day 1 sept 4 oops sept 7 report
Pre-trip report and day 1
WARNING: I AM GOING TO TRY TO BE AS DETAILED AS I CAN BUT I ALSO DONT WANT TO RUIN ANY SURPRISES FOR ANYONE..
We drove to Orlando knowing the hurricane was coming but also knowing we had family to visit and that we would have a vacation regardless if we cruised. I kind of got depressed because I assumed it would be cancelled. I was ok with that. Disney and dreams unlimited told us to call at 1pm on Thursday for the announcement. We then found out we would cruising Monday night at 7p. I got very excited again. We got to Orlando and checked disboards and noticed many people were canceling. Disney and DU called us Friday night and said things were still on. The hurricane came and went and we still didnt know what to do..Monday morning, I called Disney and they said definitely Tuesday night but may be a different port. Later that day, they told us it would be Port Everglades. I just wanted to get on that stinking boat. We were offered a night at a Disney resort Monday night so we jumped on that and drove to Port Orleans Riverside on Disney property. It is a beautiful resort Thats the end of Monday.
Tuesday morning we woke up and walked over to the lobby and had the best omellete in the world at the restaurant. I was still t rying to be chipper but I would say that half of the people were soooo mad and in bad moods that it was hard to be happy. I was not looking forward to the bus ride with grumpy people. So we boarded the bus and it wasnt so bad. They had a Disney cruise video and some old cartoons so it went by fast. We stopped halfway for a break and it took a while to get back on because someone lost their son. It was really busy.We passed Ft Pierce where my dad works and saw a lot of the damage. It was crazy. We saw some blue skies which made us happy. WE got to ft Lauderdale and a little boy said mommy, I see it NO one else did until we turned the corner and saw our favorite thing of the week, the Disney Magic We were soooo happy.
We got off the bus and walked through security, had more papers to sign and got our key to the world cards. It was about 145 when we got on the bus and we couldnt get into our rooms until 2pm. Well, it occurred to me that I booked the REAS and all of our appts were scheduled for Monday. So we walked over to the Palo ressie room and changed our time for Fri night since it was also formal night. I walked over and got our brunch moved to wed and our massages for wed afterenoon..Absolutely no problems getting reservations and we didnt run. It was my first time seeing the spa and it was quite lovely.
We went to our room to drop our bags off and had a few surprises waiting for us. (you can ask me but I dont want to spoil it for anyone)
We then went to Parrot Cay restaurant for a buffet lunch where we met Rick and Rebecca who we became fast friends with. We talked for about an hour and had lots in common. They put off the mandatory drill due to late arrivals and we found out we would not leave until 8pm. We checked our Navigators and planned the rest of the day. We walked around the boat and then chilled out for a bit. We wanted to do bingo at 7 so we made sure we were ready for dinner. We didnt miss the sail away party because I really enjoy watching the kids..You have to remember we dont have kids yet, so we have a bit more flexibilitye. We played BINGO and went to our dinner table in animators palace. I will skip telling you about our dinner mates except that they introduced themselves and simpley said I am on antidepressants and anticonvulsants..its nice to meet you..Anyway, they had the cutest daughter with them whom I really enjoyed. After dinner we walked around and decided to watch the movie THE village. Great movie for those who got to see it. There was a mom in front of us whose 6 year old talked the entire time and when the daughter cried and said she was scared, the mom just sat and watched the movie..IF the mom is reading this, that was totally inappropriate and you made a lot of people unhappy. We saw our new friends Rick and Rebecca and had a good time with them then we went to bed noticing that Shrek 2 was playing on tv and jersey girl which was released on video on tues! then we went to bed!
