Sept or Nov in HH?

Would you go to Hilton Head in September OR November for Thanksgiving?
If you have been during those months, what is the weather like then?

The weather in September will be much warmer and the ocean will be warm enough to enjoy a swim. Late November daytime temps will be pleasant and evenings will be cool.

The answer will depend on what you hope to be able to do while there. November would be great for playing golf or tennis, September more enjoyable at the beach.

Either time would be fine for a great trip!

I would be happy for either one!! But I guess I would lean more towards September with the chance of having warm weather still. Have a great trip. We may just decide to postpone our trip to WDW at our home, BWV in Oct. and go back to HH late August before the kids go back to school. Then maybe go to WDW in Jan or spring time next year. Have fun with whichever one you decide!

We've been to HH for Thanksgiving many times and absolutely love it. But it IS a very different atmosphere than during the warmer months!

There are still lots of activities and people are in the pools, even if the air temps are a bit on the cool side. (The hot tub gets a LOT of use, too!)

If you're thinking of this year for Thanksgiving, I would make the call to MS right away to see if it's even still available. The resort is always at full capacity for Thanksgiving. From what I gather, you can usually still get a reservation at 7 months, but I don't know just when it fills up completely.

You can order a full Thanksgiving dinner through the resort as well. We've never done it (I do kind of a semi-homemade turkey dinner ), but people have said the food is very good. It's delivered to your room at the time you specify, along with instructions for re-heating.

I just booked Thanksgiving in the last couple of weeks and there was plenty of availability, but the 7 month window had just opened. If you want TG, you better get on the phone! The weather at TG can be cool, but we've had hot days also.....September will be hot, so I personally prefer November. The resort sends you the info about the dinner a few weeks before TG....it all looks great and I'm tempted to try it this year. Problem is....it's too much food for my group of two, so I've got to find someone else who wants to eat. We've done several other TG dinner variations - been invited guests of another Dis member - Thanks again,P! Ate out at HH Diner last minute because it was easiest.....but that certainly wasn't special. Ordered the dinner package from Piggly Wiggly and that was okay too. Cooked the dinner from scratch....too much work!

Thanksgiving is a fun time at Hilton Head. As usual, the staff does some special stuff. One of them dressed up as a turkey and that was hilarious. They do little craft things with the kids, such as making pilgrim hats and picture frames from paper twigs and dried berries....I still have mine. There is the football game on the beach on TG day....the families get together and look like they are having a great time.....I've been a spectator only. They decorate the resort a bit as well, starting at Halloween, with the pumpkins and scarecrow and hay bails. As for swimming, the beach is pretty cool by then, but the kids still hit the pools almost all the time at HH.
