My Alamo reservation went down $30 on Mon, $50 on Tues, and it is down another $43 today. My 11 day midsize rental went from $304 to $181 including all fees in just 3 days.

I booked my car through WTC and prepaid for the car. I am probably stuck with my old rate, right?

Shelly S,

Thanks for your post. I cancelled my dollar ressie and re-booked with Alamo. My ressie for 9-14 to 9-24 midsize car is now $196 including all taxes and fees. I used a $30 coupon from an email from Alamo hot deals. The previous Dollar ressie was $264.

Have a great trip.:cool1:

I am having similar good luck with my rates for Sept 12 through the 28. Last night a midsize for me was 389.75, this morning it was down to 363.29 and I just checked again and it's down to 319.21!!! :thumbsup2

I am currently using an Entertainment book coupon, but I'm still on the search for a better code just in case! I will keep checking rates until the day we leave, and I must say I'm relieved that the rates are getting more reasonable the closer I get. Good luck to everyone!!

On www.carrentalsavers.com there are some pretty good codes and coupons

Thanks! I just used the "SUNPROMO" code and the $30 off code and got an even better deal! If I don't use the "SUNPROMO" code and just use the $30 coupon and choose the prepay option I can get a midsize for 17 days for $276. I don't think I'll get anything much cheaper than that - should I just prepay, book it and be done, or continue to check back for a better deal even though $276 seems to be pretty good. I can't imagine they'll get much lower!

I would jump on it! $276 seems very reasonable to me for 11 days.....works out to about $25/day including all the taxes and fees

I guess a lower price 4 days in a row would be too much to expect. Today Alamo is up $20 from yesterday. I will continue to check though because it could go back down again.

Ha! Doesn't keep us from trying, does it?

Thanks to your post I went back yesterday and modified a reservation I made last November for 9/25 to 10/4 and it went down from $182 to $156. So, thank you! :worship: I've been fiddling with that reservation for 10 months now and it usually comes up in the $280 to $320 range whenever I found a new code to try.

Is that coupon code for Alamo? I am looking for a car for 5 days in October and I don't want to pay $30 to $50 per day!! :headache:

When I went in mid June my National rate dropped fast in the last couple of weeks before. Started around $300, ended up $150 incl tax for 8 days, intermediate emerald aisle.

Good to know, I am hoping that will happen in October. :thumbsup2

I too started a thread about me Alamo rates dropping as well. Used SUNPROMO and AD2123JMC which are both codes from email received from Alamo-good for the general public to use and dosen't require a paper coupon.

My best rate so far, 9/12 p.m to 9/23 p.m., full size is 216.00

When I first booked back in July it was $440.

That best rate was 2 days ago. Since then the rate has inched back up.

I'll keep checking though. I remember one year I rebooked the a.m. before we left and less than an hour later it had fallen again.

With Alamo it pays to check frequently.

Here's the link to my thread with my history of savings

Yes the coupon code is alamo, but it says for rentals picked up from 8/20 to 9/21. SUNPROMO is also for rentals picked up by 9/21

I still don't quite believe it. Is this too good to be true? I was about to book an Alamo midsize for the weekend with my entertainment book coupon for $107 and now with a code from carrentalsavers.com I have a compact car for $43! Anybody had any of these codes go south on them? I would just hate to get to the counter and have them ask for some type of corporate id or something that I don't have and then have the rate quadruple.

Wow! That seems really low based on current going rates. I'd google the code you used and verify where it came from to ensure you are "entitled", or else I'd be prepared to go to plan B.....good luck!

Which code did you use?

They most likely used the $10 per day weekend code. This is contract ID 7014730. This is an on again off again promotion that Alamo run. It is a legitimate publicly available contract ID.

That's exactly the code I used. Thank you for your reply. I'm feeling much more confident about it now. Anybody else going next week? Hop on this deal!
