Sew much to do, sew little time - but it was worth it! New PTR link posted! ~~~~~~~~~

We continue to get rain and storms... This is the road I usually take my walks on, about a half mile south of my house - we have never seen anything like this!

And people are stupid - seriously - even though the bridge is washed out under (the water washed the cones away) - they kept trying to cross it.

I think this turned out to be a great bag!

I really struggled with what the main color should be. The person that ordered it requested the Hawaiian print to match Lilo's dress, and I had the worst time deciding what to do for the rest of the bag. That is part of the reason I am running so far behind. If I can't visualize it in my head, then I have a hard time starting. It wasn't until I found the interior pocket fabric that it really pulled the whole bag together for me. I also love that I quilted this bag in red - it gives it a loud pop!

I love the front ruffle and I love the Hawaiian piping around the zipper.

I absolutely love this bag but you know we love Stitch here :)

Thanks Sandra! I was actually perusing the fabric selection out there for your bag last night... :stir:

Now your going to make me want to wish the summer away and I'm not ready for that because come August 28 I'll have a KINDERGARDENER!!! And I'm just not ready for that!!

That would be awesome if you could see it in person!

:thumbsup2

I could only imagine the storms your having. Never any fun. Glad you guys are ok.

Sandra- I will definitely bring the bag when we meet up again!

YEAH!! You want to see us again!! :lmao: Yeah!! I'll get to see this great bag in person!!!

Forgive me D~, I have been so wrapped up in my own soap opera, I didn't realize you were sick, or that storms have been terrifying you! It only takes one experience like that to really get to you. I LOVE your Stitch bag, my brood love him...although I don't quite know why...:confused3

Alright I will be on the look out for your bag. I will show DD as she has an eye for all things bags and shoes:lmao:

What a horrible way to start your day yesterday...and sick too! So sorry D~! :flower3: I do hope your tummy is on the mend so that you and the girls can enjoy your weekend away.

Thanks Oopsi! I think I am better now... For the most part - I felt OK yesterday. Hopefully I am feeling even better today.

what a scary day for you guys....so happy you are okay
those types of storms are awful, been on the fringe of a tornado and a hurricane when we lived in Branson and Hilton Head, will take the rain here anyday!

I agree - I freak out with tornadoes, I am not sure what I would do with a hurricaine... Although, if I was at Disney - I'd be OK with that (as long as it was a non-park day though). :rolleyes1

hope you can finish up your bag before the weekend....so where are you and the girls going? hope its somewhere fun!

I will be up there all day today, and most of tomorrow.

The girls and I are going to my BFF's (from highschool) house. She is also Alli's Godmother. Long story short... She met her Dh at our wedding (Lynnie was my Maid of Honor & Jay was Josh's best man). They've been married for, gosh, 12 years now and have 2 kids of their own. They lived in Colorado for a long time, and finally moved back to MN in 2008 - I was so excited to have her so close - but this is the first time I've been to her house. Sad, I know... They actually live about 3 hours from us - so it's not *that close*. They went to WDW with us in 2008, it was a fun trip! But they are definately not the Disney freaks that I am. :rolleyes1

Lynnie and I - roughly 1989 (Yes, I am ashamed to say, I was caught initiating a "rake fight" - and yes, I am wearing a Bon Jovi tee shirt - sigh)

So, yes we are all super excited to see them again. We have not seen them since the summer of 2009 - so sad.

I love the word "tushie" too, just sounds better then some of the other words

think we need to start a new game for when we are in the parks...."where's D~ bag" be kind of like searching for hidden mickey's

hope work goes quick today and the storms stay away!

know I forgot something.....hope you feel better, not fun having an icky tummy

Oooh... I love the "I Spy D~'s Bag" idea... Hmmm... we could really get that going. What could I offer as a "prize"?

Hope you are still feeling better and the "bug" didn't come back :crazy2: (I know it says "crazy" but it looks like the "sick" one and they keep moving the darn smileys around on me so deal with it)

I wrote down that rhubarb cake recipe. Can't wait to try it! We are hosting an 80th bday bbq at my house this weekend. This looks like the perfect cake to make! There will be about 100 people on my lawn :scared1: on Sunday, so I think this cake will be gone in no time.

Hope you and the girls have a great weekend!

Thanks Suzi! :) That will be the perfect cake for the party. Let me know how it goes over.

Oh, D~, I don't mind at all that you posted the pics. I am mad at myself for not being online. I had the last 3 nights off work, and have been running around trying to do everything on my "to-do" list and falling asleep early. When I am at work all night, I get to check the days new posts during my break, and then yahoo was acting up at home so I never got past that.

I love his tooshie also. That is one of the best parts of the bag.
Sandra- I will definitely bring the bag when we meet up again!

Oh good... Phew! I hope you are able to get your to-do list done soon.

Athother great bag D. I really need to get my act together. You are just whipping out Bags left and right and I still have yet to start the top for my DD.

Everytime I see one of your bags my heart starts begging me for one. But than my logical head tells me that I need to save my money for my Disny Trip next year and I can't be spending the money right now. Dang head getting in the way of my fun.:p

I don't feel like I am whipping out the bags, LOL... I feel like each one is taking f o r e v e r!

No worries Corri - if you can't have one, then I just won't make one for you. :wizard: That way you don't have to worry about caving. LOL So, now if you ever want one your are going to have to BEG forever to get it. :thumbsup2

D, Now that I'm on my son's computer, I can see the quilting is red. On my computer it looked grayish. Mine is soooo old and his is a newer one.

Oh good - I am glad you were able to see it.

What a great Stitch bag! Truly wonderful, D! :goodvibes

Thanks Liddy!

I absolutely love this bag but you know we love Stitch here :)

Oh - I know you do! :woohoo:

Now your going to make me want to wish the summer away and I'm not ready for that because come August 28 I'll have a KINDERGARDENER!!! And I'm just not ready for that!!

I could only imagine the storms your having. Never any fun. Glad you guys are ok.

YEAH!! You want to see us again!! :lmao: Yeah!! I'll get to see this great bag in person!!!

Oh no, don't wish time away... Enjoy every minute. It will be your turn soon enough. :wizard:

Forgive me D~, I have been so wrapped up in my own soap opera, I didn't realize you were sick, or that storms have been terrifying you! It only takes one experience like that to really get to you. I LOVE your Stitch bag, my brood love him...although I don't quite know why...:confused3

Oh Judy... No worries - PLEASE! I know you have your own battles going on right now, and mine are nothing at all compared to yours. I totally understand, my friend, and just worry about your family and getting things taken care of on your end.

Alright I will be on the look out for your bag. I will show DD as she has an eye for all things bags and shoes:lmao:

I hope you have the most wonderful trip ever Michelle!!! Please update us when you can. And kiss The Duck for me. :rolleyes1

I will be working on the prototype backpack all day today. I hope to get it quilted, and partially assembled. There are still a few things I need to figure out with it, and I can't do that until it's mostly together.

It's finally sunny here today, looking forward to a day with no rain. Have a great day everyone!

Rhubarb Cake recipe (soooo bad for you)

Preheat oven to 350°
Bake for 55 minutes

1 yellow cake mix
4 Cups Rhubarb
1 small carton of heavy whipping cream
1 cup sugar

Mix yellow cake mix according to directions and pour into greased 9x13 pan. Sprinkle Rhubarb evenly on top.
Sprinkle Sugar evenly on top of rhubarb.
Pour whipping cream evenly over the top of the whole thing.

Bake.

Must be served with vanilla icecream. And any leftovers must be covered and refrigerated.

Thanks! Do you cut the rhubard up really small? I've never made anything with it - doesn't it look like celery?

Yes, it has stalks like celery... I cut it into about 1/2"-3/4" long chunks.

I knew I liked you for a reason, I love Bon Jovi too :cloud9:

happy you are feeling better today, hope what ever you had stays away!

no need for a "prize" for your game, will just be fun! you should have everyone who is going to WDW send you their dates so anyone else going then can be on the look out! now the CM's will make comments on them too! they loved the bag you did for Megan!!!

hope you have a great day sewing!

Goodness about all that rain! Stay dry and SAFE! Hope you have a fantastic time visiting your friend.

Just a quick check in...

I am super excited about the progress I made on the back pack yesterday... I managed to get all the pieces quilted - and that is a huge task! There are a lot more pieces than the UPB, and a lot larger pieces. I was working on them all day. I plan to run up to my sewing room shortly, to work on it again for a bit, then the girls and I have to go to town (story of our lives) for a few groceries and misc. items.

Then I plan to come home and work on the backpack again... I want to have it as finished as I can before the girls and I leave for the weekend - the more I can get done, the less I have that spills over into next week. I seriously doubt I will finish it before the weekend - but that's my goal! ;)

I hope everyone has a fabulous day today!

D~

Good luck on getting it done, or at least most of it, so that you can enjoy your weekend without it hanging over your head!

hope you can get a bunch done today so you can enjoy the weekend with the girls!

D~ I hope you have an AMAZING TIME with your friend, I love that you get to have a weekend with her! :goodvibes LOVED the vintage photos!!!

Thanks everyone!!!

Just a super quick drive-by post. I have so much to get done this morning before the girls and I leave!

I managed to get a lot more done on the backpack yesterday - I am starting to get more excited about putting it all together. I just hope that everyone likes it. Putting it together is going to be the biggest task - and the drawstring part is going to be interesting too. :thumbsup2 I have it all figured out in my head - but whether or not my head jives with the real world is a TOTALLY DIFFERENT STORY. popcorn::

And, as a side note... I had a semi-serious talk with Josh last night. I told him that I really want to take the girls back to Disney. I pleaded my case - and I told him - we only have 4 years left... That's it. Then they are off to live their own lives, and leave their poor momma and dad in the dust. He said "OK"! So, I am still not 100% sure - but I think that's permission? Right?

Soooo.... After I clarify if this is actually *permission*... Then I need to choose some dates.

First off - I have 2 options. The first one would be Spring Break 2013, the girls are out of school from March 7-17. Despite it being so busy last year, the girls and I really enjoyed ourselves. My only issue, is in 2013 - Easter is early... So, it could be even busier.

Our other option would be anytime over summer break. The girls get out of school on June 10th. I would want to go as early in summer break as we could go. So that's another possability. Has anyone ever been in June? How are the crowds? Is the heat unbearable?

The calendar for the following school year (fall 2013 and beyond) won't be out until school starts this year. But I'd really like to go earlier than that.

I would love some opinions please... It will give you all something to do while I am gone this weekend. :wizard:

Oh, and lastly... I think we are definately going to do the water parks and PH ticket option this time... Sandy's pictures of BB really got me in the mood for a water park!

Have a great weekend everyone... And I am uploading my next round of Then n' Nows - hopefully I will get them on here before I leave today.

D~

I have been in early June (1st week) and lots of times in late July early August. Yes it is hot/humid. But, we are always at rope drop and then leave the parks no later than 1 for swim/afternoon nap time at the hotel. Then head back to the parks after 5...it makes it much more bearable. Also, drink lots of water! I try to take in a bottle of water an hour during that time...it helps a lot! We LOVE Typhoon Lagoon! My DS loves all the slides and the wave pool is awesome...and I LOVE the lazy river. A small word of caution...the waves in the wave pool are strong...so strong that only being in knee high water, it still knocked me down and drug me a few feet...not one of my proudest moments:rotfl2:. I would avoid Easter week...it will be worse crowd wise.

Have fun this weekend!
Lynn

I still vote for May. :lmao:

If you can handle the crowds, then totally go for Spring Break and/or June. We've been first week of June, and crowds were MUCH more manageable than our March trip. :thumbsup2

Plus, it sounds like permission to me. :rolleyes1 Granted, I'd take a grunt as permission to book another trip. :lmao::rotfl2:

DS is sitting on my lap. He saw your signature icons and shouted, "Donald purses! I see Donald purses!"

Also ... remember how unpredictable the weather is early March. What if it's cold again? Would you have as much fun at the WPs if it's cold and moving from one slide to the next wet? We went to the WPs in April ... it was MISERABLE. But some people have higher tolerances than me ... and you could get lucky and have great weather on your planned days. :thumbsup2

Given your two choices if it were me I would go with the Spring Break, Yes the crowds might be a tad bit on the insanely busy side but the weather will be nearer perfect than in June when the H&H will drain the life out of you and it will still be busy.

We went late March in 2009 2 weeks before Easter and it was busy but we could not have asked for nicer weather, had we planned a little better I do not think we would have minded the crowds at all. That being said we use to go Easter week every year for about 6 years in a row when my youngest was in school.

I'd take that "OK" as permission :thumbsup2 and you right about the time you have left, once they graduate, time with their mama's will be limited :sad1::sad1::sad1:...note looking forward to that either....
well my first vote would be Thanksgiving 2013 when we are there, but I know you don't want to take the girls out....so second vote is for spring break! I could never do WDW during the summer heat and humidity, standing in the lines for rides would be unbearable....been to DLR during spring break/Easter week lots of times, yes its busy, but you just choose what's the most important to do, anything else is frosting on the cake!

happy you got so much done with your bag, you know its going to turn out great!
have a great time this weekend :goodvibes:goodvibes

okay here is my opinion. The okay is permission :)

Anyweek at Disney is a good week.

I am pretty much stuck to school vacations. This year we went for our spring break which included Easter and are going next year the same time which will be late March.

I found the crowds not to bad.way better than Christmas week. I think that has to do with Spring breaks being more staggered.

I have gone to Disney in both July and August. Yes it is hot, yes it is humid. Remember Rope drop is your friend. Afternoon naps and the pool are your friend and evenings in the parks are fun.

I would definately get park hoppers because you could always hit a different park if the one you were in was too crowded.

Good luck with what you decide.
