Yay!
I had this happen with a male cousin once before and things are still not right between us, though we are on speaking terms again. I feel for you! So sad they feel like they should get something for nothing just because you are related. Sorry
Wow! On those MM then and now pics....can't believe how much he has grown!
Thanks Suzi... I agree - family is just so frustrating. Someday, I'd really love to give him a piece of my mind - but he has been going through a lot lately, so I decided that this wasn't the time. But let me tell you - I've had the conversation all worked out in my head for 3 years now.
I hate storms and tornados freak me out.
I can't wait to see your new bag D.
I agree... I was in a tornado when I was 5, it was a pretty bad one - so that scarred me for life. Then I was in another one with Rufus in 2008 - that one was worse, because the girls were enroute home and had to take shelter in a stranger's home. But now that our house has survived a tornado (it was only an F1) - I feel a bit safer here during storms.
Hope you are making great progress on your next bag. It's so frustrating when you are out of something you need and have to make a special trip to get it!
hope you are making great progress on your next bag because I am so excited to see your backpack prototype.
happy sewing!
Sunshine
LOL the backpack prototype is really a much slower process than I wanted it to be... There are a lot more pieces to quilt and the pieces are bigger than the UPB, and that takes soooo much time. I really wanted to finish be the weekend (the girls and I are going out of town), but I can almost guarantee that isn't going to happen.
From Wikipedia:
Rhubarb is usually considered to be a vegetable; however, in the United States, a New York court decided in 1947 that since it was used in the United States as a fruit, it was to be counted as a fruit for the purposes of regulations and duties. A side effect was a reduction on imported rhubarb tariffs, as tariffs were higher for vegetables than fruits.
So, does rhubarb cake count as a vegetable or fruit serving

I've heard of rhubarb pie, but cake
Oooh - I always considered it a fruit... and we all just lOVE it in our house.
Rhubarb Cake recipe (soooo bad for you)
Preheat oven to 350°
Bake for 55 minutes
1 yellow cake mix
4 Cups Rhubarb
1 small carton of heavy whipping cream
1 cup sugar
Mix yellow cake mix according to directions and pour into greased 9x13 pan. Sprinkle Rhubarb evenly on top.
Sprinkle Sugar evenly on top of rhubarb.
Pour whipping cream evenly over the top of the whole thing.
Bake.
Must be served with vanilla icecream. And any leftovers must be covered and refrigerated.
Enjoy - it is mine and Josh's ultimate favorite dessert. If you are interested in the Nutrition information (not including icecream) :

Love the stitch bag. That detail on the zipper is awesome!
Thanks Stephanie!

I loved the detail on the zipper too!

it D~....especially the tushie part think that's my favorite part! the colors and fabrics are great!
Thanks - I loved the tushie too (I even love the word "tushie")... But tushies are often really hard to do, because it's not often that you can find the tushie of a character anywhere. LOL
Thanks Ruth!
Great job on the stitch bag!
I'm in the group of people who are chicken in storms too!
Thanks... Yah - I am horrible with storms. Give me a nice morning thunderstorm and I love them - give me a severe thunderstorm and I am a wreck!
That's a nice bag. I really like the colors you have used
Thanks Lillian!
Aw, Stitch came out cute! I think the pocket fabric really ties it all together too.
So this got me thinking (and sorry if I'm being too much of a nosy-Nellie) but what ever became of the bag that V was working on for her godmother's (or was it aunt's?) birthday?
Sunshine
Thanks Sunny...
Oh yes, V's Aunt/Godmother's bag (you were right - technically she is both)... Well, it's a work in progress yet. I have been so BUSY that I haven't had the time to show her how to assemble it. I told her, if she helps me quilt the backpack, that I could probably find the time to help her with the bag - I am just soooo far behind. Bad momma - I know - bribery is never the answer.
Thanks Suzi!
Love the Stitch bag! The back of the bag made me chuckle. I think you did a good match to Lilo's dress! What color is the thread for the quilting?
The Dumbo bag is still my favorite though!
Thanks Tink!

The thead I used for quilting is red.
Holy cow, I can see where that one would have been difficult to pull together in your creative mind...you did a BRILLIANT job of it. Another great bag!
Awww... Thanks Oopsi!
OH EMM GEE now you gone an done it...Stitch is my favorite character and I am coveting this bag. you made me break a commandment
This is too adorable for words.
LOL - I would never "make" someone break a commandment... I am glad you love the bag!
LOVE IT!!! Very cute!!! I love how well the red and blue just seem to work. Another great bag!!
Thanks Sandra! I was actually perusing the fabric selection out there for your bag last night...
So have I told you that Stitch is my second favorite character???
That bag is AWESOME!!!
Lynn
LOL Thanks Lynn!
So cute. Almost makes me want to change my order but not quite. lol So talented!
LOL Wendy... Thanks!

I just love it and I love how your customers are continually challenging you but you come through each time with these amazing creations
Thanks Michelle!
One. More. Day. I am super excited for you!!!!

You'll have to let me know if you see any of my bags in the parks - I know there is one down there right now for sure.
How adorable! I love the fact that Stitch is sideways.
LOL Thanks... yah - I don't always like to do things the conventional way.
Love the bag, super cute! The inside is wonderful!
The storms hit my neck of the woods at 4:00AM. I woke up the the loud hail. I thought the window was going to break. Of course DH woke up about 5 minutes before me and was out in the living room watching the storm. I made sure to mention that he abandoned me!
Oh no, I am glad you are ok. Shame on DH for abandoning you. If it makes you feel any better, I abandoned DH yesterday morning... He gets irritated when I freak out during storms - it's often times better just to let him sleep - especially at 4 am.
I LOVE IT!!! I just wish I had been online the last 2 days to be one of the first to see it. I so rarely miss a day of checking the board, and the day I do, you finished MY bag! Can't wait to see it in person. Showed my DH the pics and he told me I should find a dress in the Lilo pattern to really show it off.
I am sorry it was hard to get the initial ideas put together, but it does look pretty cool.
I am so sorry that you didn't get to see it first - If you would have requested that, I would have waited to post it to the board until you'd seen it. I am really sorry.
I am so glad you love your bag! That is always so nerve wracking for me.
I agree - I think you need a Lilo dress to go with it - at least a wrap skirt or something. LMK if you decide to do that - I would be happy to give you the name of that interior fabric so you could coordinate it.
That's great that this is your bag!! It looks amazing! So hopefully we can get together again sometime in the future and I can see it in person!! I've got my order in too but mine won't be done until near the end of October!
That would be awesome if you could see it in person!
OK - yesterday was plain ol' crazy for me... I woke at 4 am to the sirens blaring again... So, I got up - got the girls up, so they were at least on the main level of the house (I let Josh sleep - however - I did wake him to tell him that the sirens were sounding, I left it up to him whether he wanted to get out of bed or not). I quickly signed online to load the radar, and it was quite the mess. It wasn't about 10 minutes and we had a raging storm outside. Now, it wasn't too horrible here - but the rain was so heavy that I couldn't see our cars parked in the driveway. We lost power, and it was out for about 2 hours. Sigh - I had so much to do yesterday that required the use of power... I could have hand cranked Patience - but that's rough for bigger projects.
Finally the power came back on - I guess we were lucky. When Josh and I went to town later in the day - on the road that runs parallel to ours 1 mile to the West - there were power lines down for MILES... A barn was demolished and several trees broken off/uprooted. In their defense, though, we have had a LOT of rain over the last week+ and the ground is very saturated, so it doesn't take much to topple trees.
Thankfully, as far as I know, no one was hurt.
I've also been battling a stomach bug the last 2 days. It's very bizarre, and I am not sure if it is something I'd eaten, or if it was because I just started taking vitamin B6, or if it is truly a bug. But it's been very annoying. It doesn't hurt all the time - only after I eat for about an hour or 2... Then I fool myself into "I am feeling better and I am hungry", so I eat and I don't feel good again. Grrr... I haven't eaten anything yet this morning - but I have had my coffee, and my stomach seems to be OK. So, hopefully I am over whatever it was. However - just in case - I am going to hold off on that vitamin B6 for a few days.
I have to work today - so no sewing room. Which leaves me only Thursday and Friday to finish my prototype backpack - otherwise it will drift over into next week. Sigh.
I hope everyone has a wonderful day today!
D~
