Hey all! Sorry I have been MIA. I had to go on a business trip to CO and CA for a week. Anyway, I went through all the checks and paypal payments and will be ordering the pins on Monday. My POC said they will take 7-10 days to get here. I grossly mis-judged how much paypal was taking out, and we have paid for 220 pins, but can only order them in incriments of 100, so I have to order 300. So a bit of the cost will be coming out of pocket (about $100 with shipping) No biggie. My question is, would anyone be mad if I charged $3.00 for them on the ship (for those who didn't pre-order) to get a bit of the $$ back for the pins and shipping? I don't think this is unfair, but please let me know if you do. I will be cashing all the checks on Monday as well- so sorry if I screwed your bank statement up with all the waiting. Thanks for paying so promtly, and I will let you all know when they come in! I will separate them into zip-lock bags with labels and can someone set up a time so I can pass them out?? I can bring them to the send off and the pajama breakfast and hope I get most of you. I can't wait!! :) :)

80 extra pins seems like a lot to have to order extra when we really only need 20....I wonder if some people that ordered multiples to give out would consider modifying their order so we could get the order down to 200 - I know I paid for (well Leslie did on my behalf) 2 pins, but I would be willing to just take one pin for the price of the two.....what do others think of this....I would hate for Cathy to be out any money, let alone $100.

9361 What happens on the Wonder.... is fair game.....LOL NO... I better not say that... I'LL be the one who suffers.....LOL

I believe the appropriate expression should have been...

".... What happens on the Southern Carribean Wonder - stays on the Wonder..." in a parody of the Vegas line. Or - one could also say ... "What Corwin does on the Wonder - stays on the Wonder..." ... Ok... MAYBE IT'S NOT as entertaining a line as I thought it might have been - but i'll too lazy to backspace over it and I'll still use it as my 1st daylight post for today!

G'morning folks from Waikiki.... I got a nice early AM walk on the sand with my older daughter. I've attached a couple of pix from last nite and this morning below:

I've had some difficulty with my image host - so if it does not appear for you - ten just imagine a couple of flight travel pix plus some sand shots and you're all DONE! :rolleyes1

I wonder if it's OK...

... but I paid via paypal and added extra above the requested amount to offset paypal fees - and if it is OK I'll pick up at the boat. That PU was my understanding... plus if any remain unsold at the ship (after others have had a chance to buy if they did not order in advance) then I would be happy to get extras at $3.

Also, I see absolutely no reason for a DIS volunteer to have undue compication or loss of any financial size - as such I would be happy to kick in a little more $. However, in my case I ordered 4 and wold like to keep 4. Maybe everyone who has already bought pins can kick in another $0.25 per pin ... at 220 pins this is still only $55. And if the 80 extra were sold at a $0.75 excess this amounts to $60. Now... I know this amounts to $115.... but I assume less than 100% will get around to kicking in the token $0.25.... and not all of the extra pins will sell. But - as an up-front interpretation --- this seems fair with a "weighted" corrective measure that comes close to resolving this 101+%.

Anyone against the extra $0.25 per prepaid pin and $3 for any purchased after the pre-order period?

ACTUALLY.... what we have here is really 1) uncompensated paypal fees; 2) an excess of 80 unsold pins. The right way to address this is to recognize that Paypal charges $0.30 + 3%. So on a $10 purchase of 4 pins or about $10... the paypal fees would have been $0.70 or 7% by my estimate. Paypal on ONE pin would have been $0.30 + $0.09 or about 13%. I actually have forgotten how much they were... $2.25 or $2.50? That is why the % estimates are divergent and inconsistent.

SO... if this is the case.... we could actually work out a table of EXACTLY how much extra shold have been paid by various parties. And respectful cooporation in paying the Paypal fees to AirforceMom wold be appreciated. NOW... this only addresses the paypal fees. What of the extra 80 pins that were ordered so that EVERYONE could get what they ordered? Rather than reverse the order which I THINK might have already been sent (time being short - I would have assumed it was sent already). So what do we do about this aspect of the accomidation AFM made to ensure no one was disappointed?

Well... I would vote in favor of having the left over pins sell at $3 each allowing for an extra $0.50 or ).75 per pin. At this rate if the pins actually cost about $2.50 then the 80 would have cost $200(???). And if so, then we need to sell 67 at $3 to cover the actual cost of 80. And if the pins cost 2.25 then the 80 would have cost $180 and we need to sell 60 at $3 to recover the cost. The left over pins would amount to only 13 or 20 "free" spares. So - IMHO we are not seeing any sort of avariciousness conduct here.

Shoot... at this rate we should sell the left over pins at $4 and the excess free ones should go into a "pool" of prizes or activites to be selected at AFMs' disgression. Or eBay with financial profits going towards a bunch of lottery tickets. And if AFM hits it - then half of it goes to her for the complication she endured... then the remaining half goes to an even split among all those who ordered pins... porportionally. I volunteer to do the math!!! :teacher: Anyone wanna "2nd" my self noination?

Plus - we can probably Ebay the extras in penny clusters and probably turn a profit. They could be considered LE300 super scarce - never before seen - and probably never again made custom DCL pins! I imagine SOMEONE would bid for a few of these rare and priceless gems!

Safety Tips:

Put a flannel shirt or jacket on the backrest of the passenger seat. It makes
it appear there's someone else in the truck and often makes
the "bad guys" think twice.

Hey PIT!

I'm still here... and ya know what ... I DO smell somethin' ..... but I don't think it's... ??? (you).... nor do I think it's me (fortunately). Oh yeah... the kids are eating stuff... that's what it is.

At any rate... I have a TON of posts to catch up on too. I barely scratched the surface last nite since I sort of passed out at the switch and NOW I'm about to run to meet my BIL who's givin' us a lift to the surprise BD brunch.

So with that in mind - I bid everyone a wonderful weekend, safe travels where-ever you may go- near or far. And remember to pause and snap a picture or two to mark the passing casual elengance of another happy day now fading behind you! :wave2:

TTFN... but as U kno... I'll be back!

You know this lady ??? Lillie Elizabeth Drennan :goodvibes

I didn't but I do now. What a pioneer!!! I read her story to my husband, we both enjoyed it thouroughly. :goodvibes :goodvibes I love reading stories of women breaking the mold, especially in her time. I guess she didn't feel she needed to fit the mold of an oppressed woman in those times. :thumbsup2 Even if it did take a pistol "just incase" :lmao:

I was fortunate enough to meet a woman who had been driving with her husband since the 50's and had been put through the ringer by her fellow male drivers. She went to take her CDL driving test with a baby on her hip, originally. She started driving when truckstops didn't even have showers for women. They only had showers in the men's restrooms :sad2: Her husband would have to stand guard at the shower door to ensure her safety. She was spit on, called names, had things thrown at her, and had her life threatened. She did not let that stop her. Her attitude was that she was filling a need that men at the time were unwilling to fill. Her name was Evelyn, she worked for our previous company, and she passed on a few years back at the ripe ol age of 74. She drove until she died, her husband had passed on years before. She is my hero, she never cussed back at the men that harrassed her- she did her job with dignity and grace which is what I try to do. :goodvibes I have had similar things happen to me from other drivers who have made it clear that they don't think women should be out here but I just wave at them, smile, and laugh all the way to my disney cruises :woohoo: !

:cool1: Oh, and happy birthday capn crash! :cool1:
everyone else already wished you happy birthday, so I guess I'm the straggler. Hope you have a great day ! :cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2:

Is Stewarts still in business because I could have sworn that I got an Oranges and cream soda/pop last week here in Canada when Mom and I went out for fish & chips.....It was like drinking a Creamsicle......dessert in a bottle.

Elaine,

To the best of my knowledge Stewarts has closed all their dirve-ins but they are still botteling their root-beer and other flavors. They seem to have a fairly large distribution in the US but I have no idea about Canada. :confused3

The stand I once car hoped at in Mansfield is now a Taco-Bell.

Havn't had a chance to talk to the wife about this but I for one would be more than happy to kick in a extra $1.00 per pin for our order of 10.

As for the 80 extra I would be willing to by a couple more at the $3.00 price.
I really don't think getting rid of the next 78 would be that hard. :rolleyes1 They could be sold at the beverage stand along with the extra Bubba-Mugs. :thumbsup2 :rotfl2: :lmao: :rotfl2:

KEWL DEAL CATHY, Way to go, Sell those puppies for $3.00. makes sense to me, they will sell. Thanks for taking up this project. Heck I would take 10 more at $3.00 if that helps the cause..... They are a good thing to give to crew. Peter was tossing them to Panama Cannal workers, KEWL!!!! They also make good trading stock.

Crusing around I found out Rosh Hashanah will be happening while we are on board the 22nd. So I was wondering if some of our friend of the Jewish faith could tell me about this holiday.

Hey all! Let me add a few more facts...lol I have SOLD 220 pins so far, but there were 243 ordered. I have contacted those ppl, and most have written to say that they are paying soon, SO...that leaves about 57 to sell on the ship. I am ok with eating the paypal fees, my fault for not researching. I also feel bad about accepting additional money from anyone. I am taking my paypal account back down a notch so I cannot accept credit cards, but then they won't take a percentage anymore. My only real question was whether or not you all agreed with the $3 for the extra pins. Sounds like you all think it's fair, so that is what I will do. Many of you are doing extra things and spending your own money, so I feel bad asking for anything extra. Don't any of you stress over this, I'm not! :goodvibes I have $506.40 right now and if the 23 extra pins are paid for that will be appx $558. The pins are going to be $564. and I'm not sure what the shipping is going to be to send to the boat. So I think my only out of pocket expenses (as long as ALL the pins are paid for) will be about $50. I'm ok with that. If you really want, you can buy me a fru-fru drink, ok? :)
