~ Sew Sweet 16 ~I’m packing your angry eyes just in case~Aug 2014~ BFF' bag 8/20!!!!

The Piglet bag came out really cute. It looks like it's aabout the same size as one I made my mom. Even though it's smaller than I'd like, she uses it all the time. The Mickey bag is cute, too. The color and dots are what I associate with Mickey.
I hope you have happy Thnksgiving. I'm working 8:30am to 5:30pm tomorrow and Friday in photo. At least I'll miss all the madness.
Liz

D, I just love that bag! Everything about it. If I ever get lucky enough to grab another one of your spots...I want this pattern. I like the smaller size. Now that Bradey is getting bigger, I don't need to carry as much stuff in the parks and this size is just perfect! Eeeekkk....when are you taking orders again??

Happy Thanksgiving tomorrow!!

Two more adorable bags now (I'm getting caught up so I hadn't seen the Mickey bag) and piglet!

The stockings turned out so well. I know you spent a lot of time working on those but they will be precious family heirlooms! Great job!

Thank you for the wonderful Thanksgiving greeting.

Wishing you and your family a happy and yummy Thanksgiving!

D, I am behind as usual; however, wanted to stop and wish you a peaceful, family filled day!

Have a wonderful Thanksgiving I can't wait to see the bag and have fun at Turkey Gait.

Thanks Chiara! I hope you have a wonderful Thanksgiving too!

Charlie and I both wish you and your family a very Happy Thanksgiving. Have fun at the Gobble Gait - we have a turkey trot here tomorrow, but I am not running in it - this year - maybe next year.

Andrew came home yesterday, but I haven't seen him yet - geesh, you'd think he'd want to see his mother.... He went to visit a friend and spent the night there - I'm happy because the weather was awful. No snow thank goodness, but lots of rain. It took Kate more than 2 hours to get home from work - normally about a 45 minute drive. We may get some snow tonight once the temps drop, but I'm hoping not.

I was glad to hear Jennifer's surgery went well. Still saying prayers for a quick recovery for her.

Safe travels to everyone this weekend.

THanks Tess - I hope you have a wonderful Thanksgiving too!

Bummer that Andrew is home but didn't stop by to see his mom... What is up with that? I am glad that he played it safe in the weather though.

I hope the worst of the weather is over and you can enjoy your holiday.

I love it! Beautiful!

Thanks! Over all I am happy with it. :thumbsup2

I like the new pattern! I just did my first appliques this week (two neckties and one bowtie) and the satin stitch was my nemesis. Looking at your closeups, do you do a straight stitch along the inside of your satin stitches? Any tips for applique on knit? I am using a ball needle and stabilizer.

Thanks! I did meander over to the Disboutiquer thread and I saw your appliques (but I didn't comment) - they turned out fantastic!!! You should see my first ones... :rolleyes1 I have never appliqued on knit - OK take that back - I have done it once or twice, but I don't like it. I always end up with serious issues. I wish I could help you out with that. I followed Heather Sue's tutorial to learn, she offers great advice - but I am not sure there is anything in there about knit? It's been so long since I've read it. BUt seriously - if that is what your first hand appliques look like - you are destined for some beautiful ones in your future! :wizard:

The piglet bag is super cute! I hope you and your family have a wonderful thanksgiving. I also hope your blackfriday shift goes well. This is the first time I haven't gone since my daughter was born. With the weather I am feeling better about the decision not to go. I work tonight and will nap before going to my mother in laws. Hopefully it's an uneventful night in baby land!

Thanks! I hope you have a wonderful Thanksgiving, as well! And I hope you had a good shift at work. :lovestruc

That bag is great! The zipper was a good idea!

I hope you and your family have a GREAT Thanksgiving! I'm making your potatoes Everyone loved them last year!

THanks Stephanie! Ahhh... The potatoes... Yah - I'll be missing those this year, as well. Have a nice pile for me. ::yes::

I adore the bag. Awesome colors and the placement of appliqués is great.

Thank you Chiara!!!

Thank you Liz! Yikes!!! Is Walmart open on Thanksgiving day? Despite that, I hope you have a wonderful Thanksgiving!

Now that Bradey is getting bigger, I don't need to carry as much stuff in the parks and this size is just perfect! Eeeekkk....when are you taking orders again??

Happy Thanksgiving tomorrow!!

Thanks Suzi!!! I will be taking orders again in March for delivery between Sept 2014 and March 2015. Sadly, I cannot make that bag to sell - as the pattern is for "home use" only... So, I would have to gift it to you - which is not out of the realm of possibility. :lovestruc I love the bag you described and I might have just enough fabric to do that - I've been searching high and low for that B*W Mickey fabric, because I knew you loved it, and I cannot find any more of it. I plan to continue my search.

Thank you Judy! I hope you have a wonderful Thanksgiving as well! :lovestruc

**********************************************************

Today is the day...

HAPPY THANKSGIVING EVERYONE!!!!

I leave in just over an hour for the Gobble-Gait... I am not sure what I was thinking? I am such a freeze-baby these days... and it's so cold out there. I will be bundled up - for sure! I am a bit nervous about wearing my giant Turkey hat, it is GIANT afterall... And this isn't Disney... :rolleyes1 Hopefully my neighbors aren't too embarassed to be seen with me...

I had a great day in my sewing room yesterday... As you all saw, I finished Myrthe's bag. That made me super happy!

After I finished Myrthe's bag, I had a few options of what I could do with the rest of my day... I could finish one of my SSPs... I could start on my Christmas bag... I could take a nap... I did NONE of those things. I am a bit disappointed in myself. I really NEED to get that SSP done, I am just having issues getting focused on it again. That happens to me occasionally. :confused3

Soooo... What did I do? I decided to work on the skirt I am making myself to wear for the holidays. The reason I did this, is because I wanted to work on my holiday bag - but I am using the same fabric as the skirt - so I needed to make the skirt first to see how much fabric I would have left. I didn't want to make the bag and end up with not enough fabric for the skirt. Makes sense, right?

I made the skirt a size smaller than the dress I had made this fall... It's by the same pattern maker, so I was pretty confident that it would work out. Otherwise, I would make it work out. So, I put it all together and tried it on - to my surprise - IT FIT!!! Yay!!! Not only that, but it was a hair too big - not a full size too big, but a hair. So, I adjusted it accordingly. ::yes:: I managed to finish most of it yesterday. I plan to leave it sit for a couple of weeks now, because it's at a spot, where if I need to bring it down a bit more in size, I can still do that. :woohoo: Oh, and I tried it on with my sweater set - and OMG!!!! I really like that sweater - it makes me look good. LOL

Anyways... I better get a move on my day.

I hope each and every one of you has a wonderful Thanksgiving, and you are able to enjoy it surrounded by family and friends!

Happy Thanksgiving!

D~

D-I wanted to wish you & yours a very Happy Thanksgiving!!!

Thanks so much for thinking of us last week. I've been crazy busy with work(they've fired 5 more people), busy trying to figure out how the magic bands will impact our trip, and crazed trying to be all set for Christmas before my trip.

I love your stockings!!! I saw these ornaments and thought of you-http://stumblesandstitches.blogspot.com/2011/11/tutorial-scrappy-stocking-christmas.html

Love Myrthe's bag. Piglet is so adorable!

I hope you wore your hat this morning. It was so awesome! Wasn't V supposed to go with you?

Have a wonder day today! Hope tomorrow isn't too bad at Target. I've got to start packing this weekend.

At Gobble Gait this morning, with my hat on... We start in about 20 min...

Hi Bernadette! Thank you so much! I hope you and your family had a wonderful Thanksgiving too! :lovestruc

Oh no!!! Work sounds like it is just getting crazy awful for you, I am so sorry to hear this! I hope your trip is bringing you a much needed distraction.

I love your stockings!!! I saw these ornaments and thought of you-http://stumblesandstitches.blogspot.com/2011/11/tutorial-scrappy-stocking-christmas.html

Hahaha... LOL I am not sure I could look at another stocking this year. :faint:

Love Myrthe's bag. Piglet is so adorable!

Thank you!!! I really love how it turned out overall.

I hope you wore your hat this morning. It was so awesome! Wasn't V supposed to go with you?

LOL Thanks! Yes, she was, but in the end - she chickened out. She couldn't handle being seen in public with that big ol' turkey hat. :confused3

Have a wonder day today! Hope tomorrow isn't too bad at Target. I've got to start packing this weekend.

Thank you! I hope you had a wonderful day too. HOpefully not - we will see?

Happy Thanksgiving.

THank you Shannon! I hope you and your family had a wonderful Thanksgiving too!

that is a really cute bag pattern, love it. and Happy Thanksgiving!

Thank you!!! I hope you and your family had a wonderful Thanksgiving as well!

I had a great day yesterday.

The Gobble-Gait was so much fun! I would definately do it again! ::yes::

Afterwards, I came home and took a little nap - it wasn't a long one - and I wasn't all that tired, I was just kind of bored, so I laid down.

Then I read all of the ads in the Thanksgiving paper... That took me a while, because they are all like catalogs. LOL

Then we all took showers and got ready for Thanksgiving dinner.

It was a lot of fun - and quite interesting. We all went to an Itallian restaurant, where they served a turkey dinner. It was very delicious. However, it did not feel much like Thanksgiving - it felt more like going out to a restaurant to eat a meal. There were 14 of us - one of Josh's aunts and I sat right in the middle - so when they served the meal, everyone passed from the ends... The result is that we didn't get much. At first I was annoyed - but then I claimed it was a great diet strategy. ::yes::

In the end, I had one small plate of Thanksgiving dinner (I kept the appetizer plate, rather than trading it in for a dinner plate)... And for the first time in my entire life - I left the Thanksgiving table about 80% full - which is my goal for every meal. I am kind of proud of myself for this. I knew dinner would be easy for me, since we were at a restaurant.

Afterwards, we went to Josh's dad's hotel, where we all gathered by the pool. We all had pie. Josh and I forgot the icecream, which for me - was kind of nice. Josh makes an ahhhh-mazing cranberry/raspberry pie, and for the first time ever, I was able to enjoy the taste of the pie with out icecream, and it was delicious. It was very tart - but it was good. :thumbsup2

L to R: Me, Victoria.... A few cousins... gap... Alli... A few aunts and uncles... Standing in the background, Josh's dad and Josh

Josh and I left early with the girls, as we both have to work today.

Hopefully Target isn't too crazy? I am sure it won't be - considering all of the early bird black friday shoppers will be home and in bed. So, I am quite certain my day will be kind of slow - I hope not - but...

Thank you everyone for your nice Thanksgiving wishes. I hope each and every one of you enjoyed your day with family and friends. :lovestruc

That sounds like a love thanksgiving! Great willpower! I hope target is busy but not crazy! :)

Firstly - I love the Piglet bag! Although it isn't as tall as your UPB, it is wider, so there should be plenty of room. I like to carry a slightly smaller bag for everyday use so I would love it!

Looks like you had a wonderful Thanksgiving dinner with family! I've had Thanksgiving dinners out at a restaurant before and they can be fun. I, on the other hand, spent most of the morning cooking or preparing food to cook later. Spent the afternoon with my daughter and son and brothers, and family. We had a wonderful day, and I ate too much - although I only had one plate of food and didn't finish all of that :confused3

You did great though, and the fact that your skirt is/was slightly too large is wonderful!

I'm getting ready to head out to do some shopping. Going to JoAnns, Kohls and Target and may go to over to the mall to the Orioles store to pick up a few things. Hopefully I don't run into too large crowds, but still be able to find some good deals.....

I went through the ads yesterday too and it took forever.

Have fun at Target I am actually debating going there today but I probably won't. I do have to run an errand or two later when G gets up.

We went to my Moms and it was nice. I had 3 glasses of wine which is big for me but our holiday was very nice just my parents, us and my sister and her husband. My brother had the holiday with his inlaws at his house.

I did some Christmas shopping online.

I love your Turkey hat.

Hey D - just now catching up and didn't get a chance to wish you a blessed Thanksgiving; hope Target wasn't too crazy today for you; I am planning on going there early tomorrow to see if they have any trees left at half off; as usual, love your bags, you are so talented. Keep up the great work staying healthy! Have a beautiful weekend.

I'm glad you had a good Thanksgiving. I hope Target wasn't too busy today. I think most of the shoppers were out last night and early this morning.
We weren't that busy today in general. the electronics complex is always busy. Our main problem was that the cell phone companys' servers were overloaded and we couldn't do contracts for a while today.
Yes Walmart was open on Thanksgiving. We used to close until an associate was killed when he opened the doors one black friday. They decided it was safer and more profitable to stay open. We did get Thanksgiving dinner served to us. It was very good. They also fed us today.
Liz

I went to Target today about noon, got an Ipad 2 that came with a $100 gift card - good deal! I was pretty surprised they still had some. I went for the Ipad Air but they were all gone :worried: I did order one for DD from Best Buy and saved $50. I didn't go anywhere else today, we'll see what tomorrow brings :goodvibes

Thanks for the reply! I used HeatherSue's tutorial, too. :) I don't really plan to use knit often--so that's good! I really appreciate the encouragement!

Thanks! But I am not so sure that I like it... I really like the shape of the outside exterior, but I don't think the inside is as nice... At least in the main part of the bag - which has nothing to do with the pocket I added... I am not sure? I think if I were to make the bag again - I might do it totally differently? I am definately going to have to think on it. LOL

Thank you - I hope you had a wonderful Thanksgiving too! Yes - the nicest part was that there was no prep work or clean up. That alone almost makes it worth it. :thumbsup2

You did great though, and the fact that your skirt is/was slightly too large is wonderful!

Yes! I was very happy about that, it was totally unexpected. I sometimes get a little frustrated, because even though I am losing inches, my body shape isn't changing - so that kind of annoys me. Eventually it will, I hope. LOL

Oooh - I hope you had fun shopping!!! And I hope you were able to get everything on your list.

Did you make it to Target? Hopefully it wasn't too crazy if you did.

I saw a few of your Thanksgiving photos on FB... I need to stop by your page to see if you posted one of Sami in her new dress though - I thought I saw a post about it yesterday, but I was mobile all day and didn't get a chance to look.

I am glad you like my hat, and thanks for rooting me on. :thumbsup2

Thank you! I hope you had a wonderful Thanksgiving as well. And good luck at Target - most Targets are getting trucks this morning, so hopefully there will be a nice Black Friday replenishment on them... It's doubtful - but one can hope. :thumbsup2

Great update....hope Target goes well for you.

Thank you! I haven't seen you around in a few weeks - I hope all is well. ::yes:: And I hope you had a great Thanksgiving.

I hope you had a nice THanksgiving too... That is a bummer about the cell phone companies. We are the smallest Target store in the metro, so we only carry no-contract cell phones, so we don't have to mess with any of that. I can barely keep up with those as it is, it seems like they are constantly changing.

I agree with the safety aspect of it - each Target store does BF differently, ours normally only lets people in through one door and a single file line - we have team members staged about every 10 feet, no one is allowed to run. Our carts are also moved, so they are not in the way, and people can grab them further into the store. It seems to work out well.

It's a bummer you had to work on Thanksgiving. I didn't realize that Walmart was open. Is it every Walmart? Or just select ones? I am glad they fed you, and hopefully you had a nice pay for working that day.

I went to Target today about noon, got an Ipad 2 that came with a $100 gift card - good deal! I was pretty surprised they still had some. I hope you had a great THanksgiving Stephanie. Yah - we were out of the Airs right away too, but we still had Ipads and Ipad Minis when I left the store at 1:30 - we were very low on them, but we still had them. That was a fantastic Gift Card deal though - I totally agree! Definately the time of year to buy one if you are going to.

Thanks for the reply! I used HeatherSue's tutorial, too. I don't really plan to use knit often--so that's good! I really appreciate the encouragement!

I hope you had a great Thanksgiving. I am glad my post was helpful - Heather Sue's tutorial is one of the best. Just keep practicing - it will all come to you, there is definately an art to it. Just like there is an art to the embroidery machine. :thumbsup2

**********************************************************

Good morning all! I cannot believe I've had the time to stop in all weekend. It helps that I've not been sleeping well, and up way earlier than necessary. Oh well.

Yesterday at Target was insane! And I loved it!!!! I criss-crossed the store no less than 20 times with in the first hour I was there. Which resulted in me changing my shoes about an hour into my shift. I was scheduled in Softlines (which is not normal for me) - but essentially I was just a floor person. I was also scheduled to back up in electronics. Which, after my first hour, I never left electronics - it was SUPER busy and I was often calling for several backups to my backing up. LOL But I loved every moment of it! :thumbsup2

Target gave us a lunch of Chipotle yesterday... Which makes me nervous. You all may remember that before my gall bladder surgery, Chipotle always set off the worst pain for me. I tried it once after my surgery and it again created huge pain... So, I tried it yesterday - fearfully - I ate about 4 bites of my steak burrito on my break, and packed the rest of it up. No pain. :woohoo: Then, when I came home - I had 4 more bites... Still no pain. :woohoo: I also gave half of it to Victoria. After that - there were about 4 more bites left, which I gave to Alli, and she picked out the meat - which I ate. Who knew that 1 burrito could feed 3 people all day long? LOL Part of the problem, is after all of the pain Chipotle has caused me - I no longer find it very appetizing - and it sort of makes me ill just thinking about eating it.

Victoria came with me to work yesterday... She wanted to see Catching Fire - but there just wasn't any time for her to do that this weekend. So, her only option was to come to work with me at 8am, and walk to the movie theater (4 blocks away) for the 10am showing. Which is exactly what she did. Things like that make me so nervous - but I have to remember to let my girls have a little bit of freedom. She LOVED the movie!

After work, I did a bit of shopping. I purchased a shirt for myself... This one: Champion Microfleece Pullover A friend of mine came through electronics wearing it yesterday - and I just loved it. I was shocked that she bought it earlier in the day, at our store. I had to find it for myself... Unfortunately - we had ONE left - in pink (not my favorite color) and it was 2 sizes too big. LOL I purchased it anyways. I plan on taking it in on the sides - it's super comfy and super warm and I love the ruching detail on the sleeves and shoulders. :lovestruc When I am out shopping today - I plan to look for it in black and white.

The plan for dinner last night was leftovers (again) - but Josh stopped for pizza. I was still full from grazing on Chipotle all day, so I only had 1.5 pieces.

I went to bed very early, because I was up so early yesterday. Anyone see a sleep pattern forming? :headache:

Today is my big Christmas shopping day with my neighbor. We do this every year - and we have so much fun! We always go out for lunch somewhere nice. I don't have a lot to buy for today, as we have whiddled our Christmas buying list down to very few essential people. We used to buy for everyone and their neighbor - but we just cannot afford to do that anymore. So, we buy for immediate family only now, and it makes Christmas shopping so much easier. It's just more economical anyways. Looking forward to spending the day with my neighbor - we always have such a good time. We are leaving at 8am this morning, and we usually don't get home until well after dinner. ::yes::

I hope each and every one of you have a wonderful and fanatastic Thanksgiving weekend! Our prayers are going out to everyone in need. :lovestruc

And just to keep this rambling post on a Disney topic... One of my favorite Donald photos from our 2008 trip...
