As promised, here are some photos of souvenirs that I picked up. I know Brandi will appreciate them.

While we were waiting for our room to be ready at Grand Californian, I had a look in the gift store and came across this beauty:

This is part of the new Dooney and Bourke Disneyland Retro collection, which was released May 12th. I had never been able to find an iPad case that I liked so I was all over this. Now my iPad has a very stylish home.

When I went exploring at Downtown Disney, I discovered this beauty. It was released for the inaugural Tinkerbell Half Marathon and they had some returns. I was in two minds about this as it is really a bit big for my taste, but it actually makes the perfect work bag.

...Souvenirs??!?! SOUVENIRS?????!!! They's iz some 'spensive souvenirs!
[....ummmm, next time, buy ME a souvenir too.....popcorn:: ;) ]

So excited! Just wanted to share....
We arrive this Saturday:goodvibes - it has been a looooongg year and we were struggling to make it all happen. The kiddos know we are going to Disney but have no idea we are staying at AKL! We were scheduled to stay at a Mod - but thanks to some MAJOR Pixie Dust :tink: we were able to secretly upgrade back to AKL. We are going to be mean, evil parents for a few moments when we arrive - Tell them we know they have always wanted to stay at AKL so we thought we would go there for dinner and check out the gift shop on our arrival night....:rolleyes1 - then when we are in the lobby and see their sad little faces:worried:..we are going to surprise them with the fact that they will be staying there for 9 days.:banana:.

That is pretty mean! Make sure you have the video camera rolling :)

Congratulations on your trip, glad you were able to make it work :)

We will be visiting Disney for the first time this fall (family of 3 - including DS, who will turn 4 during our trip).

We chose AKL as our resort. Visiting 9/26 - 10/2. Looks amazing - can't wait to see it in person!

First time trip, and a birthday one, and at AKL!!! That will be wonderful! :cool1:

Disney can be overwhelming for first timers, have you been researching? I highly recommend the Passporter. And of course feel free to ask any questions here if you'd like.

Great. I want to book the Sunrise Safari! Sadly it means I have to cancel my Sci Fi lunch, and looked at switching Sci Fi to a different day, and no avail. It's pretty popular.
This time I got smart, and booked lunch ADRs! Last CL stay at BC, I could never enjoy the appies cause we had dinner ADRs. So now, no dinner adrs! If we're hungry after appies, we can agument with CS.

Very excited- booked Sunrise Safari this morning for Aug trip! I booked it on our last full day, something special to end our trip with.

Excellent! Very nice ending to the trip. :)

I'd keep checking on the Sci Fi, people change plans all the time, you still could snag a reservation.

So it's official - we're going to try out AKV Kidani.

We're taking my in-laws for their first time Dec 3-15. We're booked in a 2BDR at BWV. so I was debating over whether the move would unnecessarily stress my MIL out. I was also concerned that we'd have to split to two regular rooms because no 2BDR Savannah views available this late. (I don't usually pay for an upgraded view but I'm not going to AKV for a view of the parking lots. ;))

But DH decided we should go for it, so I called to modify the reservation - and the CM shocked me with a 2BDR Savannah View. I must've asked her a dozen times if she was sure it was Savannah. But it is and we're going. We'll be there Dec 11-15. Can't wait! :cool1:

Congratulations!!! :cool1:

How exciting! I think you will love Kidani! I know I did. I"ve been having the same debate as well. I am taking my mom, dad, sister, and brother next October. I know they want to stay at AKL, but I don't know what building. I'm leaning more towards kidani, since I stayed in Jambo last month for 2 nights with my girlfriends before our cruise and we are staying at Jambo in December when I take my brother and sister.

Two trips in a year, you are quite the generous sibling! What kind of room(s) do you get? I'm taking my DB and SIL in September and had to get two rooms. And depending on how this goes we'll see if they I ever invite them again. Fingers are crossed it is a good trip.

We booked two of them. They only let us book two cruises. I still have not given up on a November cruise, but will look into this nearer the time.

Congratulations on booking the two :) But I wonder why they changed the booking policies? I though you could book as many as you wanted before, correct?

I will have to run some errands in a minute, but I will put some info about OKW together either later today or tomorrow.

We love the Old Turtle Pond Road area. We got a room in this area on our first stay and have requested this area ever since. They have the biggest of the quiet pools there with a pool bar. It is only open during busier times, but December should be OK for this.

Thank you so much. I finally found a map for it, and am surprised how big OKW is. A bit like SSR, but more relaxed, is the feeling I'm getting about it.

Very nice new Dooneys :)

It is all a question of interpretation. If you look at the initial outlay, then yes, it is a tad expensive for a souvenir. If you look at it from a cost per use perspective, then in becomes the bargain of the century. I am going to use both of those every single day. They were also both cheaper than I had expected.

I had not heard about a restriction previously either, but the most we have ever booked on a previous cruise was two further cruises. So I am not sure if this is a new rule or if the subject just was never raised. I am pretty happy with what I have booked though even though the onboard booking agent screwed one of them up. My travel agent managed to straighten most of it out, but we did lose the sideways cabin that we had booked for both cruises.

OKW and SSR are kind of similar and you assessment that OKW is more relaxed is absolutely right.

I'm going to but right into the middle of your conversation .... for my upcoming crazy split stay trip I'll be spending 4 nights at OKW so my question is do either of you know what type of music they play at the pool? The OKW thread isn't very active so I thought I'd ask here. Thanks! :thumbsup2

I have never actually used the main pool. We tend to stay in the Old Turtle Pond Road area and use the quiet pool there and as far as I can remember, there is no music there.

This is indeed a new rule as of very recently - you may book ONE future cruise with an OBB per cabin you have. Without OBB you can book as many as you like of course. :/ They change the amount of OBC as well, I think it is $200 across the board regardless of castaway status.

He told us that the maximum of cruises that we could book with the onboard offer was two so I wondered if it was one per person in the cabin as there is the two of us.

Can I borrow this and use this on my hubby? Don't think he will go for it or I just might make my whole family do :rotfl2:

On our trip last year hubby bought me a wristlit(a small one) and I only use it one special occasions;)
