We'll be staying at Old Key West in August. We haven't stayed there in a few years and I seem to remember a sand beach there (not for swimming). My husband says there is no beach there. Am I getting confused with Caribbean Beach? Does anyone know?

Thanks,
Susan

I don't recall a beach being at OKW.

No beach that I know of, there are sand play areas near the pools.

Maybe you are remembering the beach sand play area as a beach. Either that, or you are thinking of CBR, which does have a beach.

there is a ton of sand in the playarea - and it is close to the lagoon - so I bid that is what you are rememoring

The only DVC resort that I can think of with a sandy swim area is BCV.

There are a lot of big rocks along the Trumbo canal. But no sand. Except in the play area and in the sand traps on the golf course. Unless there is a water trap next to a sand trap. Voila!! A tiny beach.

VWL has a sandy no swim beach...which is something I can't figure...if I can go out in a mouseboat and go parasailing why can't I swim in the water?

GRRR I hate to help a husband be right, since the wife should always be right, but alas theres no beach at OKW.

I understand there is a parasite in the water that enters ears, or nose and can be deadly.

Sure OKW has a beach. It's right next to the pool slide.

But Doc fails to tell you that the beach is only a year old!

Actually - the slide is a year old (almost), but the beach has been there since the resort opened in 1991. The theming for the slide was made to compliment what was already there - in this case, the beach with the oversized sand toys. Here is a photo from before the slide was added.

There used to be a small beach by WL (haven't been there in years) - over by the bike rental. Of course, the parasite closed Disney beaches and River Country years ago - so its possible they've let it grow closed now.
