September 22, 2012 Fantasy Eastern "From Fantasyland to the Fantasy"

Hi everyone,

My husband & I are thinking of booking our family's first cruise. I keep reading about the price climbing from when the cruises are first released to before sail date. Since this one is still 14 months away, and doesn't seem too bad - I'm curious as to what the price was back when it was first released.

I tried looking through the sticky for a booking history, but didn't see anything.

Family of 4 (2 adults, 13 year old, 8 year old - time of cruise) looking at cat 6B, 6A, 5E or 5D - hopefully one of those will still have a plex-glass verrandah available.

If any similiar families have booked in those cats - would you mind telling me what you paid? Thanks! :goodvibes

Hello,

I (we) have cat. 5E, Deck # 5 starboard side, verandah w/plexiglass - $3,547.76 per cabin. This includes airfair and Disney Insurance.

If you have any more questions feel free to ask me.

Paul (Paul2003)

Hope everyone is having a nice Friday night! I'm spending mine doing laundry and planning activities for our Brownie troop. I took over the leader position this year and I picked up all of the craft supplies and books and information from our old troop leader today. Trying to get organized so I at least LOOK like I know what I'm doing! :lmao:

Anybody have any exciting weekend plans? My DD has a golf lesson in the morning, then we are taking my dad out to dinner at his (and mine, too!) favorite seafood restaurant tomorrow night for his birthday. Can't wait for some yummy seafood!

I love arts and crafts!! The Brownie troop is going to have a blast:yay:

Have a great weekend everyone!

Janet and I are going into the office to try to catch up on some work. Not what I call exciting but needed to keep the stress level managable. I need this vacation to be this year not next!!!

Thanks for the info Paul!

This morning I was checking to see which staterooms still available have the verrandah with plexiglass.

A 5E for our family of 4 would cost $4,695.48 plus $632.80 for Disney Insurance & Transfers = $5,328.28. That's before our airfare!

Mind if I ask what your cabin cost is before airfare?

Hi there DaniB!

Not sure if this helps a lot, since our cabin configuration is a little weird. :lmao: But it is an interesting comparison. We have a 6B (7192) which is an aft stateroom with a slightly larger balcony. It does have the plexiglass but also has the railings since it is an aft room. If you aren't familiar with what that looks like, here is a pic!

DSC00975.jpg

Anyway, like I said our configuration is weird since we have 5 people! We actually have 2 staterooms the 6B 7192 and the adjoining (not connecting) inside 11B 7191. We have my husband and my son (age 12) in the balcony room and myself and my two girls (ages 11 and 4) in the inside room. We booked during the "soft" opening which was before it was announced booking was open to the general public, so basically we booked at the earliest possible time.

Our total cost for all 5 of us in both rooms with no airfare or transfers was $4770.42.

Without insurance (you can get better coverage and cheaper from an independent company like insuremytrip.com) and transfers, (yes the DCL buses are neat but again, a private car service, rental car or sometimes even a limo can be cheaper) your base price IMO is still reasonable considering that demand for DCL- especially the newer ships - has been very high. The prices will continue to go up and up!

I hope that helps a little bit! Enjoy your trip planning! :goodvibes

Just stopping by to say hello to everyone. Boy this vacation cannot happen soon enough! I am changing what I do at work again. This is both an exciting and sad occurence. I love what I do but my direct supervisor and I do not get along. She leaves me feeling like I am worthless. So I am moving back to what I was doing and am going to be trained to train other to complete an assessment that we use. Now all I need is to hope that it all really comes together.

Also just found out that the family is now facing a crisis. My Brother in law has been accused of taking liberties with my 13 year old niece. My sister is lost as the kids have been removed at least for the time being. Please keep them all in prayer that those who are making the decisions and investigating the events will make good choices. It looks like it really did happen but there may be some question as to just who is the perp (the step dad or his teenage son). Sometime life just hands you more lemons than you need and not enough sugar. I just wish I lived closer to her so I could be of more help.

Well I need to go cook or help cook dinner. Tomorrow is a new day and there is a bright Disney future out there for us all!!!!

Oh my gosh, I literally cannot imagine the turmoil that your family is going through right now, but hang in there. :guilty:

Update on my Family crisis: The twins are now staying with a close family friend. My sister can have as much time with her girls as long as her friend or her husband are present. Things are looking much better at this point and we hope that the girls can be back home with their mother sometime soon.

You know they say that God will not give you more than you can handle but sometimes I really have to wonder. I will just need to trust that it will all work out for the best.

Really need a VACATION!!!!! This trip will be my reward fpr making through the next year. Lois

Found us all the way back on page three. That just will not do so here is a gental bumb back to page one!

Hope all had a great week-end and that the week will be productive. Lois

There must be some very busy threads out there as we were already on page two. I have the day off today. Just went back to a four ten hour work week. I will have Sat, Sun, & Mon off each week. I am very please about this.

For those who are newer to the thread I am planning on keeping a list of where folks are planning to be the night before this cruise. Last one we were able to put together a mini meet for dinner and thought if we know where folks were that more of us might be able to connect. I know that it is still very early and most will not know what the finial plans will be.

Janet and I hope to drive again and will stay at the port. We want to begin to explore property for sale in the area. Mind you we cannot move until late 2018 or spring of 2019. That really seems so far off. But right now it is what keeps me going!!! Anyone know of a good realtor who know the Central Florida area. We think we will end up in the Orlando area as we will get more for our money than we would if we went for the coast. But I really love the ocean and would love to walk on the beach every morning.

Well I never expected this post to be my life story so I will close for now. Lois

Lois - if all goes as planned, I'll be on the Fantasy the night before our cruise. I'm hoping to book a B2B cruising on the Fantasy from the 15th to the 29th.

I am getting really close to booking this cruise I really want to cruise with all my DD buddies again:dance3:.

Joe and I are going to WDW on December 29th:santa: for 5 days to celebrate our 35 wedding anniversary:love::love: which will be Nov 20th. I got some great ADR's including CA Grill on the 30th at 9:40 hoping to still be there to see MK practice NYE fireworks and Rose and Crown on the 31st at 10:20 just in time to enjoy NYE Illuminations at 11:30. Also, have the CP booked on the 29th at La Hacienda not sure if that is a definite yet but the other two are!!

Hi Lois! We are considering driving, also... It is so much cheaper that way! How fun to think about living in Florida!

Hi Lois,

We're still in consideration mode for where we'll be the night before. Trying to convince my DH to get there 3 days earlier to do 3 days of WDW but I haven't had much luck so far! lol He'd rather we arrive the day before and stay somewhere close to the port. Our WDW vacation in coming up soon so perhaps I won't need to convince him, Disney may just sell itself to him LOL I hope :)

I love...it when I get to flip another page on the calendar. Just a bit closer to sailing with you all! :thumbsup2

Wow, just realized it's been a couple of weeks since I've been on the boards! I've been busy getting ready for school to start again...two more weeks! Hope everyone is having a great day. I am - Happy Birthday to ME! LOL! Have had a nice day with my girls so far...DH worked last night, so he is sleeping for a little bit. But he surprised me by taking tonight off - so we have family day today! Haven't decided if we should go see The Smurfs or head out to the beach for sunset...hmmmmm.

Heading to Disney this next weekend. Taking our girls to Blizzard Beach and Typhoon Lagoon - they haven't been there yet and they are so excited. Will be a nice little weekend getaway - I really need my Disney fix. Also getting ready for our September trip for MNSSHP. So thrilled to be staying at AKL and having a huge group dinner (35 of us!) at House of Blues! Going to have a blast like we do every year :)

Getting excited for this cruise - almost to our 1 year countdown! Did you all see the newest pic on the Meyer-Werft page? The red funnel has been revealed! Yay! Have a great weekend all :)

Lois, I'm sure Ron has mentioned we plan on being in the PC area the evening before we sail and look forward to a meet! We also plan on doing MNSSHP in the day(s) prior, (hopefully Thursday depending on the schedule.) :thumbsup2

We are but a mere 13 months away, folks!! The ship looks great, I couldn't believe the progress they have made recently. We have had a lot going on with dance, back to school and our upcoming cruise so I have not been focusing on this cruise that much but come October when we return it will be full steam ahead...all Fantasy, all the time!! :cutie:

Please add us to the list of cruisers staying at the port the night before we sail. We're absolutely interested in a dinner meet. Thanks for doing this!

By the way, we are headed to The World on 08/27/11 for a few days at AKV.
Can you plan some nice weather for us?
