At the new La Cantina de San Angel, we ordered the Tacos de Carne - grilled beef tacos served on fresh handmade corn tortillas with Pico de Gallo, lime and corn tortilla chips $11.95. Now I understand food costs more @ Disney. I've eaten almost everything there! But I have to say, that these 3 tacos were tapas sized. 3 Tacos @ only two bites each, makes them $4 a piece! When I read that they were served on homemade corn tortillas, I assumed a standard size tortilla would be served. Well maybe if you're Jiminy Cricket! Not a good value, and I say No way Jose to this Cantina. :upsidedow

Ah yes, the diminishing portions of WDW....that is a thing I know well. I usually say no to the itty bitty food but YES to those alcoholic beauties in the Frech pavillion.:cool1:

Actually I had the tacos (chicken ones though) twice in October and on both occasions by the time I had eaten them, I couldn't touch the tacos or dessert. I guess it just depends how hungry you are. Did you enjoy them though?

ETA: Lol, I just read your tag

Actually no, we didn't like the flavor of them either. We've eaten many carne tacos from food trucks and restaurants , and these just didn't have much flavor or size. I think they should describe them as teeny tacos if they aren't standard taco size. For a counter service meal, @ $12, we just expected more.

My DH ordered these and was still starving (even after eating all his chips too) and ate half my nachos, since they were such a large portion! We go to Chipotle and I get the 3 tacos and they are like 8 inch tacos, but the ones at La Cantina were like 4 inch tacos and tiny!

Look at how tiny they are!

Thanks for posting this picture! Can you believe those mini tacos and chips cost $12? :upsidedow

Those tacos don't look that small. Fairly standard size for a corn tortilla. Were they doubled up? I haven't had it yet as I haven't been back to the World since they opened. There's a little hole-in-the-wall place I go to near work that has fairly authentic tacos that are hand-sized served on doubled-up corn tortillas (lingua, carnitas, and all that). Usually 3 will fill me up, so for a lunch portion, that's not bad.

Of course, I generally pay .95 cents a taco too, so yeah, $12 is an absolute rip-off.
Even the fancy taquerias that have been springing up all over the place generally only charge $2.50 to $3.00 a taco, and that's with ingredients like shrimp or lobster.

Are those the appetizer tacos. Aren't appetizers suppossed to be small. Thats why they call them appetizers.

To me, they look like the average size of a "street taco" like you would get at Rubios or other places that sell these..

They look normal sized to me as well :confused3 Standard sizing for corn tortillas is 6", though I agree at the taquerias and trailers around here they do tend to double them up so they don't fall apart from the juice and grease. Having no experience with this restaurant, I can't say, and photos can be hard to use as a gauge. It would be hilarious if someone visiting soon would open one up and compare it to a dollar bill (i.e. 6"). Though if they really are, as they claim, freshly made at Epcot, who knows how they tinkered with the sizing.

BTW: maybe the disconnect is that others are used to flour tortillas, which do tend to be larger. The above example of Chipotle, for instance: even their small soft tacos are flour tortillas.

These are the counter service entree tacos not apps.

If thats the case then they are overpriced. I thought they were the apps at hacienda. Most apps at wdw seem to run in the 10-15 dollar range. I would give the op the benefit of the doubt. I think its hard to determine size from a picture.

They look like a good size to DH and I and given the cost of food at Disney, in line.

We ate there in October - DH and I shared the tacos at the cantina counter service at epcot.

The tacos were ok in size I thought and the meal overall on ddp was alot of food - for one cs credit you got 3 tacos, a big portion chips, 3 churros and a large soda.

We had eaten some things at f & w though so weren't starving hungry. Also i'm from the UK so alot of US portions look too large to me.

We ate there Friday 12/3. My first thought when I got my basket was "These are awfully small tacos".

Two of the three "mini" soft tacos fell completely apart when I picked them up.

They are not "standard" size. They weren't much more than 4" in diameter. A soft flour tortilla is 8", a burrito size is almost 12". Maybe that's just here in Texas?

Anyway, that "Basket" wasn't worth more than $4.

Ours fell apart too. They weren't "double" wrapped and I would guess their size to be just over 3". A standard Taco Bell corn tortilla is closer to 6". These tacos were seriously just 2 bites each, and my mouth is just average sized! :)

I don't usually flinch at Disney food prices, I know what to expect and we never go hungry. But...the tacos really are seriously small. We ate at the cantina a day or two after it re-opened in September. My husband ordered the beef tacos and I ordered the chicken. At nearly $12 for each meal, we really did expect 6- or 8-inch tortillas. These couldn't have been much over 3". And they only come with chips. So, it's a little pile of meat and a little pico on three tiny tortillas and a big pile of cheap (but tasty!) chips. No other toppings.

The flavor was really good, though, honestly. The meat was marinated and tender and the tortillas were super fresh. Just several dollars over-priced. Even at Disney prices I would'nt have guessed that plate at more than $8 or $9. (And less than $5 at home.)

those are really small tacos, but the Nachos look great, how did they taste??

Come to think of it, they were just two bites each for me as well. That should certainly put it in perspective for anyone.

My 5yo. had the Nachos. He said they were better than the ones at kindergarten. Not an astounding accomplishment by any means if you've seen kindergarten nachos. I tried them, thought "okay", but still couldn't shake the thought of how ridiculously overpriced these items were.

The nachos weren't even covered in cheese, just one spot - another spot salsa, another spot something else. Seriously, there was less than a dollar's worth of food costs there.

And the place was packed!

Those tacos look like street tacos that you get at Rubio and they are pretty small. I find at a theme park I tend to be more hungry than normal with all the walking so, I can totally see how those don't make a meal. Did you complain? I certainly would have since they weren't what you expected.

I've never liked the Mexican counter service at Epcot so, I doubt I'll ever eat there. Those nachos don't look good to me either.
