HEEELLLPPP!!! It feels like it's going to fall off. I had no idea the tea what just short of boiling. I burned my lips also when I spit it out. I look like Angelina Jolie, but not in a good way. What can I do to stop the pain????

Eegads! Yuck, I hate that feeling.

Chew a couple aspirin - for real. Straight up asprin, too. Not ibuprofen, or tylenol.... aspirin.

I think take some advil and just wait it out...that's what I did when I burned my toungue the same way last week--it sucks!

I'd be running to 7-11 for a Slurpee, but that's me. Maybe some aloe vera juice or some of the cloraseptic sore throat spray with the numbing medicine??
My sympathies, that's gotta hurt!

No advice but - OUCH!!! I hate when that happens..

Feel better soon..

I don't have any regular aspirin. I took some advil and I had some Chloraseptic in the cupboard, so I sprayed it on. I still hurts so bad my teeth ache.

Make a paste of mylanta, and oragel or chloraseptic, and liquid tylenol. Coat your tongue w/ it.

Put regular granulated sugar on your tongue. Let the saliva mix and melt with it a bit on the tongue. It acts as an instant salve to heal the burn. Do this a few times on the burned section, it will burn less & less each time, until you almost don't feel the burn any more.

put COLD aloe vera gel on your lips(out of the refridgerator) would be my best guess
sorry about your tongue, I don't know what would help that

ouch

How long do you hold it in your mouth? I just did it and almost gagged. My husband was cracking up.

Just sprinkle a little on, let it mix with some saliva and melt with it a bit on the tongue like if you were a kid, interested in eating sugar as candy. You don't have to eat a lot at once.

What I do is pour a little in the palm of my hand- like half a teaspoon, then kind of lick it off my palm. Stick my tongue out for about 10 seconds, while it mixes with some saliva. It's the activating with the saliva that does the trick.

Yes, it looks stupid, but you'll feel a lot better. ( You can kill DH later. ;) )

All the home remedies for burns... love it and am SO glad I'm not you OP trying to figure out which one to use.

Personally, I'd just suck on ice until it feels better.

But vinegar mixed with water will cool sunburns, so why wouldn't it help a tongue burn?

Ouch and ouch again! When I had mouth surgery, they told me the mouth heals really fast because of all the blood supply to it. So, I hope you heal quickly.

Doesnt sound yukky to me, but I like sugar :goodvibes

Hope your mouth feels better! I've done that on a couple occassions :scared:

After you recover find a good lawyer and sue yourself.:duck:

Hope everything is ok.

It actually still hurts today. I can't eat, which for me is a fate worse than death. I tried many of the remedies last night. The sugar sounded so simple, but it really helped a lot.

I have a funny story that I hope will put a smile on your face. My DH and I went out to dinner alone, a couple of years ago. We went to a Mexican rest. that was new in town. I burned my tounge and the sides of my mouth on the appetizer. A bit painful but I was ok. For the entree I ordered my favorite 'camerones el diabla'. I am pretty adventurous with the spice. Well this resturant used only habaneros in their sauce. The dish was pretty tasty but after about 5 minutes (yes it took that long) it started to really heat up. The bad thing was, it tasted so good I put up with the heat as long as I could. By the time the check came I thought I was going to die. My whole mouth and throat were in pain and my face started to turn red with spots. After a few hours it seemed a bit better. Since the kids were gone to grandparents... (no details needed but this is an important part of the story).

Flash forward to 3 days later. I was at the doctor for my yearly. He looked down my throat and said he thinks there may be a problem. He asked if I was sick. He asked if either myself or my DH thinks we could have and kind of STD. I was panicked. He told me that he wanted to take a culture sample because my throat was covered in sores that were staring to get infected. When I told him what happened he started laughing and even called the other nurse in to tell her. Good thing I have been seeing my dr for years and we can laugh about this. Talk about emarassing.

I suffered a bad burn on the side of my tongue years ago, and my dentist recommended using a product called Gly-Oxide to help heel it.

It's available over the counter and will prevent infection.

I felt bad for you that it still hurts today - and is interfering with your ability to eat.. Did you try our friend "google"? Maybe you could find some home remedies there that haven't already been passed on to you - or some info on OTC products..

My tongue hurts every time I think of you.. :(

Feel better soon!
