Ang, I have upgraded used tkts a few times - just went to guest services at EPCOT or MK and asked if I could upgrade - once was 2 days used on 8 days to an AP and last summer I had 3 days used on a 4 day hopper which I upgraded to 8 day non-expiring..and he said I could add 2 more next time I visited. Maybe because it was now nonexpiring?

Years ago we would do the same the following year, but all tkts were "nonexpiring" in those days. Guess the rules have changed... Too bad!

I just realized that your friend could have a used ticket she wants to upgrade and in that case she can't add any days to it if she used it more than 14 days ago.

I just looked up ticket prices and if it is a new ticket to upgrade from 5 to 6 days would cost her $13.85 to go from 5 to 10 days it is $154.43 per ticket so more than I realized because the NE goes up in price with the amount of days as well. I also found out that now if you pay for water parks and more you get as many options as you buy days on the ticket for $50 plus tax.

Double posting again, but just saw this. So, even on the non-expiring ticket, if it has been more than 14 days (which it have been two years) she can't add days to it. And see I was thinking that maybe that is why non-expiring cost so much. I had to catch myself because I thought about the $99 two-day ticket for guests, but that ends in May. WDW knows how to do it.

Ok, I think she needs to call in and ask or wait to buy the tickets when they get there. They weren't planning on going to any of the parks on their first day, so they have time.

Sorry ..had to run before I finished the post...all I was going to add was that I did this at MK Guest Services outside the park and that it might be a good idea to go to a GS window with the old tkt and ask. This way the CM can see the tkt and let them know on the spot.

I can't believe how fast you found your house!!! We have Zaxby's here too. Nothing like it in Boston...but it might be to blame for some of the 30+ lbs I gained since the move south...all these drive thrus!!!

I think it depends on the CM - I tried to use my birthday pass as credit to an ap voucher. They said no it had to be an actual ticket so I took the money to spend.

I was thinking about the $99 thing for my mom but she said no more tickets for her.
Oh well I will sav the money so I can get my AP voucher.

Well looking at what M&N said they might just let them if it is a NE. I don't know if M&N's tickets were old tickets that could be upgraded without the 14 day limitation and that is why? Now if you read Disney wording on tickets, after I think it was 2005 that they changed them, it says tickets can not be upgraded after 14 days from first use but maybe they just didn't add the exception of except for NE tickets? Now I want to know if it works too. lol One thing I do know is with Disney you never know what one CM will do that another says is impossible so it is worth a try to upgrade but then your BFF won't know till she gets to the gate. I guess it is a case of go in figuring she can't get the upgrade and will have to buy new tickets and hope for the best that the CM she gets will spread some magic for her.

As for the school we all have different opinions and that's cool. It just makes life more interesting. My biggest issue with what happened is the way the teacher talk to the parents which is common in our school but if a parent talked to a teacher that way the others in the room would have been all over them for it. It should not be an issue when a parent speaks up and asks questions on behalf of their child trying to get them the best education possible. That is working as a team to help the child not a personal attack as this teacher seems to have taken it. Disrespect is just not acceptable on either end.

I also don't understand how taking an accelerated student who is bored in a regular class and punishing him for his lack of organizational skills by putting him back in a boring classroom is teaching him to organize. Teach him organizational skills which is what he needs help with and is far from wiping a childs butt for them. lol Our school doesn't give the kids the tools they need or the instruction in how to be organized it is just something they are expected to do and know once they enter 6th grade or they fail. No exceptions even for the special needs kids who lack executive functioning either. Now if they did give him the tools to do it and he was just slacking off that's another story. I would think and excellerated child would have learned far more if he had to add another paragraph to the essay when it was late than if he got an F and put into a classroom that learns at a slower pace than he does but that is just my opinion on it.

This is not intended as an argument so please don't take it as one. I worked as a teachers aid with special needs students for many years so I have been on that end of it as well. There are tons of wonderful teachers and I am sure schools in general out there who do a wonderful job and don't get the recognition the deserve for it.

Maybe this will help:

I bought my tkt by mail early August, 2008. It was a 4 day hopper, with the 14 day expiration. After using 3 days I upgraded to an 8 day non-expiring. That's when I asked if I could add 2 more days whenever I returned - no problem.

My understanding is that a tkt without the no expiration option is not good after 14 days and therefore cannot be upgraded after 14 days - that was the new rule.

Tkts with the no expiration option can be upgraded to add more days. The cost to upgrade to a hopper is flat fee, whereas no expiration is per day. So if I want to add 2 more days to my 8 day no expiration hopper, I will need to pay for days 9 & 10 and the no expiration for 2 more days. When I upgraded my 4 day hopper to an 8 day no expiration, I had to pay for 8 days of no expiration.

In 2005 I used 2 days of newly purchased tkt with the 14 day expiration - on the 3rd day I upgraded to an AP.

I agree, Ang, about the CM - keep going until a guest finds one that knows their stuff. We've had good luck at EPCOT and MK guest services outside the turnstiles.

M&N, when the weather is good North Carolina would work for me, a tad bit closer and no Atlanta to go through. Ang, I got your PM and will re read it when my head stops swirling. Got some disturbing news about my demented dil yesterday and it has me all aflutter and upset. I worry so much about them all. I wish I could convince myself that it was not necessary. Thank you so very much for your help. Unlike M&N, I am not an expert at anything. I am a font of useless knowledge and know a little bit about everything and not a whole bunch about any particular thing. In other words I am not only 'interesting' but scatterbrained. I think the miles to Disney (1,000 from my door) would go by fast with you as a companion as well. One day????

Timmie, I hope you have arrived safely, wherever, and were able to get all your cleaning products through security. Another reason for my driving is that I can bring my own pillows and such. When I start hauling my own mattress on top of my car I shall stay at home though. Looking forward to your TR, written and sent. Not to be missed, for sure, for sure!
