Sept. 2009 @ WDW! Be a Pop Tart 2009~come share your(Bounce Back or NOT)Dates !!!

Hi everyone!

Bonz, congrats on the new home! I guess you got the old one sold. I hate dealing with closings, hopefully we only have 1 or 2 more to go through.

I didn't get to see Ang this weekend, but hope to next weekend. Trying to talk Jonas into going also. We ended up at MK Saturday night and I texted Ang, but they had just left because Will wanted to swim.

Saw Toy Story 3D yesterday. Jonas hates 3D movies and was complaining about spending $30 to see something he had on DVD at home, but he really enjoyed it. I was worried about the kids being so loud, but it turned out the adults were the really annoying people at the theatre. First, this lady comes in and I guess she had to sit in this one row and actually had people move over when there were lots of seats all over. We had 6 open next to us and we were just one row down.:confused3

Then another lady came in right when the movie was to start and complained LOUDLY "They shouldn't sell tickets when they know they don't have seats available!" Jonas and I both said, "The front two rows are empty!" Her and her girls ended up spliting up all over the theatre.

And I had the lady next to me that worked on her emails on her Iphone 4 times during the first movie. I was asking Jonas how I should ask her not to do it during the second one, but she moved down further in the aisle during the intermission so I guess she heard me complaining, or else she thought her boy was annoying me because I was sitting with my hand up to keep the glare off of the 3D glasses.

And I had fun going to see Buzz Lightyears celebration after his big space mission. It wasn't much, but one of those little things I wouldn't usually get to do. Jacob liked the cars the astronauts were in, 1969 Camaro's. A lot of people left before the 3:00 parade, so there were a lot there just to see Buzz Aldrin, which I thought was cool. Waited in line for his autograph an hour and a half and there were still people waiting when I left.

Hope everyone has a good week!

To those of you that are my facebook friend also, I wanted to extend my sincere thanks. Your good wishes & prayers after the loss of my father last week were genuinely heart warming. While I've only met a few of you in person, I feel like I know the rest of you very well indeed.
Anyway, you are appreciated. Thanks again.

Rie, I am so sorry to read your dad passed. Please know we will hold you all in heartfelt pray and thoughts.

Bonz, thank goodness your father is getting a bit better - 4 lbs! I'd be happy to send a good 25 his way. All kidding aside, it sounds serious, but truly happy for you that he is improving. Congratulations on your new home! Do post some pics - Like Linda, I really enjoying pics of homes. ::yes::

I am so far behind in this thread, that I don't know where to begin to catch up - so I skimmed . No doubt this means I have missed soemthing important- my apology!

Congrats to Will for the B+ -that's quite a leap!!!:cheer2:

Ang, I missed saying so long and wishing you a wonderful visit with Mickey! Do hope you enjoy AS this time. :thumbsup2

Ms Linda, so happy your town celebration went well. Our countdown in on for December!!

Melissa ~ what fun to see Toy Story in 3 D...but why do folks go to the movies and email??? And while I do like a certain row, if I don;t get there early enough to snag it, then we are happy to sit wherever...and what's with people walking in as the movie begins and complaining about seats?? Pet peeve that one!!:headache:

At any rate, glad you all enjoyed the show! when will you haed over to Disney next? Nice to be so close, but it must be very tempting to go all the time!

Have a great week everyone!:grouphug:

SG, JMS & M/N- thank you for the well wishes & prayers. Dad had bad weekend, he is depressed again. He had a good day or two & right back down again. So wish we could help him in some way.
Here is the link to the house, we have lots of work to do but it will eventually be our "grand ol home". Our prior house was built in 1875, with so many old features I loved it. We completely rehabed it and would have stayed but the neighborhood was turning ( lots of rentals). I don't like to think about it but we may have to do the same with our home as it has not sold yet.
I will try to keep updated as we progress on the new one.
All comments welcome:thumbsup2

Bonz, I am so sorry your dad had a bad weekend. When my dad was ill, it was so very difficult not to be able to help him. Will continue to hold you all in heart and prayer....sigh...so sad.

On another note - the new house is going to be a beautiful home! I just love old homes - so much more character. Yours is a beauty already and with your touch it will be wonderful! :goodvibes:

We did not see any here when we moved, but in Boston such homes are unaffordable - a fixer upper might be $500,000 or so. Although Mia;s grandparents home might go on the market for $395 and it needs a load of work - it's an hour from Boston, so that makes the difference - still very expensive.

Melissa, don't cha just love 'special' people. You know, the ones who only think of themselves and think that the rules are for others? I think the theater management should enforce rules so that folks would think twice about disturbing others. Same goes for DW and elsewhere IMO. I am glad that you managed to have a bit of enjoyment in spite of it all. Please give Will a hug for me when you see him? :goodvibes

Bonz, I am sorry to hear that your dad had a bad weekend. Hopefully it means he is feeling better and is a bit down at being so dependent rather than feeling worse. The aches and pains that we are heir to are hard to deal with sometimes and that moment when our children have to care for us is painful sometimes. Lovely house. I cannot wait to see what you do with it. I envy you your bathrooms, especially that walk in shower. That is the only thing I am missing in my house, large bathrooms. I have to go outside just to change my mind, let alone my underwear. :rotfl:

M&N, you can buy a darned nice house for 100K here. Location, location! I like mine though so it is all good. I am getting excited about our trip as well and hope to be able to spend some time, in person, with you as well as others along the way. Hoping I am able to keep up with things though. Not planning on doing a lot of things. Ang says she is taking it easy this trip and sounds as if she is having a lovely time and has fallen in love with MY resort. :yay:

Did a bit of concrete work today. Used a vinyl concrete mixture so I did not have to undercut each and every crack. Hope it works. As expensive as the stuff is it should! The things I have learned to do living in this old house. Love old houses, as long as they have good bones.

I am having lunch with a DIS friend on Friday and finally getting my replacement car key, been over a year since it got lost. I am so looking forward to Friday.

Well, Ms SlightlyGoofy (slightly could be debatable at times ;)), sounds like hard labor to me! Honestly, you continue to amaze me - I love how you take care of so much around your home, but wish you had more help. You seem to be the first to offer help to others....but....your reward will come...hopefully with a wonderful and relaxing visit to Disney. Bless your heart, my friend.

So happy to hear Ang is enjoying her trip and had fallen in love with YOUR resort!! Tell us more - why did it steal her heart? Is she at Sports?

Lunch with a DIS friend!! How delighful! I shall be SlightlyGreen the rest of the week! :thumbsup2

Happy Tuesday, my friends!! :grouphug:

M&N, you are far from the first to say that 'Slightly" does not quite fit all the time. :rotfl: If I were not able to laugh I would have taken a long walk off a short pier many decades ago.

As far as the concrete work, it really is not much different than icing cupcakes. Does not take great skill. If I did not do such things there would be no money for Disney trips. I need a smaller house but what is good for me is not good for Tom and in the end if it is not good for Tom it will not be good for me either. Delicate balancing act. I teeter a lot.

Ang loves the fact that the room at Sports is nice and clean and she has a great location, just where I would have suggested. Will enjoys the fact that the room is in between two pools so he always has a place to splash and I am thinking that that big football field gives him plenty of room to run in circles. Sports is just laid out easier to get around than most resorts. POFQ is nice also IMO.

You do not have to be Slightly Green, you are welcome to join us. I am blessed in that, many years ago, I met a group on a thread and we got booted for being OT and started our own thread over on the CB and we have just celebrated our 8th year together. I have met all but one of them in person and several of them live near me. One of them met me in a strange way. It is a long story, will save it for another day. I need to be out of here shortly as Tuesdays are long, hard days. I have a track meet to get to later also. Have to root for one small runner. :yay:

Hope everyone is having a good start to their day and that you have nothing but good news to report later on. I will be checking.

Melissa, When I left at 4pm there was a line - that was the standby line

Hopefully I will get to meet up on Sunday maybe. My inlaws drove us crazy but we had a fun time. I also got something stuck in my foot so it depends on how the foot is.

Cheryl, hope your foot is ok. Hope I get to see you sometime at WDW. Trying to talk Jonas into going this weekend, if not I am going by myself to see Ang and Will.

SG, you sound like my mother, always working on something yourself. You know, I have a large bathroom, but have learned you have to clean the darn thing. Not fun! I always wish for a smaller one when I'm cleaning.

Bonz, love the house. Jonas and I have always wanted an older home, but moving every couple of years we haven't wanted to do a lot of work on one. Maybe one day..... Love the deck on the back!

JM, when you do things yourself you get them done right as well as save money. Some tips on keeping your bathroom clean. Keep baby wipes and wipe down the sink and then the toilet every day. Toss and flush. If you are the last one to take a shower or bath you can take your towel after you dry off and wipe down the walls and tub. I also use car wax on the walls, making sure not to get any in the tub and that makes the water slide off easily. Also use liquid soap as it does not put crud on things. I think keeping a small bathroom clean is harder because there are far more nooks and crannies. I would love a big bathroom though. Next house, maybe. I have too big a house to make my job harder than it needs to be so everything is done with an eye to easy care.

cherylp3, how did you hurt your foot? I hope it is better today.

More concrete work today. You can only do 1/2 inch layers at a time. One segment of the sidewalk is buckled because of a tree root so I am making a mini ramp to keep folks from tripping over the bump. It costs hundreds of dollars to replace just one segment. I hope to avoid having to pay it myself and pass the chore onto the next owner. :woohoo:

They have me teaching some children how to write their names so I spent a lot of time hunting for wipe off alphabet boards yesterday.

Funny story, last Monday I was tying one little girls shoes and she looked at me and said "You know how to tie shoes?" I was a bit taken aback until I noticed her looking at my feet. I always wear sandals that have velcro straps and she thought that because my shoes had velcro it meant I had not learned to tie yet. I simply like to wiggle my toes and only wear real shoes when the snow is higher than my feet.

:lmao: Too cute!

I don't know. we were walking out of MK and I felt something in my shoe. Stopped took my shoe off and there was a thorn in my sneaker.

Cheryl, did you get the whole thing out? Is it infected? Seems like small things cause more pain than some big things. Hope you feel better soon!

JM, that is why I love kids. They see things so differently than grownups. Loving the innocence of them.

I ran out of concrete mix so I will have to wait to finish. Looking pretty good though and it set before the kids got out of school and tracked it up. Life is good.

SG

yes the my husband got some of it out and the doctor got the rest of it out. She gave me antibiotics and told me to keep it clean.

LOVE it!!! Always another funny story for those of us involved with young ones:

My hair is mostly silver and white - I wear my baby fine hair in a bob style. As After-school Director I was responsible for the program, but liked to play with the kids as well. One day, we were playing I don't remember what, but somehow I was squatted down on the floor and my head was forward down - one of the 1st graders shouted, "Ms Christine is wearing a wig! She's wearing a wig"!! :rotfl2: At first I felt this wave of embarrassment... as if my underwear was showing ...within an instant, I realized and explained that the underside of hair is darker than the top - so we had a long discussion about hair, how it grows, color from babyhood through adult and beyond (me being the beyond)...and many, many hands in Ms Christine's hair that afternoon!

Cheryl, do hope your foot feels better and healed soon!

LOL, Christine! It is not amazing how the subject changes so fast when dealing with children. I let them lead. It is usually more interesting than what I have planned and there are so many learning experiences that come up. Today we ended up feeling our throats and talking about vibrations and such. Who says learning has to be boring? I am a font of a whole lot of useless and odd knowledge so I know a bit about most everything, while not being an expert on any one thing. The kids like to pay my hair as well. I have very fluffy hair. I loved your explanation and bet those kids will remember that forever!

Cheryl, please pardon the mom in me in asking snoopy questions. I am glad that you had expert care and are surely on your way to recovery. It is a good husband to do such things. I scratch my back on doorways and such, reminds me of the cows when I was a child. Mooo!

I talked to Ang last night and she was feeling pretty miserable and sick. She started getting it a couple of days ago and came down with it bad. I hope she is doing better today and able to enjoy some of DW before she heads home on Sunday. I was worried about people getting sick with all the stuff going around. It is especially bad when you are away from home. I am sorry it happened to her. Hopefully Will is 'mean' enough to scare the germs away. He has been taking wonderful care of his mom. He is a sweetheart.

Some other news, for those of you who met my friend Lucy. She had her WL surgery on Thursday and there were complications so she had to have another surgery yesterday. The news did not sound good. It sounds like some sort of infection and our local hospital does not have a good track record. I had tried to get her to go elsewhere but she is such a trusting person and did not want to make it harder for her family and such. I hope there is some good news today. I want to see her but am afraid of possibly bringing a germ since I work with small children and might get something at any time. If she gets better today I will go tomorrow if she is up to it.

Had a lovely day yesterday. Went to Bloomington and met a DIS friend for lunch at Panera's. In spite of just having a low carb salad I must have somehow ingested the calories from the bakery that we were sitting near. I swear those baked goods put the ones at Kringla to shame and that takes some doing!

I hope all of you are feeling well today, do not have much work to do and are enjoying the changing colors of the leaves, if such is wont in your area.:wizard:

This place is barren and neglected. just like me. :lmao:

Where are you all? Over at FB?

I miss you all.

I miss everyone chatting on this thread also. Thanks for making it pop up again Linda.

How is your sister?

And just to let you know what is going in my home, my mother had wanted to come at Thanksgiving, but then the DMIL said her and her boyfriend were coming. They were going to bring Kara, but something happened and Kara couldn't come. Jonas was mad because we learned this through the DMIL and not Kara herself. Then a week ago, DMIL calls and talks to her son, everything sounds great. Next night DBIL calls and asks if we are going to NC because DMIL just asked him to meet her in the mountains for Thanksgiving. Jonas is , I tell him to call DMIL, he won't speak to her. So I finally emailed her rather than be confronting just asked when she planned on arriving. That is when she finally emailed me and said they weren't coming due to some bills that popped up. Which is fine, but why not just tell us?

Called my Mom and now she is driving from Texas and we plan on going to WDW from Saturday until Tuesday and then be back at our house for Thanksgiving. She also wants to do some Black Friday shopping. :woohoo: So, everything is working out great for me, except for Jonas still refusing to speak with his mother. And people wonder why we never had more children.:confused3

Oh, and something really cool, my Mom is meeting my Stepdad in Dubai for Christmas.

Hope everyone is doing well and that you have a magical day!

Oh, Linda, I am sooo happy you bumped our thread! I have been missing everyone too. FB is just not the same. Any news from your sister recently?

Melissa, talk about drama!! My goodness - some folks can sure throw a wrench into planning. Does sound out things have worked out very well - lovely your mom will be coming for Thanksgiving -and a few nice days at WDW to boot!! WTG!

Dubai? Your mom is a brave woman - I love to travel, but don't think I would go to Dubai...but.... if I had someone I dearly loved waiting for me, then that just might be the incentive!

Hope everyone is feeling well and all ready for Halloween!
