We are heading to the Fort in September which is the first time we have gone this time of year. We ALWAYS go the first two weeks of December (which we will also be doing this year) but are planning an "extra" trip in September.

Anything special going on that we could plan for??

How is the weather this time of year?

I think in general the crowds should be reasonable...yes??

We appreciate any suggestions for helping us have a great trip!Oh, we will of course have our DD1 and DD2 with us!

We are also going at the end of sept. and i'm totally interested in the same questions? My main reason for going this time of year is i'm hoping crowds are at a minimum.

That's usually our prime time -- we love it! Problem is, several times we've had to wiggle the dates because of hurricanes (peak seems to be Labor Day-ish). But crowds are usually light -- although the free dining filled it up a bit recently. We could walk right on just about every ride. Can't speak about dining reservations -- we eat at the camper. But I love, love it this time of year!

September - still hot, nearing the end of hurricane season, right after school starts and most parents don't take their kids out of school that early in the year, no real major holidays to deal with after Labor Day. We used to go October but with the popularity of Halloween and increasing crowds we are going in September this year. I think my major concern is hurricanes - we shall see how this season sorts out.

We went in September last year and agreed that the crowds were a bit more than we expected. Our 3 previous trips had been the end of January, first of February so not only was the weather more bearable during that time, the crowds were lower. Now that is not stopping us from going back in September again this year.:thumbsup2

I will be there day after Labor Day for 10 days, my longest stay ever at the Fort!
It will be hot but very low crowds from past experience. Free Dining bumped up the crowds a bit but really not that bad. If you do want ADR's, make them now.
We'll all be dodging weather during that time but if any, Disney knows what to do to take care of folks at the campground. And it usually doesn't affect more than a day or two at most. Otherwise, hot, sticky and low crowds from my experience.
I too usually go the 2nd week of December but decided to change back to September for a change this year.

We went last Sept around the 24th and almost melted!!!!!!!!!! I was shocked at the heat. But is was nothing a Dole Whip could not fix. Did not stop Disney fun!!

Crowds for rides were hit or miss and mostly light for smaller kids rides...Free dining was offered and as stated earlier it was crowded at restaurants and you could not walk up to be seated without ressies. That made enjoying the parks a little harder being on a schedule all the time. But its still doable.

ENJOY!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :thumbsup2

We went the last week of Sept. in 2008, and the weather was warm, but not nearly as humid as the summer months. We were quite comfortable. Food and Wine Festival was going on in Epcot. Very enjoyable time to visit.

We have been to WDW in early Sept. every year since '96 for DW's birthday.

IIRC, weather has been nice and crowds not bad because that's the way wife wants it. :worship:

We are going at the end of Sept too. We are hoping that they don't do the free dining again this year (unless they offer it to the campsites too, of course :) ), but they probably will if it was such a success last year. That being said, we are pretty laid back travelers, so our only real concern is that it is hurricane season. We don't want it to "rain on our parade" ;)

Come on people, too hot & hurricanes in Sept? That's we want you to think so you won't move here.
Ok, so we had 3 or 4, I forget, hurricanes, in one year, no biggie.
The average high temp in Sept is 89 degrees. Is that too hot for you?
Come on down and visit, have fun, leave as much money as you can, but go home and make room for the next visitors.

Went in Sept. last year & going the 18th this year. Yes its hot but you can enjoy the water parks & the pool at the Fort. We had a great time last year, even in the heat.

Heading down for our Sept. trip the week after labor day....it will be hot and it will rain and chase all the Grumpy folks out of the parks.

I was also there the weekend of sept 24ths. it is my mifes birthday weekend. little warm in the middle of the day but was not extremely bad, but i am a native floridian. the campground was a ghost town on weekdays, and decent on weekends. the lines were not that bad. actually weekdays we flew through everything. also food and wine fest. this is an awesome event for the adults. however the dining was a big problem me and wife did not have our two children and wanted to just kinda float around. there was never any walk up reservations

We were there in Oct last year and it was in the upper 80s low 90s every day. It also happened to us in Dec two years prior. I think I'm seeing a trend here. We'll be there next Nov if anyone wants to be hot along with us. :woohoo: That being said, Sept is a great time to go if anyone has any allergy problems. I know many people who can only go then because their children suffer from allergies pretty bad. Have fun and remember to post your pics and TR.

Thanks so much for all the advice! I have lots of great tips to make our September trip amazing! It is great to have such great DISer friends!

See ya Real Soon!!

:yay:
