September or October

We went the last week of September (23-29). It was rather hot the first two days, then it rained at the weather was really nice the rest of our stay. We did not wait in line for anything more than 10 minutes. We did everything except the rides with height restrictions (tower of terror, etc) because we were there with two little ones. The only complaint we had was that it was luvbug season so they were everywhere. They took us by surprise. It's definately worth dealing with them for such little wait time. We will be going back September 2007. We are hoping for free dining again.

Just curious, and are they still around the second week of October (we're thinking of going Columbus Day weekend this year !!

I personally love September. The first time I took my DBF was in September, no lines, he loved it. I took him back May of this year and all he said everytime we stood in a line was how much he wished we waited until September. This year we are going in September....I can't wait:cool1:

We are currently thinking of doing the first two weeks of October but if free dining is offered, we may try to change the dates. I'm wondering though, if free dining gets offered for September, would that be enough to cause DW to become really crowded during that time?

The second week of September absolutely rocks. Most rides are walk-ons, all the time. Free dining was offered then, which is the key to getting my husband to go at all. The weather was great.

We went first week in October the year before, it started out well but the Food and Wine Festival made Epcot really crowded. Also, we don't care about the Halloween festivities, and the extra crowds and early park closing at the MK for the party were a bit annoying. Oversll, we'll stick with early September whenever possible.

My boyfriend and I went 9/29-10/8 in 2006 and LOVED it the whole time! Food and Wine was great. Weather was beautiful (10 minutes TOTAL of rain) and about 85 degrees, but lower humidity than I had expected. Free dining was a blessing too - it saved us about $2000. Crowds were really low (the longest wait was for Soarin' and it was only 25 minutes). It did get noticeably busier on the last Saturday we were there, but it was Columbus Day weekend so I expected it ahead of time. All in all, this was our first trip, was very magical, and all of our future trips will be at the same time.

Either way, ENJOY!

I am bumping this in hopes of getting the answer to the love bug question!!!

What is a LOVE BUG??:scared:

Love bugs are bugs that emerge once a year, swarm, mate, and die. As I understand it, they don't bite. They're just a nuisance. If you drive through a swarm of them, your car will be covered in their little dead bug bodies. You may find outdoor benches and such covered with them as well.

Here's an article on them: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Love_bug

we went last week of sept first couple days of Oct 1-year and the weather was beautiful and the crowds were nothing at all really.

I would plan to arrive last day of September. That way if free dining comes out, you can call and have it added to your package(or cost taken off, however you look at it.) As long as your stay BEGINS during free dining, all you dining package will be free, if they have that promotion.

I didn't find it to be crowded with free dining and we were ther over Labor Day Weekend last year. When we left on Monday morning, it was crowded, but not during the weekend. The only thing is that you need to reserve your table service meals early on, because reservations can run out.

If you go in September go at the end of the month or it will be very hot. Depending on what part of TN you are from would decide if the heat and humidity earlier would bother you or not. It kills me!

Are you at all interested in the Food & Wine Festival?

Last year I think they were around a little longer than usual and a lot more of them than usual. But the 2nd week of October you'll probably still see a few but it shouldn't be too bad.

Last year was the first year I had seen so many of them. It was gross! We couldn't sit at the bus stop because they were so bad. Disney crews would clean them up every morning but in no time they were everywhere again. :scared:

 And that's why DW will never be seen at WDW during Love Bug season, free dining plan or no!

We were in Disney this past dec and while we were there it was 85 degrees and hot and muggy. Free Dining is great but so is F & W Fest. Since I am from the south I don't notice the love bugs as much I guess. I like free dinig I can stay longer or upgrade for example upgrading to Contemporary Tower MK View. Best of Luck with your decision.

Hi All,

I am planning a trip to the world in 2007. Everytime I have gone before was in May. I am thinking about September or October. Would anyone like to throw in their two cents worth?

We are an adult couple without kids. We really would not have much interest in the Halloween festival etc. We would like their to be fewer crowds.

Thanks for the help.

Chuck

my wife and i are big kids too......

i've been there in sept and october,,,

cons with both:

you are in hurricane season,,however disney has a new policy that if a hurricane is in the forecast durring your stay,,,if you cancel you are refunded with no penalties ,,,,,

con for sept,,,

it's hot and humid,,,

pro's for sept,,,

less crowds,,

pro's for october: a must see is Mickey's Not So Scary Halloween Party,,well worth it....

the only real difference between the 2 were crowd levels at dinner time,,,in september we didn't need to make any reservations, in October, the week of halloween, we had to make reservations at the conceirge station every morning,,,no biggy for us though....

if it were me i would pick october,,,if you can hold off until January,,it's cheaper,, a little cooler in the winter months at night though,,,first time going in January,,,we were in Mexico in January 2 years ago,,,,got pretty cool at night with the sea breeze....

I will make sure i post back when i get back to let you know how it went....

if you want to send me a private message i will respond.

hope this helps..
