:rolleyes1We will be on the DDP; we're reading that some restaurant reviews contain negative comments about servers' attitudes when they are told the bill will be paid with the DDP? Have any of you experienced this? Why might it be?:confused3:

Nah, I haven't. Now back in the day, when the tip was included on the plan, I could see where they'd have rather had regular paying customers. Now I don't see why they would care one way or another - good service = good tip! I may have just gotten lucky so far, though. :confused3

Only once in about 20 different restaurants was anything negative said about the Disney Dining Plan. That was 2 years ago during Free Dining - and I believe that was the first Free Dining after they changed the plan to not include the tip. One waitress at Kona Cafe mentioned that she'd been stiffed about 50 times since Free Diners hadn't figured out that the tip was no longer included.

That was it...no attitudes, no changes in the way we are treated. We've pretty much had good service everywhere. About the worst we've had is waiting for the bill occasionally. But that has happened "outside" the World, too.

Last trip, I found that everyone who served us (at TS, QS, carts, whatever), was very nice and incredibly knowledgeable. We didn't have a single problem in 10 days.

I did have a few servers that mentioned that the tip isn't included, but they did it so matter-of-factly that it didn't feel at all weird. They just included it in their explanation of the bill (which is a teeny bit complicated). "This bill shows what's been charged to your dining plan, so check that and sign it if it's correct. This bill shows what isn't covered by the dining plan, the tip gets written here, you can pay this bill with cash, credit card, gift card, or charge to your room. This copy is for you, this copy is for me."

Yeah, I've never sensed any sort of attitude, and as far as I can remember all of our servers have been pretty friendly and helpful. I imagine a lot of people (free dining or not) may not tip appropriately when on the DDP...although I should hope that the suggestions on the bottom of the receipt might help remind people.

All tipping discussion on the restaurant board is limited to The Disney Dining Tipping Information thread, which is a sticky at the top of this forum.

The first post of the thread explains why we have just one thread, has the general guidelines for the thread, and even a tipping FAQ.
