Today was supposed to be a water park morning, but the weather forecast was still a little on the poor side after yesterday evening's storms. As we had to curtail our shopping day earlier in the holiday we decided to have a morning away from the parks and head up to the Mall at Millenia. We left SSR without eating breakfast and so drove up via I-drive to find an IHOP. Paulet and i had platters whilst Jack had a plate of pancakes (which he had been hankering after for ages)
I have become more and more disillusioned about I-drive and think it now just looks very cheap and tacky. The view from the IHOP sums it up I think,
Breakfast was very nice and service efficient and friendly. Paulet said she wanted to pop into the shop pictured above. Jack and I refused and sat in the car! Paulet re-appeared 30 seconds later claiming the shop was horrendous! Nuff said
Five minutes later we were at the Mall at Millenia. We spent 3 or 4 hours browsing and shopping. Jack bought a pair of Beats Studio headphones. Paulet had been after a Michael Korrs handbag ever since DD bought one last May. We had a look in Macy's and then briefly in the Michael Korrs shop. Macy's had a larger selection and also offered a 10% discount to overseas shoppers whereas the MK shop offered no discounts. As we were looking at the handbags we started chatting to another English couple. The lady asked Paulet if she was buying today because if we could wait til Sunday Macy's were then offering 20% off. Unfortunately we were due to fly home Saturday ! The lady then produced a Macy's charity pin she had bought on Columbus day and said that we could borrow it, as if you produced this at the till you were entitled to 20% discount on all purchases! What a lovely gesture! Paulet used it to buy a Michael Korrs handbag, purse and a watch too!
We were going to stay for lunch but we had an early dinner booked at Magic Kingdom so we made our way back to the hotel. The drive back was so much quicker using the I4 all the way back down to Disney.
We left the car at the hotel and jumped the bus to MK (only a 30 second wait!)
The weather had improved greatly so we used the time to grab a few more pics around the castle.
Paulet can pose for pics til the cows come home but as you can see Jack and I can get bored easily LOL
We used a FP for Thunder Mountain again. The regular queue was 45 minutes which shows the benefit of riding without FP early in the day.
I really fancied a cup of tea so we backtracked to Main St Starbucks for tea, lemon cake and blueberry scones! Now I don't particularly like the Main St bakery being a starbucks but what really annoys me is the lack of seating!
We remembered a quiet little alley half way down Main St, and despite it being very busy everywhere, once again it was a lovely quiet peaceful place to sit. We listened to the 'Voice and singing private lessons' going on above.
You can spot the open window where the lesson are held! A lovely Disney touch which also happens in Disneyland Paris too.
Next up was a FP for Peter Pan. Jack and I rode together and let Paulet ride on her own. As we predicted she got off with tears in her eyes!!! Its one of her favoutite rides in Disney!
As we came out there was no queue for Philharmagic so we watched this again.
A quick browse around some shops and it was time for a dinner.
Another pic Paulet puts up on FB as her Jack and hubby !
We were sat in the Rose Gallery.
Jack and I have the Grilled Strip Steak whilst Paulet has the Braised Pork (coq-au-vin)
Main courses were very nice and accompanied by a beer for me and Jack and a soft drink for Paulet.
The dessert trolley looked gorgeous
Try the Grey Stuff, it's delicious. Don't believe me, ask the Mrs !!!!!!!!!!
Paulet loved it !!!!!!!!
We had a meet with the Beast on the way out
Paulet and the beast had a private joke I think !!!!
We walked out through the castle and had a look around at the ride times, eventually plumping for Buzz Lightyear with a posted 30 minute wait, which was actually only 15 minutes!
Time for a couple of night time shots
We bought some Haunted Mansion ornaments and then staked out a spot for the Electrical Parade. Quite disappointed in this. We didn't really enjoy it 10 years ago and it hasn't changed a bit since!
We wandered a little further up main st to watch the castle projection show which is wonderful and then the highlight of the day - Wishes! Just as amazing and fabulous as always!
We made our way out of the park with the crowds and again had only a 30 second wait for the bus back to SSR. Grabbed some cold drinks from the Artist Palette before strolling back to the room.
