Which do you think is the best month? We went Octobr 2005, and did MNSSHP so we aren't interested in that. We decided to book for September, arrriving on the 9th departing on the 22nd. Figured September wouldn't be so crowded either. We have 2 kids 12 and 8.

During September the parks are pretty empty after Labor Day weekend. But it will still be hot and humid with some afternoon thunderstorms. October gets much nicer weather-wise, especially after mid-month.

Thanks, I am still up in the air, going in Sept has it's advatages as the kids won't be missing much in school. School doesn't start until the Wed after Labor Day, and then it's only a half day. October 2005 was 32-34 degrees Celcius and at times 100% humidty. Is it much hotter (and more humid) in Sept?

we've gone both september and october - september has less crowds, few lines, but very hot, rainy, lovebugs - october has more crowds (MNSSHP, FW), less rain, no more bugs, not as hot/humid - so we're going back this october again!

We have done both and the October weather is so much nicer :)

September traditionally has very low crowds. The humidity, rain, hurricanes, love bugs, high temps are all potentially a part of your visit at that time of year. Not to say that we didn't enjoy our visits in September, but it's a time when you HAVE TO keep a bottle of fluids in your hand and drink all through the day! It was a fun time for sure, but it was important to pace ourselves, be prepared to take a seat inside now and then just to cool off even though we would rather be going 24/7. MNSSHP was pretty cool, but being that we don't have kids, it's not a must do for our upcoming trip.

From all that I have researched about October, the temps are lower, less rain, no love bugs, still can be humid, but not as bad as September. I am looking forward to the F&W festival and being able to celebrate my 40th birthday at WDW, when I get to it in November.

The choice is yours, but I think that either way, you can certainly have a lot of fun! Maggie

PS. If you decide to come in October, check in over at http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=1360866 and I will add you to the Official October List! Maggie

Now I am on the verge of changing. Going to speak to hubby. One question though, what are love bugs?????

They don't bite, but they can be seen in blankets on benches, walls, bushes, buses, cars, etc. They are not real hearty creatures either, so even a gentle swish of the hand to remove them from a surface and leave you with bug guts smeared on your hand. I know this from personal experience.....YUCK! Maggie

I did google them and used the link you provided. They don't sound too bad. Try camping in central Newfoundland. Some of the mosquitos would carry small children and animals away. There were nights we couldn't sit out because of them and the black flies. Repellant doesn't really work either.

Coming from an ex-floridian, the worst part about the love bugs is having to clean you car! They get scwished all over it.

Yep. One year for our annual September trip, my aunt and uncle rented a WHITE minivan. You should have seen that thing after the trip was over. We laughed ourselves silly at how many squashed bugs were on it. :rotfl2:

As someone who has gone to the World both in September and October, October is definitely much cooler. September weather is HOT. Every time we walked past a body of water (even a puddle on the ground) someone in our party would moan with longing. October is very pleasant, but when we went, it definitely wasn't pool weather either. (However, the CMs told us that the week before was INSANELY hot with freak temps in the 90s and high humidity, so go figure....) One day I nearly froze to death because the high was only in the 60s, winds were up, and the sun was hidden behind clouds the whole day and I had forgotten to pack any long pants. :rolleyes1 Yes, I am an idiot....

So if you do choose to go in October, I recommend that you don't make my mistake and make sure you have outfits for all types of weather. ;)
