I am going to disney in May and am undecided whether to stay in the Sequoia or the Newport bay - normal or admirals floor?

Can anyone clarify the main difference between the normal floor and admirals floor apart from dedicated check-in? Do you have breakfast in the same place or is there separate for admirals floor guests?

Also is there much difference in quality of rooms between normal newport bay and sequioa?

Thanks

Admiral's Floor
Consierge Service
Room Service
Mini bar
Room Safe
Laundry/dry cleaning service
Breakfast in your room (at a small extra fee)
Complimentary coffee/tea hamper and kettle
In the bathroom flowers, hairdryer, bathrobes, bath & hand sized soaps, seperate shampoo and bubble baths, not all in one -( replenished everyday whether they'd been used or not, I came home with loads ).
Chocolate coins on the beds every day.
Box of chocolates in the room on arrival for adults and cuddly toys for the children.
I've never heard anyone complain of a long walk to the lifts on Admirals Floor, so I assume they're all fairly central and not in the wings.
We did have a special VIP breakfast, taken in the Captain's Quarters, but they seem to have stopped doing it now, so breakfast will be in the hotel restaurants with everyone else.

The above is all based on our stay, I've never stayed in a standard room at NPB I would imagine it's pretty much the same as SL.

Which you prefer is a matter of personal choice, I love the look and feel of the NPB in and out, aesthetically it appeals to me more than any of the other hotels including the DLH and we had the most wonderful stay there. On both my stays at SL I've been a little disappointed, for me the SL serves it's purpose, a place to sleep, but that's it, but I know I'm in a minority on that one.:rolleyes1

Thanks very much for the info.:)

Does anyone know if the actual rooms on the Admirals floor are the same as on the other floors?

Same rooms. I have stayed at Sequoia Lodge and Newport Bay Club (standard and Admirals Floor), and in my opinion there are not any advantages on Admirals Floor rooms over the standard rooms (apart from the dedicated counter). And taking everything on account, I like better Sequoia Lodge.

i've never stayed in NPBC but i loved SL when i stayed there, so i would recommend SL. its got great theming, the rooms are nice, and the bar is really lovely and cosy

We stayed on the admiral's floor (not in a suite) between the 28-31st of December and we had none of those things; Mousekeeping also knocked persistently on our door despite the do not disturb sign. My Mum asked them to come back later as I was asleep, (or had been until the prolonged knocking) but they didn't and this we had no Mousekeeping at all in the time we were there.

We certainly wouldn't pay for Admiral's Floor again :confused3

Luck of the drawer maybe, I couldn't fault our stay and as for housekeeping DH was ill one morning and didn't leave the hotel until lunchtime, but when we arrived back later that day they'd been in - I was very impressed. That was in March 2006 when we also had a fabulous VIP breakfast taken in the exclusive Captain's Quarters, I know that this is no longer available to Ad. Floor guests so maybe the whole Ad. Floor experience has been downgraded. :confused3

But, don't even get me started on the housekeeping at SL, I'm not 100% sure it actually exists, after 2 seperate stays with no toiletries and a really nasty eye infection I caught on our first stay there, which led me to wonder whether the towels had been changed, my impression of SL is less favourable,
but it is in a good location at a reasonable price. :)

Sequoia Lodge Montana room with view on the lake ^^

I dont like the NPB and would not even test the admiral floor.

We stay at both hotels every year and it seems to be a question of luck of the draw! We've never had any problem in either of the hotels and the only difference we noticed between a normal room and AF rooms was the room service and of course the check in though you wait just as long as normal guest check in if its a busy period. The rooms are roughly the same size though with a different decor. We love both hotels but our first choice is NPB however if there are no rooms available we're happy to go to SL

Just returned from the SL. It was our first stay there and have stayed at the NBC twice previously.
Got to say we have never had a problem with the NBC but we all preferred the SL. It seemed more family friendly, had more social areas (the bar upstairs was fantastic) and we preferred the buffets in the restaurants.
After staying at the SL, the NBC seemed more adult aimed. More for couples and conference types.
They're both lovely hotels but the family friendly, lovely theming and social areas of the SL was definitely a winner for us.

I think I'd agree with you there Paul the NPB is definately more adult and less child/family orientated, which I like especially at the bar in the evening when I'm having my nightcap ;)
My children are that little bit older and happy to sit engrossed in their DS's, so child facilities aren't really high on our list. :)

We've stayed in both and my preference would be SL. Just because it's more child friendly and nicer decor.

We just stayed in SL in Dec and although the main building was gorgeous and the surroundings, we werent impressed with our room. It was in one of the lodges and quite a distance in the pitch black at night time from the main building. The staff were lovely though but the room was too dark for us and some of our lights didnt work even though we mentioned it about 3 times and we kept having to ask to get new toilet rolls as they werent re-filling them or the towels.
We are looking to stay at the NPB next time but i need to get a bit more info about it first which i'll read up on here, to see if its worth paying the extra to stay on the Admirals floor or not etc.

luv
