for both of our girls!

Hi Lois!!! Thank you! Please update me on Jennifer's appt... I sure hope it went well. :wizard:

I am finally feeling better, but have been so busy trying to get caught with my life, I haven't taken the time to get caught up on everyone's ptrs or to start my TR. Bless Dan, he cleaned the house for me while I was at a bridal shower on Saturday, so I could relax instead of come home and work. I'm still getting my strength back.

I am so happy to hear you are feeling better - I was starting to worry about you. And how nice of Dan to help out around the house... I hope you are able to get back to normal soon.

I did love that pic of you and Alli in the mirror! Also, until you mentioned them, I never saw any spots on the mirror. lol You crack me up!

Hahahaha... Figures... I was wondering about that. :rolleyes1

We did not get the new mugs that someone mentioned and i'm bummed! I asked if new mugs were about to come out because they only had two colors to choose from and there are usually at least four. The CM said no new mugs were coming. Maybe they are at certain resorts, but not all yet?

Hmmmm... Bummer that you didn't get the new mugs... It always amazes me that we know more about certain things than the CMs do. LOL

I love all the suggestions for bags and glad they inspired you. I have a suggestion, but am saving it for my bag if I ever get a slot. Hope you have a fabulous day!

I am anxious to hear what it is...

ETA: Oh, and what a great job V did on the blanket!! Glad she's enjoying crocheting. She's very skilled!

THank you - I will be sure to tell her.

Hope things go good at the doctors.

Thank you very much... I have not received any results yet, I am anxious for them to come back.

Wow D- that is what I call a winter wonderland. Glad you were able to get a few errands done.

Hi Carol... Yah - it was an interesting drive for sure. When I first turned on to that road, I was like "uh-oh" we may be turning around, because I saw it was pretty much drifted closed... Thankfully we made it there and back OK.

I thought of you when eating my sweet potato last night. Tyler slices his sweet potatoes, puts them in a Ziploc bag, adds a little olive oil, salt and pepper, shakes them up, then spreads them on a baking sheet and bakes about 20 min at 425. They are delish.

THose sound delicious! I've heard of doing them this way - but I've never actually done it.

Anxiously awaiting news about Alli's appt. I hope the doctor gave her a very thorough visit. Sometimes docs seem so rushed. Fill us in!

The girls' Dr. normally spends quite a bit of time with us, which is why I like her so much... She did ask her many questions about what she is eating... but I think her bloodwork will some back a bit different. We'll see. I hope to have the answers today.

Well, this is the end of February, and you know what that means - we get to see your ADR's soon! Cannot wait to see what you have in store. You are so right, you are going to see more chefs than characters. Keep them on their toes D.

Yup... I will post them on Monday morning. Along with my main calendar page.

So sad that we will see more Chefs than characters, but - I've heard that Disney is pretty efficient when it comes to things like this, so hopefully our meals won't take too long.

I had to tell you what the postman said when I mailed your Dad his postcard. "We hate postcards. They are such a pain, and have to be hand stamped. I hope it gets there." Wow, I was speechless. I do hope it gets there.

Yikes... Sounds like he has some sort of vindetta against post cards. :confused3  I am sure it will reach my dad with out a problem. Thanks so much for continueing to think of him Carol! :lovestruc

Have a wonderful week. As always, prayers sent you and your family's way.

Thank you Carol - same to you.

Hope things went well with dr this morning and he was able to talk some sense into Alli.

Thanks Bernadette! I hope to have some answers today, since I did not get a call yesterday.

V did a great job on the blanket!

I will be sure to tell her. She will be thrilled to so many people like it.

Did I tell you how much I LOVE that Dumbo bag?

Hahaha.... I am not surprised. It's one of my favorites too!

I have a bag idea that I thought might be really fun to try but I've such a long list that I don't know when I would ever get to it. How about something Britto inspired? Have you seen his work? Very bright, multi patterned patchwork. You could have a lot of fun with that.

Oooh - interesting. I have not heard of Britto - but I am going to go google him now... YOu know how I feel aobut bright and multicolored! :thumbsup2

I’m a bit embarrassed to tell you I booked a May trip for my birthday. I really struggled with the decision. DH said to go, I have my pass, I got a great bounce back deal on a room at Pop but it still feels selfish to book a solo trip. Don't ever be embarassed!!! How FUN!!!! If you ever want company - let me know! This sounds like a great trip and such a wonderful way to take a few days to unwind after such a stressful time at work for you. I sure hope it's settling down now. :wizard:

Have you seen the decorate your Magic Band thread? Someone did an awesome Stitch one (on page 19) that I may try to do for Emma.
http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=3190181

I have seen a few of them, but sadly - it's not a thread I have kept up with. I definatly need to check in there more often though!

Thanks for stopping by Bernadette... Please say hi to the family for us. Still bummed that we are going to miss you by a matter of hours in August - we had so much fun last year! :lovestruc

V's blanket is Ah-MAZ-ing!

~Jennifer

Thanks Jennifer!!! I will be sure to let her know! And thanks for stopping by. :lovestruc It was nice seeing your little note on my FB wall the other morning, I hope you are well too!

What a fun weekend. The hockey game sounds exciting - "lots of fighting" The best part. LOL. No comment on Alli's guy friend. Good luck with that one

Yah - it was a good weekend, lots of fun. Looking forward to the first playoff game on Friday night.

V's blanket is wonderful. I'm so impressed that she picked up crocheting and that she finished the blanket. I can imagine getting overwhelmed with such a big task. She did a great job. The girls look so cute in their hats!!!

Thanks - I will be sure to tell her. I am so proud of her for picking it up all on her own... She has so many artistic talents!

Thanks! They really love those hats!

Sounds like Alli is doing well and I hope the blood work turns has good results too.

I hope so too... I will post the results when I get them.

Looking forward to your calendar pages.

Thank you! I am getting very anxious to share them!

How about a couple more then? I know you've seen these on FB but they are just too darn cute to not share again.

You can share this little guy any time you want... He is such a little peanut!!! So precious!

I hope so too... I will be sharing the results when I get them back - as I am sure I will need help deciphering them. LOL

Love the blanket V made!!! She did an awesome job on it!!!

Thanks Sandra! I will be sure to tell her. :lovestruc

**********************************************************

As you all know, Alli had her Dr. appt yesterday morning. It went well. I still do not have the results back - I hope to have them back today. Hopefully the results give us some answers.

She was so good at her blood draw, that the technician allowed her to pick out a sticker! :woohoo:

20140224_084812.jpg

Afterwards, I took her out for breakfast... Poor girl was starving! Then she went to school and I came home to work.

I received some FUN Pixie Dust in the mail yesterday, my good Dis-friend Connie (Oopsi-Daisy) sent me these adorable hair clips she had made with her girls! They are so cute! Thank you SOOOO MUCH Connie! I just love them! I am going to wear the Minnie one to work tomorrow! WHOOT! She also sent a couple of goodies with for the girls, but I forgot to take pictures... They thought they were pretty cool. So, thanks a million - Dis friends are the BESTEST! :lovestruc

(I suck at taking selfies... LOL)

Allison's boyfriend (it feels weird saying that) is coming for dinner again tonight. I think he likes us? Not sure. LOL Originaly - they were going to meet at Caribou after school, but then he asked if he could come for dinner instead... So, I am making meatballs with who-knows-what-else? Because it's a school night, he can't stay much past dinner though.

I will be appliqueing all day today in my sewing room, and probably most of the day on Thursday too - this bag has a lot of applique work.

I hope you all have a fantastic day today! Sending out prayers and Pixie Dust to all who need it! :grouphug:

D~

Hope you get Alli's results soon - waiting is no fun!

I managed to get a run in yesterday at the end of the day. I'm thinking of doing an end of the work day/first thing in the morning combo for my work outs. I need to decide how many days I'm going to try to get a work out in, and then on work days that I know ahead of time won't be possible to cut out at 4 (today - I'm meeting a friend for lunch, next Tuesday - Charlotte has a doctor's appointment) I'll do the work out at home first thing in the morning. I'm hoping giving myself some flexibility and options will help me stick with this and get into a good routine that will help my health, mood, and weight.

Our Spring Break plans are up in the air right now. I did some research yesterday. We can do 5 nights at Pop with 4 day tickets for under $1100, which I don't think is too bad. I don't mind the value resorts but I certainly appreciate the moderates and deluxes (we usually rent DVC points) - Caribbean Beach and Coronado Springs are about $1300 each but I'd much rather do French Quarter for $1600 :rotfl: This will have to be a budget trip though, so I imagine it will be Pop, depending on what I find out when I call about military rates. I hate that you can't check military rates online. The other option, which is more DH's speed, would be going to Hilton Head. We can get a 2-bedroom villa for $1700 which we could split with my parents and there wouldn't be any park tickets so it would probably end up about the same as Disney. I may just go start a pre-trip report so I can stop clogging up your report, D.

I'm so glad the doctor visit went well, but I hate that the doctor didn't reprimand Alli's eating choices. If the blood work shows a deficiency, I'm sure she'll talk more about nutrition to Alli. Hope you hear today.

Jennifer had another x-ray and they saw she had a fracture. But the good news is, it is healing on its own already. She is going to undergo a 30 minute procedure under anesthetic to straighten her leg. Then they will put a cast from thigh to ankle to keep her leg straight. She'll have to be in the cast 2 weeks, then will be put in a metal brace that will keep it straight, but will be less cumbersome and she'll be able to shower. She is walking with a crutch still and limping badly enough to be causing problems in her back and knee. The doctor says the tendons, ligaments and muscles are just bunched up and the PT isn't enough to keep them straight. So, hopefully this will help. It means I'll be heading back to Virginia for at least two weeks since she won't be able to drive. But she'll be more mobile than before, so it won't be so physically hard on me. Thanks for asking!

I just got completely caught up on your report. It took a while, but was very interesting. I love the Dumbo bag! I think I have a soft spot for Dumbo because I remember seeing the movie as a child. (can you believe it's THAT old???) You captured that little guy perfectly! And you know I love Mo's bag. The Belle bag is beautiful! I, too, love the lining fabric. And you did your usual stellar job of stitching and capturing expressions. Chip just jumps out with that ornery little grin!

And my goodness, D~ your progress photos don't lie...you've done an amazing job! I always thought you were beautiful, with one of the best smiles I've ever seen, but now you look 10 years younger. (And you didn't look you age before either!) I hope that soon you'll be able to focus on the progress you've made instead of what you have yet to achieve. A SIZE 12, girl!! Celebrate!

I will second (or third) the thought of a Christmas-time trip to Disney with your Dad. It is just an amazing time to be there. You can spend time resort hoping to see all the spectacular decorations. The Osborne lights are worth it all by themselves. And the Candlelight Processional is so moving and special. It is just so great to spend the best time of year at the best place on earth. Hope it can happen for you both.

And the whole Valentine thing, we usually go out for dinner, but we have "date night" every Friday, so we maybe go somewhere a little more pricey or special on V Day. For years Dan would surprise me with flowers for no real reason. Sometimes just a single rose, sometimes a bouquet or a plant. He told me he would never get me flowers for V Day because it wouldn't mean all that much. He's right, IMO. This year, though, he bought me a Mickey/Minnie handbag. Surprised me completely. There's a story behind it, but I can't tell it yet.

Okay, I've got to get going, but I wanted to tell you to have a wonderful day and happy sewing.

I hope you get Alli's results soon; I hate that waiting game.

Love the photo of her getting a sticker. :goodvibes

Hard when your kids have a boyfriend/girlfriend. I didn't adjust to it well at first either.

Love the hairclip from oopsi-Daisy.

Have fun in your sewing room today.

I LOOOOOOOOOOOOVE the blanket!!! she did a fantastic job. Geez all of you are so talented!!!

hope you get the results SOON!!!

Nice Chicago shirt...

Love ya mean it!

GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO GUS!

Have a great afternoon all! :)

D~

We have someone at work who has been a vegetarian all her life - her parents were vegetarians, so you would think she would be a little better at trying to get better foods to eat. But I just cringe at how much bread she eats. A sandwich would be two slices of bread with lettuce, tomato, etc. What kind of nutrition is that? She is also about 5'11" and can't weight more than 110 pounds. :worried: But she also eats veggie burgers and things like that, so it isn't all just a bunch of wheat.

I share your concern when I see teens who claim to be vegetarian but only eat breads and chips. I am really surprised that the doctor didn't seem more concerned with Ali's diet. I'm sure you wouldn't have minded a bit more support in that department.

Have you tried soy milk in the smoothies? That is what I add to mine. And Mexican food is a great option for the vegetarians and the gluten-free people. It is an easy fast food option, too. Adding more beans to the diet will help.

Good luck with the diets and recipes.

How about a couple more then? I know you've seen these on FB but they are just too darn cute to not share again. :lovestruc

Oh my what a cutie. Love seeing pictures of your little one.

Look at your skinny self!!!!
That is exactly what I was thinking!!!

D~ Can't wait to see your next bag with all these appliques.

Hope you don't mind but I wanted to point out my new ticker. I am so excited to be going on our first ever cruise in a little more then a month. We (ok, me and the kids) have been talking about going on a Disney cruise forever and I guess my DH finally took note because he booked a trip a few weeks ago after talking to his friend who lives in Florida and often goes on the Disney cruise. I'm not sure what prompted the actual booking but he wasn't planning on telling us until about a week or two before but Curtis got the mail the other day and found a letter from the Disney Cruise line. So excited and more then a little surprised - I don't usually let my DH plan any vacations / trips but I think I will let this one slide. Hope you don't mind the hijacking of your PTR.

You can share this little guy any time you want... He is such a little peanut!!! So precious!

I think his new nickname is going to be peanut. That's what my mom calls him too!! He is a cutie!! I do enjoy all the time I get to spend with him. I'll be sure to get some more of him with his brother's and sister and start sharing them. Today Jeremy brought tears to my eyes with how much he loves him (especially considering some of the things he said about not wanting the baby while I was pregnant with him). I had Baby Jeffrey sitting next to me on the couch and was getting ready to feed him and he started fussing a little bit and Jeremy comes over to him, puts his hands gently under his back/neck/head and goes nose to nose and smiles at him and tells him "It's ok baby, big brother has you." Baby Jeffrey just looked at him and smiled. Wish I could have gotten a picture but they were way to close to me for it to turn out so I just enjoyed the moment. :cloud9:

I am very anxious for spring... I cannot wait to get outside to start walking again... So tired of being cooped up.

I don't blame you. If I was having to deal with all that I'd be anxious for spring too. Our rain is supposed to start tomorrow night which we need but I'm not looking forward to having to deal with it if it's still raining when I have to bring the kids to and from school.

I hope so too... I will be sharing the results when I get them back - as I am sure I will need help deciphering them. LOL

Hope those results came back and you got them.

So tomorrow I go in for my blood work from the gestational diabetes. Hoping everything I've been doing has managed to have it go away now that I've had the baby. I'll let you know once I have my results back.

Oh my what a cutie. Love seeing pictures of your little one.

Thank you!! Since D has given me permission to bombard her thread with pictures I'll be sure to share more as I take them. Really need to get more of him with the other kids too because they really do love him.

Hope you get Alli's results soon - waiting is no fun!

Still no results... Sigh.

This sounds like a great plan... Gotta make it work however you can. One thing I am learning... The compostion of your body is 80% diet and 20% excercise... And I am proving this every single day... How I eat is much more important than how much I work out. Just food for thought. :wizard:

Our Spring Break plans are up in the air right now. I did some research yesterday. We can do 5 nights at Pop with 4 day tickets for under $1100, which I don't think is too bad. I don't mind the value resorts but I certainly appreciate the moderates and deluxes (we usually rent DVC points) - Caribbean Beach and Coronado Springs are about $1300 each but I'd much rather do French Quarter for $1600 This will have to be a budget trip though, so I imagine it will be Pop, depending on what I find out when I call about military rates.

I know - it's so much more fun to keep adding on, but you have to do what you can afford. :wizard: No reason to go into debt over a vacation - IMO.

You are welcome to hog my report with trip plans anytime... Especially seeing as I can't post mine until next week. The Dis prefers that I stay on Disney topics, and any help I can get with that is always welcome. :thumbsup2

I'm so glad the doctor visit went well, but I hate that the doctor didn't reprimand Alli's eating choices. If the blood work shows a deficiency, I'm sure she'll talk more about nutrition to Alli. Hope you hear today.

I know, I know... It is frustrating. I just hope her bloodwork comes back soon - if she is deficient in anything, I want to be able to help her get what she needs.

Wow Lois! I am so sorry for Jennifer - I was soooo hoping that the healing would be well on it's way. My continued prayers go out to her, as always. She is so very lucky to have you for a mom - and the grands are so lucky to have you as well... You take such great care of them. :lovestruc

Thank you Lois... That Dumbo bag turned out to be one of my all time favorites... The funny thing is that I questioned my fabric choices a bazillion times over for that bag - and in the end, I am soooo happy I went with my original thought, it turned out much better than I thought it would. :cloud9:

And my goodness, D~ your progress photos don't lie...you've done an amazing job! I always thought you were beautiful, with one of the best smiles I've ever seen, but now you look 10 years younger. (And you didn't look you age before either!) I hope that soon you'll be able to focus on the progress you've made instead of what you have yet to achieve. A SIZE 12, girl!! Celebrate!

Aww... Thanks Lois... I am still such a work in progress, and so much more I want to accomplish. It is still so hard to celebrate, when what I see in the mirror is so different than what everyone else sees... I hope my mind gets there soon - but in a way - the mental lapse is keeping me going too... :wizard:

And LOL - I ordered a size 12 for spring... It doesn't quite fit well enough to wear into public yet (Have to lay on the bed to get them on...) - but I sure hope, by the time it's warm enough to wear them, they will fit properly. popcorn::

I will second (or third) the thought of a Christmas-time trip to Disney with your Dad. It is just an amazing time to be there. You can spend time resort hoping to see all the spectacular decorations. The Osborne lights are worth it all by themselves. And the Candlelight Processional is so moving and special. It is just so great to spend the best time of year at the best place on earth. Hope it can happen for you both.

This is definately something I really want to try to do with him - even if it's a "short" trip... I think that a 5 day trip (6 nights) would be perfect... One day in each park and a day off in the middle... We'll see... It will be - for sure - another year. I need to see how our trip to WA goes next summer.

I think that's so sweet that you do date night every Friday... :lovestruc Maybe once the girls leave for college, we can do something like that?

Ooooh... I want to hear the Mickey/Minnie handbag story!!!! Speaking of which... I am waiting anxiously for your TR to start!

Okay, I've got to get going, but I wanted to tell you to have a wonderful day and happy sewing.

You too Lois, thank you for taking the time to stop by and catch up. Much love to you and yours.

I hope you get Alli's results soon; I hate that waiting game.

Me too... No calls yesterday either... Sigh.

Love the photo of her getting a sticker.

LOL - she reminded me of when she was a little girl... It was just yesterday... Sigh - they grow so fast.

Hard when your kids have a boyfriend/girlfriend. I didn't adjust to it well at first either.

Yes, it is... But - so far - as much as I don't want to - I really like him. :thumbsup2 He is very nice and respectful... He calls me "ma'am"... Polite... And doesn't seem to mind our strict rules...

Love the hairclip from oopsi-Daisy.

Have fun in your sewing room today.

Thank you - me too... I can't wait to wear it to work today! I think I am going to wear my Mickey earrings and bracelet too... might as well complete the ensemble. :woohoo:

I LOOOOOOOOOOOOVE the blanket!!! she did a fantastic job. Geez all of you are so talented!!!

Thank you - I am just so proud of her... It took her SO much time.

hope you get the results SOON!!!

Me too! Still waiting...

Nice Chicago shirt...

Love ya mean it!

Thank you - right back atcha girly!

GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO GUS!

But she also eats veggie burgers and things like that, so it isn't all just a bunch of wheat.

I share your concern when I see teens who claim to be vegetarian but only eat breads and chips. I am really surprised that the doctor didn't seem more concerned with Ali's diet. I'm sure you wouldn't have minded a bit more support in that department.

You are right, this is my biggest concern for her. It bothers me a lot that the FDA's former food pyramid and now (I think it's a) pie has made us believe that grains are the BEST food for you - when they don't offer any nutrition at all - or not any nutrition that you can't get from a more natural source... Grains are the ULTIMATE in processed food - there is nothing natural about them - despite the beliefs of Conventional Wisdom. So, seeing Alli eat a diet of mainly grains is truly bothersome to me... Her meals consist mostly grains, and a few veggies... Snacking is absent minded (or at least the snacking I see...)... For me - I have to work hard every single day just to hit my macros, and I can eat meat to help me out... For her - she would have to work double hard, and she doesn't do that. Praying the bloodwork results open her eyes.

Have you tried soy milk in the smoothies? That is what I add to mine. And Mexican food is a great option for the vegetarians and the gluten-free people. It is an easy fast food option, too. Adding more beans to the diet will help.

Good luck with the diets and recipes.

Thank you for the ideas - I really appreciate it. I will look into this more. :hippie:

Look at your skinny self!!!!

:rotfl2: Thanks Tess... Still a work in progress.

Oh my what a cutie. Love seeing pictures of your little one.

I know - I am so glad she shares here!

That is exactly what I was thinking!!!

D~ Can't wait to see your next bag with all these appliques.

Thanks Liz! :lovestruc

I absolutely do NOT mind at all... I am so excited for you!! HOW FUN!!!! And what a nice surprise!!!! EEEEEK!!! :woohoo: YOu must all be on cloud 9 for sure!!!! I'd love to know more about your plans! Are you flying down or driving? How long of a cruise is it??? Tell me more!

That is just the sweetest story ever... One for his baby book and one to lock away in your memories. :lovestruc

I don't blame you. If I was having to deal with all that I'd be anxious for spring too. Our rain is supposed to start tomorrow night which we need but I'm not looking forward to having to deal with it if it's still raining when I have to bring the kids to and from school.

Yup - I am desperate for capri and flip-flop weather! :wizard:

Hope those results came back and you got them.

Not yet... The phone was silent yesterday. Sigh.

So tomorrow I go in for my blood work from the gestational diabetes. Hoping everything I've been doing has managed to have it go away now that I've had the baby. I'll let you know once I have my results back.

Oooh - good luck today! I have a good feeling that your numbers will be perfect. YOu'll be in my prayers.

Thank you!! Since D has given me permission to bombard her thread with pictures I'll be sure to share more as I take them. Really need to get more of him with the other kids too because they really do love him.

Yes - Love seeing pictures of him! :lovestruc

**********************************************************

I am so happy that I made such good progress in my sewing room yesterday. I was certain this would be a 2 day applique, but miraculously - I was able to get it drawn/cut/pieced/stitched completely! :woohoo: And it turned out great! Very happy about it!

Dinner last night was good, we had a good time... I do enjoy Alli's boyfriend a lot... He is very funny and makes some witty comments, and he seems to tolerate my obsessive need to chaperone their "dates" right now. For that matter - I was willing to let them meet for coffee alone after school yesterday, and it was him that suggested he would rather come for dinner... Fine by me... I would rather have them here where I can keep an eye, then somewhere that I can't. I know, I know... but this is all new territory for me. :confused3

I work all day at Target today... And it's my new early shift. Hopefully it goes well.

I hope you all have a wonderful day. Sending out good thoughts and prayers to all who need them.

D~

Thought about Alli today when I was reading our local paper. There's a book called The Smart Girl's Guide to Going Vegetarian that is geared towards teenagers. It might have just the info that Alli needs to help her!
And Congrats on your healthy eating and weight loss! I need to read up on the Paleo diet....I have been pretty much doing that for almost 9 months (without knowing it had a name!) since I've been dairy and gluten free. I know that you love your dairy products but I didn't know how bad they were making me feel until I gave them up. Keep up the good work, whatever works for you and your family!! :cheer2:
