Nice leisurely morning, Jack's antibiotics and painkillers are starting to have an effect and he feels a little more human this morning. We wander up to the Artist Palette for some breakfast. Three bounty platters - very nice, freshly cooked. Jack subs extra sausages for eggs.
Back in the room we pack a small bag for our two night stay at Hard Rock hotel. Exceptionally excited we pack appropriate clothing (rock band and Hard Rock t-shirts
)
We let reception know that we shall be away for two nights and that housekeeping can have a break from tidying and cleaning out room.
For old times' sake we drive to Universal via I. Drive. I miss the turning for US and end up in the new outlets at the top end!!
Backtracking we find Kirkman Drive and drive up to the Hard Rock hotel. Check in is a breeze and we are very surprised to find that our room is ready (its only 10.30), we were expecting to not be in before 2 or 3 o'clock.
Whilst I'm checking in Paulet and Jack have a wander around taking a few pics.
Paulet is very impressed with the Ladies restrooms !!
We have a pool view room (3130) It's up to Hard rock's usual standard. spotlessly clean and very well appointed.
The view from room 3130
We only have temporary Express Pass tickets as the machines in reception were down, clutching these we hurry off to universal Studios via the boat transport.
We get into the Studios and see a huge queue for Depsicable Me and decided to jump onto Shrek 4D with just a 10 minute wait for the next show. We set off anti-clockwise and next up is Terminator 2 3D, which is a walk on even without express passes. I still love this show, old though it is!
As we exit we see the new Springfield USA area, it's a riot of colour and visually screams at you !
On DD's recomendation we head straight for Lard Lad donuts
OMG !!!! How tasty are these things! Jack has a 'Brain freezin' D'oh-Nut Sundae ($6.59) and Paulet and I share a 'Big Pink' ($4.99)
This pic doesn't do this monster justice - it's the size of my head !!!!!!! We found out later that towards closing time you can usually get a buy one get one free offer on them
Next up is the Simpsons ride. We spot the only remnant of the orginal Back to the Future area
Paulet and Jack head onto the Simpsons ride but I decline as me and simulators do not get on at all !
Men In Black follows straight after. Another walk on using the Express pass. I love this ride (but not the compulsory locker storage before) The ride itself is great and is as good as I remember. We try to grab a pic of our ride photo but they now stop you doing this by putting writing on the screen over the photo.
