:listen: :listen: Just heard last night that Disney and McDonalds are cutting all ties with each other.!!This will probably mean no more Disney toys in happy meals, apparently the reason is they do not want to be associated with childhood obesity. I was amazed knowing that McD's now are healthier than the once were and it will be curious to see what happens to the theme park outlets that serve their food!! :listen: :listen: Waiting to see what more developes from this change

very interesting - thank goodness my DD's are too old for happy meals now, but it was always the toy they wanted, not the food

Perhaps the parks will now have better counter service choices. Up 'til now there's been far too much in the way of burger and fries.

Well done, Disney, for making a stand.

yes, lets hope we can get some good sandwiches, jacket potatos etc, that would be far better

Never used them, so can't say I will miss them. Perhaps now the way forward will be for healthier counter service choices :)

I am not entirely sure that is the case, but I will find out for you the real story!

I know that Mcdonalds had a 10 year contract with Disney, and that has probably now come to an end.

I dont think that they have "severed all ties" with Disney as McD had their annual conference thing there last week.

My brother is the Vice President of McD UK and usually keeps me up to date!

Disney is the only place I eat McDonalds and I must admit I did enjoy their fries.

Apparently the BBC are reporting that Disney & McDonalds have stated that this is nothing to do with childhood obesity. Curiouser and curiouser.

oops correction... they did not have their annual conference at Disney last week.. they went to the hard rock hotel and Universal!

My daughter does not eat Mcdonalds at all, if she wants a toy from the happy meal I buy of ebay for her.

This is correct they said it will be a case by case basis now instead of the 10 year agreement. This McD's can do others and Disney can do BK if they want when movies are to close to get into 1 location.

The artical in another post stated it has no effect on the food and other things in the parks.

Not a great surprise really. I remember a few years ago (so probably about 7/8 years into this 10 year deal) I read an article on Jim Hill's website (http://www.jimhillmedia.com) that they weren't going to continue the deal as they felt it was too restrictive on both parties, but instead they'd do things on a case by case basis.

Under the old deal, McD's had to promote EVERY Disney movie with a Happy Meal toy, even if it wasn't one they were keen on, plus on the flip side, Disney couldn't do any one-off deals with other food companies without clearing it with McD's first.

Will be interesting to see what family and child friendly alternatives the come up with :thumbsup2 I think it will be better for the health of the visitors to the parks but not sure how it will affect the McD outlets here ;) I realise it is a quick place to grab some food in a rush but there are so many other places with healthy food now :thumbsup2 :thumbsup2 I can only guess as to the split, yes I know the contract had come to it's end but can't believe that Disney don't want the shared revenue from products sold at McDs it must have been very good for them financially or the whole deal would never have gone ahead----or is this part of the shake up of the new board members???? :listen: :listen: OK rant over sorry everyone
