Several new rumors - DAK parade, MSEP, and a new fireworks show at MK?

I haven't followed everything for long enough to know what parades might have never been replaced. My impression is that there has always been one day parade or another, and that some variation of MSEP has been running for ages.

Both Disneyland and DLRP have lost their night time parades I believe. Both of those had their parades for "ages" as well....

I do not for one minute think that MK will lose their day parade. DHS and DAK though... maybe.

I have read about glow with the show, but I wasn't aware that it is being used in WDW at all.

Its not used at WDW yet.... Maybe it never will be. Although as its in Disneyland and soon to be in DLRP as well, it seems they're trying to spread the use of the tech, especially because of that extra revenue. I'd actually love to see some numbers on how glow with the show affects the costs of WoC and projected impact on Disney Dreams. At a guess I'd say its lowing the nightly costs of the shows by well into double digit percentages. So that gives them a substantially cheaper night time show which still serves its primary objective of keeping people in the parks right up until park closing time. All of which obviously without the cost and liabilities of those considerable number of CM's needed for the old night time parades.

There have been murmurs of Wishes! being replaced for a few years now. The most promising rumor I've heard of is a nightly fireworks show that combines the fireworks ala' wishes, and the Castle projection show ala Magic,Memories, And You and Celebrate the Magic.

Wishes has been around for a LONG time now, and so it seems almost like a no-brainer for Disney to be working on a replacement which can take advantage of the "plus'ing" that the Castle Projection Tech could provide.



I feel this might very well be the case with the AK parade as well. With the construction happening for the rumored new FotLK stage and guest access, I could see the parade being impacted.

It's the same with the rumored cause of the MGM parade's cancelation due to the backstage work being done.

I would be really bummed BUT having come from DL Paris most recently and seeing what they can do with the projections, I have to look forward to it as well! It was a really impressive night show.

It's kind of sad now that DAK will have no parade and as always, no night time spectacular. :/ hopefully there will be a new parade.

As for Wishes!, I'm sure there is a new show in the near future. Wishes has been running for what - 8, 9 years?
Maybe a revamped song and performance is on the horizon? still keep it as Wishes? It's already amazing, but Disney can do even better nowadays

Any fireworks show in MK had better be amazing if its taking over for Wishes. I don't know how I feel about it. I love Wishes! I'd be so sad if it weren't there, but I know they have to update it eventually.

I'd be surprised if the parades disappeared from DAK and DHS and didn't come back. I have nothing to go on, but it seems like a temporary measure. The parades seem somewhat integral to crowd control and overall satisfaction. During heavy crowd times (which seems to be more and more the norm) they give people something to experience or do while the rides are backed up. I think they *need* them.
Now, that's not to say they won't do away with them.. Disney often surprises me with some of their decisions. But if you took away the parades I think people would be rightfully angry.

I find it hard to believe that any parades will be cut as we move into the MyMagic+ era.

These are simple venues to absorb thousands of FP+ slots a day.

And this exactly how parades can be monetized. The sky is the limit in the future with the FP +. If people are only given three per day, they will crave more! They will buy them.

At DAK, someone could book an Expedition Everest, safari, and a character meet and greet. Then decide maybe they will buy another round on a primo spot for the brand new parade.

Even then, they could have bought another one for nemo, skip the line lunch at pizzafari, and I would consider using one for primeval whirl on a crowded day.

Think about how valuable these things will be at DHS. Everyone will want the headliners, Fantasmic will be popular, and a prime spot for a parade would be worth purchasing.

Especially if the magicbands add another dimension to the personalized experience in the reserved areas.

The parades will be very important for FP+.

Am I the only person who doesn't like Wishes? I feel like its way too much dialogue and a little cheesy. But my fondest memories of the fireworks are from the 90s when they really weren't anything more than the national anthem playing while fireworks went off.

It seems that everyone else likes Wishes, which is great, because then I can get my shopping done during that time

I feel the same way about Illuminations. It really does nothing for me.

A new fireworks show at MK would make a lot of sense. Wishes has been around for a long time and I think it's time for some change. I like wishes and all but after going back again and again I could use some change. One thing disney should do with a new "wishes" should add some new aspects definitely keep the same amount of fireworks but add some different projections and maybe take away tinker bell or change how tinker bell is incorporated into the show. That's all I ask of a new show not a complete change but add some new exciting aspects.

well...considering the DHS parade pretty much ended quickly without anything much in the rumor mill, and no one knows why (officially), with the AK parade being a little stale as well... it could be next. who knows

I understand that, but some of the response are like "Oh, I'm really going to miss that parade." which makes it sound like people are believing its going. That's why I was wondering if I was missing something.

In MY opinion, I really like the DAK parade, both the regular one and the Christmas overlay. I think the biggest problem at DAK is the parade route being narrow and not great for viewing the parade, but really they seem to have created a parade that handles that as well as possilbe. I love the Julie Taymor designed stuff (she also designed the Broadway Lion King show). I hope that the rumor is false. The DHS parade never did anything for me, in fact I can't say DHS has had a great parade in the 7 years we've been there to see them, though the first incaration - Stars & Motor Cars was sort of neat, at least fitting with the hollywood theme.

I thought the standing theory was that once the RFID tech was installed the parade was found to interfere with it and had to be cancelled. Considering that I believe the parades do have a definate positive effect on their bottom line (not only drawing crowds away from other attractions but how many ice cream bars, hats, drinks, spray fans, glow toys and misc shopping gets done while people are waiting, there's a reason the parades always run right through the main shopping area of the park) I believe they're probobly rushing to get a replacement in. The parades are relatively low cost once produced for a decent return on investment.

I agree I've heard a lot about working with parades to create them so they don't interfere with the RFID technology. I also do believe they are working on bringing a new parade to DHS whether its an old parade brought back or a new one.

Has anyone heard anything about the "RFID issue" being the parade problem from other than a post here (or as a repost from another board?)

That is, that RFID is blamed as the "issue" for some/all of these parades being cancelled doesn't necessarily pass the technical sniff test as some have posted here. Just trying to weed out the wheat from the chaff, that's all, and I"m not sure what constitutes having heard "a lot" about "the RFID issue" isn't really one post from one source somewhere that just keeps getting repeated.

The other rumored reason is backstage construction between the parade storage building and the parade exit near the front of the park.
