I noticed several new rumors posted this morning on the wdwrumors facebook site talking about the Jammin Jungle Parade going away in October, a possible Main Street Electrical Parade refurb or redo, and a new fireworks show in the design phase at Magic Kingdom! :thumbsup2

Not sure how I feel about the parades all disappearing, but I'm exciting about some of the recent announcements and rumors all relating to big things or plans for these types of entertainment. Hopefully this means bigger and better things down the road! What do you all think?

I really hate that they are getting rid of the parades :/ seems like it is becoming the 'norm'. We <3 the parades they are one of the highlights of our trip.

same here... while they were a little stale in my opinion, my little girl loved them and we always lined up early to get a good spot to view. oh well... let's just hope this a small price to pay for bigger better things to come?

The parades are a must! Getting rid of the parades is a deal breaker for us - we can go to Universal if we just want rides!:headache:

Did they mean that "the Animal Kingdom Parade" is going away or specifically the "Jammin' Jungle Parade"? Perhaps they just mean that specific parade is ending to be replaced by a new parade

the rumor I think said Jammin Jungle Parade... not sure what that means for the Jingle Jungle one... they have a website and a facebook page... I won't post the link (just in case I'm not allowed to) but you should check it out... I like the format on the website especially and then the facebook page allows me to see things as soon as they post them

Don't assume that if a parade is going away that it won't be replaced.

This is a very normal aspect of the park operations, and refreshing and replacing is good for business.

true but there have been no rumors at all about a DHS or DAK parade replacement... ya never know, but with this message board, the DisUnplugged, and other good news places... you'd think something would leaked. who knows

Since the point of the parade is to draw visitors away from attractions, I don't expect any of the parks to go without parades for very long.

Hmmm -
But do they also draw us away from:
:shopping?
:spending money on food?

We love the parades... This stinks. (Although, I have photos from JJP from years gone by; maybe time for a new one?)

I doubt it has a huge impact on food concessions. Plenty of people sit and watch the parade with food in hand, and several of the eateries have a good parade view.

As far as shopping, I imagine there are a core of shoppers that target their shopping during the parade, much like plenty of people target rides during the parades.

The parades aren't meant to stop the flow at any of these (food, shopping, attractions), they are simply meant to slow them down a bit and make the lines more manageable.

To my way of thinking, the parades provide more benefit for guest management than any drawback that might exist.

I would say this is all about cost

Perhaps, but the cost of maintaining an existing parade is actually very low against the benefit they get from running it.

Where the cost/benefit analysis comes back into play is when a parade is aging enough that too many people are skipping it, which is why MK has a plan to replace it's day parade. Huge investment, but it keeps people paying attention to the parade.

I'm just a speculator like everyone else here, but IMHO, Disney gets far more benefit out of running the (successful) parades than the cost associated with creating and running them.

I will say that if parades interfere with construction, or construction inhibits a parade, you might see a time where they disappear. Park construction trumps just about everything, I would think.

This would only be temporary, though.

What is the rumor about a new fireworks show? I'm not sure what I would do without Wishes!

There have been murmurs of Wishes! being replaced for a few years now. The most promising rumor I've heard of is a nightly fireworks show that combines the fireworks ala' wishes, and the Castle projection show ala Magic,Memories, And You and Celebrate the Magic.

Wishes has been around for a LONG time now, and so it seems almost like a no-brainer for Disney to be working on a replacement which can take advantage of the "plus'ing" that the Castle Projection Tech could provide.

I feel this might very well be the case with the AK parade as well. With the construction happening for the rumored new FotLK stage and guest access, I could see the parade being impacted.

It's the same with the rumored cause of the MGM parade's cancelation due to the backstage work being done.

One thing about the parade at DHS was its rumored or be replaced soon with the Pixar play parade or something similar so I think that would be cool. But I also hate how they're getting rid of parades they are definite must.

Equally don't assume that it will be replaced.

Several parades in various Disney parks recently have not been replaced.

It may not even be for an obvious reason. But I do think there is an agenda to reduce the number of parades. Maybe its purely about reducing CM's? Maybe its because there is no clear direct revenue benefit from them for the accountants to track unlike say rides where there are at least the "exit through the gift shops" revenue.

It appears almost all aspects of the resorts are being examined to see how they can attach additional revenue to them. Maybe it has got to the point where they cant find additional revenue then that aspect gets reviewed to whether it can be dropped.

Maybe they need to figure out something like the 'Glow With the Show' Ears to go with the daytime parades!?

My personal view though is that it would be a big mistake to drop the parades from either DHS or DAK. The parades at both those add structure to peoples days there and force them to linger around in the parks currently. Take away the parades and people will go in, do the rides they want and leave, possibly spending several hours of the day there.

I try not to assume anything, but common wisdom that I've seen on the web is that park parades enhance their bottom line rather than detracting from it.

I haven't followed everything for long enough to know what parades might have never been replaced. My impression is that there has always been one day parade or another, and that some variation of MSEP has been running for ages.

I have read about glow with the show, but I wasn't aware that it is being used in WDW at all.
