Sept 3, 2011 7 Day Med.

Been on hold with Disney for a while now. Trying to figure something out. I'm sure this has kept them busy today, but WOW, the un-Disney like people I have spoke with is astounding. :(

I am sorry to be the bearer of bad news:
Our travel agent just informed us that DCL sold this cruise to a private company!:headache:

We do have the option to move our dates to any other 7 night MEd this summer at the same price and receive $250 per cabin OBC and they will pay change fees for any airfare already bought--it will mess with many of your plans though:sad2: I was looking forward to meeting you all--perhaps some of us will get to meet on a different date.

I'm very very sorry for all of you. With so many things happening from outside influences to affect ones vacation on the Med such as volcanoe ashes, the economy, Tunisia turnmoil, Egypt turnomoil, Greece turnmoil, Russia Airport attack, etc. etc. One would never even imagine that the problem would come from within in; like DCL. I guess they waited after the first sail of The Dream to give the bad news. When this hits the media it just might turn to your favour.

We were also looking forward to meeting everyone. We are also looking into other options with our Travel agent. You never know we may meet up on another cruise! Thankyou NHdisneylover for starting the ball rolling with Lanyards, sad it has come to an end before it even began!

Hope you all find and enjoy another wonderful Disney vacation!

we are in the process of switching over to the August 27th sailing. Maybe we will see a few of you then.

Hey Folks

If you are upset that DCL chartered the 09/03/2011 sailing and is now offering very little 'compensation' to those affected by this I encourage you to write to DCL to let them know how you feel.

Even if you aren't directly affected by this please add your voice to those who are - afterall if this happened to other cruisers it could happen to you.

I invite you to use the feedback form here on Disney Cruise Line's website - https://disneycruise.disney.go.com/contact-us/ - or better yet send a physical letter to:

Disney Cruise Vacations
Guest Communications
P.O. Box 10238
Lake Buena Vista, FL 32830-0238

It's important to let Disney Cruise Line know that we spend a lot of time and money planning our vacations and it's not acceptable for them to change them like this.

Hi

Thanks for this.

Would you mind if we added this to the thread re the cancellation of the cruise, so if people would like to email/write they can do?

Also would you mind us quoting the link to the 3 september cancellation thread so disney can see how upset people are, or are we not allowed to do this?

We are exploring moving our whole trip back 7 days, but have a $13,000 non cancellable airfare. Has anyone got any guidance on what Disney will cover?

We were told they will dover the airline change fee---but not the extra cost if the new airfare is also more expensive (so, an example: pretend you paid $1000 per person for tickets. To change them you now have to pay a $250 per person change fee AND the airfare is now $1500 person--so in total you need to pay an extra $750 per person for the tickets. Disney would only cover the $250 per person change fee). However, we did not have airfare already booked so did not press this particular point. PERHAPS you can get somewhere with them on this aspect and get them to cover whatever it costs to move your flights. I sincerely hope so (and I would enjoy meeting you on the August 27 cruise if you can move everything up a week).

Thanks for the information. We are moving back a week to the Aug 27 cruise. Hope to see you there.

Diane

I had a B2B with the 9/3 Med and WBTA so I sent a letter stating my thoughts about their offered compensation and options yesterday. Still have not decided what to do but got my second call from DCL asking to call with my decision by 2/17 or they would just refund my deposit for the 9/3 sailing. We will either do just the WBTA with a few days in Barcelona or just cancel that too. I wish I knew where the Magic would be next summer as it would make this decision much easier.

For those of you who have booked your own Barcelona hotels (Disney's prices seem high) where and what prices have you found? I have not booked air yet. Last year I used Aer Lingus from JFK to Dublin for my Ireland ABD. Looks like they fly JFK to Barcelona w/ a stop in Dublin. I could then book from here to JFK and home from MCO as a round trip multi city ticket. Total of around $1000 pp. Any thoughts? What about flights from MCO to Barcelona-what have you found? I could do that itineray and add a few day before and after at WDW.

Thanks

We booked the AC diplomatic thruogh expedia - it was only $220 per night for the five of us. The price booking through Disney was substantially dearer.
