You will be able to go on all the islands w/o a passport.

Ron

Yay! This is such good news! I thought the only thing that was accepted was a passport. I have all the other forms, I dont mind dragging all of that stuff along at all. As long as I can get on that ship! :lmao:

Yep, what Ron said. We don't have passports. As long as you are going on a closed loop cruise (leaving from and returning to the same US port) you only need a birth cert and a valid gov't issued ID. Of course, if you missed the boat while in one of the islands or had to be hospitalized and had to fly back home, you would need a passport. But those can be acquired on an emergency basis from the US embassy in each island/country (for $$ of course!).

Hopefully, you can breathe a little easier now :)

Alright, I'm really starting to worry.....

I got married on July 14th, on July 17th I sent all of my information in,to update my passport. Since my passport was not expired I did'nt think I had to pay for an updated one. 3 weeks later they sent it back telling me that I did have to pay the fee for a new passport. Which thats totally fine with me. So i send them a check including an extra fee to have it rushed. Just this last Friday I checked the mail and there was a letter from them that stated my passport photo was not taken within 6 months. Which was not true because I had it taken the same day I sent the information in the 1st place on July 17th.... Just to please them I had another passport picture taken. I paid fedex to have it overnighted to them. They are supposed to have it by today. Ive called three times so far and they still have not recived it. I was told that their system only updates once a day. They also informed me that I am not guarantied that I will have it before I leave for my trip! I'm super stress out, what if I dont get it back before the trip? All of their workers are going to know me from a first name basis by the time this is over with. :rolleyes2
I need some good vibes sent my way! :goodvibes

Just remember that the birth certificate must be an official one. It cannot be one that was issued by the hospital. But as it has been said with the BC and a picture ID you can cruise and visit all the ports.

Janet and I will be doing the single digit dance in the morning. Now to find the time to get ready to leave. Had a five day weekend and got the plumbing redone in the house but not much more. And we hired the job out. It is great to have increased water pressure however.

On another note I almost killed my DIL cat. I gave an overdose of insulin last night. 500 dollars later it seems that she may be ok but it may take me a bit to recover. Pixie dust is needed.

Well back to play the waiting game.

Well we are now in Single Digits!!!!! Only 9 days till we head out for WDW!

for those of you wondering about passports. yes as along as you have a photo ID and birth certificate you can get on board. but g0d forbid anything happens to you while in any the islands you would be stuck there and it would be alot of hassel to go thru to get you back into the US without it. We always travel with our passports no matter where we are going.

My mom still travels with her original passport even though she was remarried 3 years ago. She of course has her ID with her new married name so when booking cruises and all inclusives she goes by her previous married name. I will most likely be doing the same thing once i get married and ill get a new passport in 2016 when mine expires with my soon to be last name.

We're back home from a fun weekend at Ft Wilderness. That place is really neat! We visited all the resorts in the Magic Kingdom resort for a quick drink, snacks and some pictures. I think I'd like to try a stay at the Polynesian one of these days.:goodvibes

Well anyway, it feels like we are in vacation mode already. It is going to be hard to go back to work for 11 1/2 more days before our real vacay!!! But oh my, so much to do!! If I weren't so exhausted from our trip I'd get started. But....:rolleyes1

Ron

The Poly was my dream resort and in 2008 we stayed there. I did love it, although we requested to change rooms as our first room was very loud from the garbage trucks going through the back lanes of the resort. That was not very tropical to me! Once we moved, it was beautiful. I love the lobby area and the pool is absolutely amazing. Of course, being on the monorail wasn't too shabby either. :goodvibes

We stayed at AKL last year, and got a Savannah Room. The kids absolutely loved it, so I think if they had a choice, they would pick AKL. For me, it would be a toss up between the Poly, Boardwalk (love being able to walk into Epcot) and AKL (loved watching the animals!).

Right...
If you don't get it in time, just bring your old one, your valid driver's license/ state id, Birth Certificate, and your marriage license. I know it seems like a lot, but this will get you on the ship.:goodvibes Actually you don't need to even bring the old one as long as you've get the other three... but I guess it wouldn't hurt:cool2:

Ron

Just make sure you have identification that is listed in the name you used for your reservation. Not sure if you made the reservation in your married name or maiden name....but be sure you have ID that proves you are who you are with the name you used to book the trip. Clear as mud???
