Our kids

T - age 4

Stateroom 2521
We have late dining. Not sure if that was a good decision though.

Welcome to the group. My husband and I have late dining but I will have to change that for I think it is a little late for him to eat:cutie:

I haven't gotten through all the pages yet (Holy Cow - 26 pages and still over a year until we sail!)

I LOVE LOVE LOVE the first post, what a great group you all seem to be, and how organized. THANK YOU! :thumbsup2

Our cast of characters:
Darcy (me)
Tom (DH)
Jordan (DD - 10 almost 11 when we cruise)
Aidan (DS - 10 almost 11 when we cruise)

We live in CT, have 2nd dining and are in room 6572

This will be our 3rd cruise and we will be celebrating our 16th anniversary. Looking foward to the new ship...I think. :goodvibes I am on the fence about wanting to see the new ship and thinking it is SO much bigger than the Wonder & Magic....we shall see!

Can't wait to catch up on all the pages....

Welcome. This really is a great group. Serveral of us have cruised together in the past and we picked up right where we left off.

I cannot wait. I have nothing planned between now and this cruise. So it will be a very long wait.

I have been watching the news and my prayers go out to anyone who is now dealing with the effects of Irene. The force of Mother Nature has left me in awe and my heart hurts for those who have lost family as well as their homes, businesses, and ect.

Well I had better close and get some work done around the house. I have a very long work week this week. Lois

Welcome! Welcome to our new members! Happy to see more cruisers finding us here on the boards.

Hope Irene didn't impact any of you too severely. We left home before we even had a drop of rain, and took a route to Florida that kept us away from the costal winds and rain.

Hot at The :earsboy: World this morning, but we love the pools at AKV.

Hi everyone,

I have been lurking & reading and last night put down a deposit for our first cruise!

I booked a deluxe family oceanview room (8B). I wanted a verrandah (only $200 more) but I would very much like to talk my husband into at least 5 full days at Disney (if not 7) and perhaps MNSSHP before our cruise. Hmm... I'm not wanting very much am I? :rotfl: Maybe I should be booking an inside room to save $600 but I would really like an oceanview for our first cruise. And that large porthole looks fun! Would we really miss much with an inside? :confused3

We are a family of 4. There's myself (Danielle), husband (James), our 13 year old daughter (Jaimie Leigh), and our 8 year old son (Andrew). We live in Ontario, Canada.

Ohh, we have stateroom 9662 and are eating at main dining. I'm not sure if we would prefer second dining or not. Our family is used to eating around 5-6pm. But some posts indicate that main dining could make you late for the evening entertainment. What is your take on that?

Hello to all new cruisers!! It's going to be such an awesome cruise. Countdown is almost at 1 year :)

Hello! A fellow Canadian! :)

Thanks Everyone for the kind words!
I'm thinking we'll stay with late dining. That way we're not rushing to get ready for dinner.
Also I'm not sure if we'll be able to make the early breakfast if we go with main dining.

Welcome to our excited and friendly group! It is going to be fun to be able to meet everyone on the boards and reconnect with cruisers that we have sailed with before!:)

OK so who on here actually prefers Disney Cruises to staying at WDW for an equal amount of time? Just wondering how the cruises match up. It'll be my first cruise.

I would choose DCL over WDW any day of the week. It is close but DCL will win each time.

I also would be willing to bet that most on this thread that have the same feelings. You will love DCL and this may not be your last cruise.

We feel the same way Lois. As much as I love Disneyland (I prefer that over WDW) My family chooses DCL hands down.

My 20 year old son keeps asking if we can take him on another DCL cruise when he has a break in his college classes. His favorite vacations to date have been our Disney Cruises.

And also a big :welcome: to Danielle and family! So glad you will be cruising with our fun group! :goodvibes

Yeah I am a huge parks fan, but like everyone else it is DCL (and cruising in general) now hands down. I guess I'm spoiled by living so close to WDW that the parks can be (and usually are) a day or weekend trip vs. a long vacation. But DCL is so special and so unique and so different. :thumbsup2

We have just 2 weeks before we sail on Allure. So much to do still!!! Packing-Laundry... ugh! ;)

That is a tough one, we love cruising...and, I swear, every time we go on another Disney cruise, we love it that much more. Cruise vacations are just so different from the hustle and bustle of a parks vacation - - it actually feels like a vacation instead of hurrying to get to rope drop or get our FastPasses or an ADR. BUT, I don't think that we could ever pick one or the other - there is something about the magic of Disney World that a cruise will never match. That's one of the big reasons that we joined DVC - - so we could do a parks vacation and a cruise vacation every year, instead of having to pick just one.

Oh without a doubt I would do a Disney Cruise over Disney World:worship: I still love Disney World and hope to go back some day:cheer2:

Like Crysal 27, this is a tough one. They are totally different types of vacations. We did our first cruise in December 2009 (3 night to "test the waters") and I couldn't fly into MCO without going to the parks. So, we did 5 days at the parks and the 3 night cruise. We LOVED the cruise and booked a 7 night for the following year.

Both vacations have that Disney magic and spectacular service, but they can't be compared. WDW is a fast paced vacation, that you often feel you need a few days after to recover. DCL is full of Disney, but is very relaxing. You can do as little or as much as you want. You can choose to just hang on the ship and relax, or you can go into ports, do excursions, etc.

With that being said, we are leaving in 2 weeks for a quick trip to WDW because it's been a few years and we wanted to take the kids before they get much older. We just told them the other night about the trip (I booked it in February) and they are VERY excited. On the other hand, we also have a 7 night DCL vacation planned for 2012!

I just don't think I could choose between the 2. I love them both!
