Thanks for the support.

We had a wonderful day out at a new play area at the Arbortetum this morning. A beautiful day in Chicagoland. :sunny:

The dad called me this afternoon. Agreed with me that we should not have had a discussion in front of the kids this morning. I told him, the thing is, these are not MY children nor are they HIS children. They are other peoples children and that should not have happened in front of them. I also told him that I'm very angry at myself for allowing it to get to that point.

Then he goes on to tell me that he thought his son was sarcastic towards me -- not snotty towards the little girl. When I told him that even if that was the case the outcome would have been the same -- his son would have earned a time out for being nasty towards me also.

I know the dad is concerned that I am going to terminate them.....after all, I told him so at the door this morning and is trying to pave the way to stay. I am still going to terminate them -- on the basis of it's the best for the child. I did lay it all out for the dad this afternoon as to what I've seen and how his child choses not to interact with the other children here.

I also told the dad that I've noticed that he and his wife are very comfortable having conversations in front of their son that I feel shouldn't be held within ear-shot of the kids. I can have a conversation with a parent for 20 minutes talking about an issue with their child. They can then have a conversation with their child, on their child's level, for all of 2 minutes and cover what needs to be said. There is no reason to allow a child to hear it all.

Being we got home late, I didn't have a chance to do the termination paper work. But I will tonight and pass it onto the mom tomorrow at pickup. They will have their 2 weeks to make other arrangements for care. I would be willing to extend it if they need some extra time and it works out for a replacement. I have 5-6 phone calls/emails I can return for a replacement so I don't see it being long before a new child starts.

This is the most dreaded part of my job......10 years of daycare and this will only be my 3rd termination. I've hated each and every one of them. :guilty:

Cindy,
Were you at the Arbortetum in Lisle? How was it? We have been thinking of taking the girls. It is really close to where I work.

Jen

Im so far behind, but I wanted to thank Amy and Lisa for the pictures of the kids from WDW>
They are great,

Debbie - how is your son doing?

Jenny,

We were in Lisle. It has been about 20 years since I was there. It sure has changed.

How old are your daughters again? I'm guessing 4 & 8??? My daycare kids loved the new children's garden. But, the little ones didn't have much to do there. I would say it's definately geared towards the 2-6 year old age group. I'm not sure Cameron at 11 would get much out of it and probably would be bored silly in no time.

They have they stepping stones (kind of like Brookfield Zoo, if you've been in the children's zoo there), where the kids can walk on the stones surrounded by water. As we were leaving, several children were playing in the pond areas -- soaking wet. If you go, make sure to take a change of clothes as they would need it on a nice day.

They have play areas -- wooden structures with these bridges connecting one piece to the other. Planks of wood, attached together with ropes. The kids loved playing on those.

The only thing that was hard was pushing the stroller. Not all areas are paved. As we were leaving, I made the mistake of saying, let's go through the maze. It was huge! We couldn't find our way out of it....which normally wouldn't have been a bad thing. But, I was pushing the double stroller with both kids in it through the gravel area. It was not easy strolling. Between the kids and the stroller, I'm sure it's at least 60#'s, if not more. But, I think you are beyond the stroller years.

261 photos to be exact Cindy ... and those are just the ones I uploaded to Winkflash and printed. As my book kept getting larger and larger I had to be more creative in putting at least 6 photos on a page. It took two trips (in the pouring rain) to AC to buy more pages. Everyone I've shown it to think it looks nice. I even showed it to DBF parents last night and they totally don't "get" Disney and even they were considering a Disney cruise afterward :) My favorite page is the DIS page w/ our scrap class pics, pin and all the other goodies.

You should post your pages somewhere for all to see. That would be cool!
I have to say I'm majorly impressed that you got it all done, and all the pages!
You're my hero!! :bitelip:
I'm still on the Member Homecoming from May 2004...Yikes!

Oh my goodness!!!
You ladies were up late last night and posted up storm.
I had 11 pages to read this evening!

Cindy - I'm sorry to hear about your day. You made the right decision. I feel bad for the little boy. What's his home life like to make him behave like that.

Amy & Diana - Sorry to hear the girls are under the weather, with this crazy weather here in the Northeast Nick has been having some problems with his asthma.

I'm also waiting for the dvd before doing my scrapbook for the cruise. I know there will be at least one picture someone else took that I will just have to have in my scrapbook.
I had wanted to pick up the scrapbook on the cruise but with all the stuff they gave us I didn't have room to pack it so I didn't buy it. Luckily a friend from work will be on the Wonder in 2 weeks and is going to pick it up for me. Yea!!! :cool1:

A little side note about the ebay thing...No way in hell would I sell any of the gifts I got from my wonderfull new friends. I have Amy's pen in my pocketbook so I have it with me at all times, The pedicure products from Cindy and Lisa I have used at least most of the products in some way shape or form, and the pin from Mark and Mary I brought to work and showed people and have talked all about all the wonderfull friends I have on the boards.

wow. thought i'd come home to a ton of posts, but it was very quiet in here today....

kids had piano, then had to run errands...bank, dance store, trader joes-- then we went to see charlie and the chocolate factory at the dollar theater...that's definitely one we will buy.

out to dinner at flyzoli's and then finally home.....

kids are tucked into bed reading. survivor will have to wait until tomorrow.

i've got about 100 stitches left on the penguin snow globe i'm making for nick (mr. penguin lover---march of the penguins was DEVESTATING for him!)

here's what he'll look like done:

What a cute penquin. How big is the picture?

Only a 100 more stitches - you can do it! Hey can you try the 15 minute thing with it :cheer2:

Good morning everyone!

So Karen did you finish up those 100 stitches?

Cindy - hope today goes better than yesterday!

Good morning! :sunny: Looks like it's going to be another beautiful fall day here in Chicago. :cool1: Back to shorts today. :teeth:

I've completed my dreaded paperwork for today. It's going to be a long wait until pick up time tonight but I know it's the right decision. I already have several interviews lined up for next week. :cheer2: Although this has been a hard experience, I have learned from it as well.

Hey, Mary, I was detained yesterday. I think your a little busy the 12/3 -- at least my calendar is booked. :teeth: I would love the idea of getting together and scrap booking. I have lots of things that I've accummulated as well -- a sizzix machine I've hardly ever used. I would love to get more cuts for it -- I just stay out of Michael's & JoAnnes as much as I can these days. Trying to clean up my house, not clutter it up more (hey, Karen, sounds like we have the same plan ;) ).

Another beautiful day? :rotfl2: I'm so jealous. It's rained here for like 10 days straight. :umbrella: I've had enough!

You "sound" a lot happier today, that makes me happy! :goodvibes

I think I'm going to take the girls to the library, and then go to Michael's and check out the framing situation. I found an online framing place that seems relatively inexpensive, and I want to make sure before I buy!

Is the Christmas Tree Shops only a NY thing? They have all their Halloween stuff 50%! I'm not sure why, seeing as it's no where near Halloween yet, but the people were beating each other up for the stuff yesterday, and I was doing my fair share! :rotfl2:

Good morning all!!!

I'm so glad that you're doing better today, Cindy!! As long as you feel that you're doing the right thing, then that's all that matters. Don't let those parents make you feel bad.

Emily has school off today, so we didn't have to be up early (even though Emily was up at 6:30am). Chris worked all night on a special project for work, and now he's playing a computer game. I really would like for him to get a few hours of sleep.

Then, we're heading to the beach at noon today. Chris's company is having their annual picnic down at one of the hotels on St. Pete Beach. And, the weather is supposed to be good too, 87 and sunny.

We're heading to WDW tomorrow morning to do F&W at Epcot and MNSSHP on Sunday night.

We're also going to do some house hunting on Sunday while the girls take a nap before the MK party. Chris is going to meet with the guy that has been recruiting him to Orlando. We found out that the company is just north of Universal, so we would probably look for a house just west of there and north of Disney. What a perfect location, huh? We're not sure that we're going to do this, that's why Chris is going to spend the day there on Monday. So, we'll see, but we wanted to see what we're looking at for housing in the Orlando area.

Speaking of meltdowns....Emma couldn't seem to understand why she can't have the knife I used to cut up her pancakes this morning. :confused3 She's still mad about it. I REALLY need to get out today!

We went through this with Walker. What we did was bought a child's pumpkin carving knife and gave it to him. Only he was allowed to use it as it was "very special". Worked like a charm. ;)

Cindy - other than the all important call in are you busy 12/3. Might be a great day to do scrapping. If we can both get our phone calls in what better way to celebrate than to be going over the memories of Member Cruise 2005!

We are leaving in the morning for WDW. 5 days at BWV then 2 days at VB and then 5 days at SSR!. Try and get over 1000 pages by the time we get back!

Steve & Coleen - have a great time at Food & Wine! Try not to let your shyness get in the way of having fun. :rotfl2:
